1 Peter 4:1-19 KJV
[1] Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; [2] that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. [3] For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: [4] wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: [5] who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. [6] For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. [7] But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. [8] And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. [9] Use hospitality one to another without grudging. [10] As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. [11] If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. [12] Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: [13] but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. [14] If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. [15] But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. [16] Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. [17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? [18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? [19] Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Note for 20250209
You know, here in the scripture today, it is as if we read, line by line, the undefiled truth written by Peter (Kefa) that stands in competition with the doctrine of men today. It is here where we learn that love covers a multitude of sin. Let me give it to you from the Complete Jewish Bible...
1 Kefa (1 Pe) 4:7-8 CJB
[7] The accomplishing of the goal of all things is close at hand. Therefore, keep alert and self-controlled, so that you can pray. [8] More than anything, keep loving each other actively; because love covers many sins.
https://bible.com/bible/1275/1pe.4.7-8.CJB
Now, if you paid attention, I gave just a little more than just the mention of love covering many sins. Because, you see, it requires elements of our faith that is stipulated in the previous verse; to keep alert and self-controlled, so we can pray. It is almost as if we can take it that if we are not watchful and exercise self-control, that we step away from the will of GOD. It is in an active love for one another that many sins are covered. It is not my words, friends, read it again.
Listen to the words of Paul to Timothy as he teaches him of the exact opposite to come.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV
[1] This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God: [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Man, today, elects his enemy in his neighbour, and from the words of Paul here that he wrote, the Spirit inspired text, we see what is at work when we do not obey Jesus in loving our neighbour as ourselves. Then, love does not cover many sins and being alert and self-controlled is to build up kingdoms for ourselves by throwing our neighbour under the bus.
Friends... You do realize that we are only looking at two verses of today's text at this time, right? Line by line, Peter reveals here to us from the understanding he received from Christ Himself, in person, face to face. We are reading of the net result of the disciple Peter, how he has learned by the Word of Christ and the lessons he learned when he stood in error, just as we read in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
In the second part of this chapter, what about the suffering we are assured of? No wonder this is not preached, because who will come into a church today that guarantees that we will suffer in the flesh?
[15] But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
Once again, the matter of self-control enters in. "Let none of you suffer as..." doesn't that imply that there is a choice in it? Peter said that he would not betray Jesus, and yet he denied Him three times in fear. Read again right here in this chapter...
[3] For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: [4] Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
Line by line we learn of the Truth of the life we live here on earth, that there is suffering in the flesh. The carnality of man is at enmity with the Spirit of GOD in us.
[14] If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
Let us also read the verses before this again...
When we go through these trials here on earth, we suffer in the flesh. And the sin that manifests is judged in the flesh. But, the Spirit learns what is of GOD. Try the spirits if they are of GOD. In self-control then, do we not deny the things of the flesh, putting it to death, resisting the devil that he will flee from us? So we keep the watch in ourselves, we fast from sin. We deny ourselves from riotous behaviour, by the strength of the Spirit poured out in us that is of GOD. We separate ourselves from sin unto GOD.
What is the definition of "holy"
adjective: holy; comparative,
dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred.
(of a person) devoted to the service of God.
morally and spiritually excellent.
At the end of the day, it is about the choices we make for Jesus Christ. And if we love Christ, we will love those that He loved enough to die for them. Did He die for the perfect, or sinners like you and me?
Why then do we read here from Peter that in an alert self-control we can cover many sins by our love/charity for others? It means you do not judge and condemn one another, but forgive and assist where help is needed, and so does the congregation of the saints come to full effect in the Spirit of GOD. I love and charity in us.
How can we then justify and excuse our harmful behaviours towards one another? Making others suffer in our love of self? Read again what Paul wrote to Timothy, and tell me we are not in the last times, while mankind loves himself at the cost of others? And in the act of "lovelessness" (hate) the many sins are not covered in charity any more, but exposed, shout out aloud in public in hate. No wonder Paul tells Timothy, from such, to turn away. By accusation and a lack of charity, man condemns one another straight to hell, as by offence and offenses, we deny the charity of Christ upon the cross for one another; and by our very own prayers, denying the forgiveness of sin to even ourselves. How foolish is that? What excuse shall we have at the Throne of GOD?
These notes are firstly for myself, friends. Don't you know that? It forms part of my removal of the log from my own eye. That is the process that I share here with you. It is the contemplation on my life and what it looks like measured against the Word of GOD. I don't know about you, but this I do know; that I still have a lot to learn in life. So if trials come in the flesh, while I am still here, while I can still make a choice for Christ in all the matters of the life we have been given, then I know that GOD has not yet given up on me. He is still working on me, delivering me from the error I found within. I am somewhat fearful to ask this question as it came to me, but am I then the only sinner left on the face of the earth?
Here is the good news: Christ died for sinners just like me. And by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, I am still afforded day by day the opportunity to turn away from sin. That is a charity from GOD. And because I am acutely aware of the inner struggles, my heart find compassion for those around me, who struggle in an alike manner as me, published or not. So, when a brother or sister in the faith fails, I know that so do I. Then I know we share the same hope unto the perfection that will come at the appearance of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In love then, many sins can be covered by the forgiveness we are afforded by Jesus Christ. That the sin in us, will remain behind in the flesh, which is of the dust of the earth; but that our breath may return to GOD from where it came. That which made us a living soul.
[6] For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
Did Jesus not go into the grave and spend 3 days with the dead? What does this verse say to you now? Exactly what Jesus shared with the living, that when we die we will become like the angels.
Selah, Shalom.

Verse for 20250209 (Extended from verse 21)
Romans 12:17-21 KJV
[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. [18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. [19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. [20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. [21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
