1. Opening
As I sit here on the couch, I know that the LORD, our Father in Heaven, knows me thoroughly. That it is by His compassion for me, and also for you, that He sent His Son to do a work that nobody else could perform, which is for the remission of sin.

3. Devotional Reflection
As part of this Week of Global Prayer, today being the 3rd day of that, we are called by this verse to pray for one another. But, how do we confess our faults to one another? And what are our faults, and how are we called righteous, to pray for another?
Faults: What is wrong with you, what are your struggles? You see, Jesus dealt with the sin of the World upon the cross, as the Sacrifice for Sin, and by what He has done, we are forgiven, pardoned, as we learned yesterday. So, what are the faults, what are our transgressions, or, what ails us and what are our infirmities? How do we stand in the gap for one another, by agreement in the Spirit of GOD? By the Word of GOD have we got that agreement, in the Holy Spirit, we have unity, not just with Jesus Christ, but also with our Father in Heaven, and also, one with another. It is for the purpose that we assist one another to endure to the end, in our pursuit of Christ in Righteousness.
What is the Righteousness that is stipulated in this verse that qualifies us to be able to give fervent prayer? Well, Paul wrote how Abraham's faith in GOD was accounted to him as righteousness, and we are called, even by the Father, to believe in Jesus Christ in John 3:16. But, what is belief, if not met with a trust and a following, as Christ Himself requested of His disciples, to take up their cross and follow Him. Paul writes of mortifying the flesh, laying it down, and to walk after the Spirit and not the flesh. And Christ proclaims, "GOD is a Spirit." We are made righteous by the Word of GOD, which is Christ, and of Whom we are reminded of all that He had said, by the Holy Spirit of GOD, that dwells in us, at the renewing in rebirth at the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. But, all of this starts with our Faith in Jesus Christ. The Promise of GOD is connected to that. If then believing in Christ, also walking out His words, here in the world, where we are hated for His sake.
In the verse that follows this one, James starts giving the example of Elijah, who called down fire from heaven. The fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Who is more righteous than our Savior, Jesus Christ, our Advocate, High Priest and Standing Sacrifice at the Throne of GOD, our Father? Here is His fervent prayer:
John 17:1-26 KJV
[1] These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: [2] as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. [3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. [4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. [5] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. [6] I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. [7] Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. [8] For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. [9] I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. [10] And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. [11] And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. [12] While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. [13] And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. [14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. [15] I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. [16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. [17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. [18] As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. [19] And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. [20] Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; [21] that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: [23] I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. [24] Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. [25] O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. [26] And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

There is added, when Christ prayed, “…Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
Paul writes of how the Spirit makes intercession for us in groaning we cannot understand (Romans 8:26.) Christ prayed for a unity among us, that we will know one another even as He and the Father knows One another. Christ prayed for us too, friends. And it is my belief that He still does that, at the Throne of GOD.
Our pursuit should thus be after righteousness in Jesus Christ, that our prayer for one another may be qualified before the Throne of GOD, and if we pray for GOD'S will to be done, it means also mortifying our sinful flesh (Romans 8:13 and Colossians 3:5.) By the Spirit, we can make our petitions known to God, which the Holy Spirit purifies and sanctifies, by Christ in us, for Christ is righteous.
If we pray from what we see, we are still blind, but when we pray by the Spirit of GOD, we may know that it is GOD'S will that none be lost and all be saved (1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9.) By the stripes of Christ are we healed, and by His death we may live (1 Peter 2:24 and Isaiah 53:5.) Therefore, what remains must count to our Salvation and eventual redemption to God, by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Righteous Man, and we can stand in agreement with Him in our faith in Him, which is accounted to us as righteousness (Romans 4:3-5 and Genesis 15:6), as our faults, even our sin, is hidden in Him. (Colossians 3:3, Romans 4:7-8, Isaiah 61:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Therefore, we can take our prayers to the Throne (Hebrews 4:16), for Christ is our Righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30), if we believe in Him. If we follow Him, if we stand in agreement with the Word of GOD, then our prayers are made pure before the Throne, by the Spirit in us, Who are in Union with GOD and Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, John 14:16-17 and Colossians 2:9.)
