Luke 9:1-9 KJV
[1] Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. [2] And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. [3] And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. [4] And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. [5] And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. [6] And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. [7] Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead; [8] and of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. [9] And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

Did the disciples take anything with them, in a manner of provisions? Now here is a more complicated question, what was the gospel they were sent to proclaim? They did have something that went with them, right? They had the authority of Jesus Christ, to heal and drive unclean spirits out. They were to heal the ill and preach the Kingdom to everyone.
Mark 1:14-15 KJV
[14] Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, [15] and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

But, what Kingdom was being preached, and do not neglect that according to the testimony of Mark, it is the gospel of the Kingdom of GOD and that it is at hand. This matter we looked at in detail when we read from Mark, and can be found here on YouVersion or a search for it on the blog. The interesting matter is to compare the commission of the disciples and compare it with the gospel we hear today.
What is the summation of the ministry of Jesus Christ here on earth, and that which we were called to continue with? Healing the sick, freeing the bound and proclaiming the Kingdom of GOD. Versus what my friends? The state of and the affairs of this physical and seen place? An unseen Kingdom is proclaimed, that calls man to a higher standard than the one of self and mankind.
As I went through this weekend of memorial, I was witness to some words spoken out that cannot be left unaddressed. Without specifics, let me rather ask: Are we building up our ideas of a heavenly kingdom here on earth, as if we are building an empire to GOD in material things?
Who is the Healer, but GOD? Who is the builder, but GOD. Who establishes the ways of man and set them in their course, but GOD? Who is it that sends, but GOD? Who is it that commissions man, but GOD? Who prepares the heart and mind to the duty that must be done, but GOD? Does man send, as if somehow he has become like GOD? Is it man that declares the station of a man before the face of GOD, or did GOD create man according to His pleasure and purpose?
Here, Jesus, the Son of GOD, commissions the disciples. But, He does not send them empty handed as it might appear at first, He gives them power and authority first. Real power and authority. Do you see that? When I heard how one is sent with some monetary gifts, as an apostle to broaden the reach of an institution, I was appalled. Not for the kingdom of GOD, but for the name of something put together by man and run like a business. Shall we run our churches as profit centers then, and send our children on extended "life experiences" under the banner of evangelism on the dime of the poor who gives to GOD? Exactly what are the collections for, to have our children join a church in Amsterdam? Oh, friends, if this be of GOD, may He forgive me. But, were we not told that by their fruit would we know them? Stomping beasts that profit from the poor. Who evangelizes the converted and calls it a profit for themselves? Are all not baptised in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; since when do we need another name added in? So, are we adding to a "Hopehill, " a "Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, reformed or any other specific church" kingdom here on earth? What are you thinking? Who is GOD, is He in favour of one over the other or does He still search the hearts and reigns of mankind Himself? Be careful what you let slip out of your mouth, less you offend GOD Almighty on His Throne in Heaven. I thought we were proclaiming the Kingdom of GOD!
For the lack in food, clothes, shelter and care of the widows, orphans and the poor, the church will be judged in the tithes received. Shall we look at the verse used in a marketing campaign for the wealth of the wolves in the church?
Malachi 3:10 KJV
[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mal.3.10.KJV
"...that there may be meat in mine house..." Did you read that right, have you fed the poor? Or do you consider yourselves poor for a lack in “wanting?” Gluttons fed by that which was established to care for the poor. Do you still bring sacrifice in the house of GOD, at the altar, do you still burn the flesh of offerings? Is that flesh still consumed as holy unto the LORD? Where are your works of charity? Did you not read...
Revelation 20:12 KJV
[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.20.12.KJV
Romans 2:6-11 KJV
[6] Who will render to every man according to his deeds: [7] to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: [8] but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, [9] tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; [10] but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: [11] for there is no respect of persons with God.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.2.6-11.KJV
Especially pay attention to verse 11 here at the end, how then is the daughter of the pastor the first to be sent abroad for evangelism. The believer and the godless do it too, they call it a gap year. Once again, who pays the bills, the flights and accommodations? Now, if it be true that such is sent to further the Kingdom of GOD, GOD'S will be done. If there is indeed a calling may all resources strengthen this effort even by the full support of Heaven. But, if this be in a respect of a person thing alone... Woe unto that church who takes from the poor to finance a restless spirit. Are we then not accountable before the Lord anymore? I bring a simple example forth, Eli and his two sons.
Is the Word of GOD not for correction too? Now, while something might have started as one thing, it can become another.
Romans 8:28 KJV
[28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.8.28.KJV
If original intentions can be converted to a real profit for the Kingdom of GOD and not the kingdoms of men, then this matter might be safe. However, if this remains unrepented, remember what GOD did to Jerusalem when they recaptured the Jewish slaves after releasing them in the sabbatical year. King Nebuchadnezzar was turned around to make his siege again against the city.
It will serve men well to remember, it is Christ's church, not man's. May the LORD remain merciful with us, because we still struggle to understand. May His prayer remain standing, "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." And for the church, in these trying times of mankind, may I suggest a serious effort again to the feeding schemes and assists for the Widows, Orphans and beggars on the street. That there may be mercy found within the Church of Jesus Christ. That there might be meat in the house of GOD.
Selah, Shalom.
