James 5:16 KJV

[16] Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

Good morning, friends! Today, I want to share a beautiful concept that we don’t often hear discussed: what it means to be chosen, equipped, and sent. We’ll explore each of these aspects separately and then bring them together for a deeper understanding. Let’s begin with the first step.

2. Devotional Reflection

Chosen

Let’s start with the following scripture:

Matthew 22:8–14 (KJV)

“Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not

worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So

those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found,

both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to

see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto

him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him

into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few

are chosen.”

As I was searching the scriptures, this passage stood out, highlighted by the Holy Spirit. The wedding feast was prepared initially for Israel, but as we know, many rejected the invitation. My

prayer is that their eyes will soon be opened, and they will return to their Father, just as we

have. However, this parable reveals more. It speaks of those invited from the highways—both

good and bad—to join the wedding feast with the Lamb, Jesus Christ, as His bride. Yet, there’s

a critical detail: the man without a wedding garment.

What is this wedding garment for the believer? Let’s look to scripture for clarity:

Colossians 3:10 (KJV)

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that

created him.”

Colossians 3:12, 14 (KJV)

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness,

humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering… And above all these things put on charity,

which is the bond of perfectness.”

Revelation 3:5 (KJV)

“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment… “

Revelation 19:7–8 (KJV)

“…for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was

granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the

righteousness of saints.”

The Word of God speaks clearly where my words might fall short. Preparing the wedding garment has two parts. First, baptism signifies putting on the “new man.” Then, as Paul

explains, we take further steps to be clothed in mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, patience,

and above all, love—the bond of perfection. In modern terms, this is like putting on a suit and tie

or a beautiful dress and shoes. God’s presence shouldn’t just dwell within us; it should overflow

from us.

John 10:10 (KJV)

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.“

This abundant life is what’s promised—a life overflowing with God’s presence. Returning to

Revelation 3:5, we see that those who overcome to the end of this life, holding fast to faith in

Christ, will be clothed in white raiment. Revelation 19:7–8 shows the bride, chosen and arrayed

in fine linen, ready for the marriage.

Being chosen, however, comes with a warning. The man without the wedding garment

represents those unprepared—like those whose lamps lack oil or who say, “My Lord delays His

coming” (Matthew 25:1–13; Matthew 24:48–51). They are cast out of the feast, with no one to

blame but themselves. Yet, there is still time to turn to the Father and be clothed in

righteousness.

Matthew 7:16–20 (KJV)

“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so

every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree

cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that

bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye

shall know them.“

Equipped

Now, let’s explore what it means to be equipped—a concept that can be more complex.

Equipping requires more than salvation; it demands a declaration: “Yes, Lord, here I am.” It’s not

an overnight process but a relationship—a walk with our Heavenly Father. In quiet moments,

God, the Potter, molds us, the clay, into vessels for His purpose.

Romans 9:20–21 (KJV)

“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that

formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same

lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? “

Often, in our human condition, we argue with God about what we think is right for us. We pursue

jobs or plans without consulting Him, assuming we know His will. Honestly, we fail daily in this,

and anyone reading this could likely list their own shortcomings. To be equipped, we must

surrender to the One who made us.

Psalm 138:8 (KJV)

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever:

forsake not the works of thine own hands.”

God’s mercy ensures He will perfect what concerns us. Now, let’s consider the second part of

equipping:

2 Timothy 3:16–17 (KJV)

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for

correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly

furnished unto all good works.”

All scripture—not just parts we like—is essential for equipping. We cannot follow God

halfheartedly.

Revelation 3:15–16 (KJV)

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then

because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

Lukewarm faith doesn’t suffice. God equips those fully committed to Him, not those who pick

and choose. If you’re wondering why God hasn’t given you a task, consider two possibilities.

First, God may have called you to act with boldness, but fear or uncertainty holds you back.

Trust that He will make a way. Second, you may have ignored His instructions, prioritizing other

things like work. If God feels silent, it may be because you’ve taken a wrong turn. The good

news? He stands with arms wide open, ready to receive you when you return.

Equipping comes from time spent with the Father in the quiet place, allowing Him to shape and

prepare you.

Sent

Finally, let’s look at what it means to be sent:

John 20:21 (KJV)

“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I

you.”

Jesus sets the example. As the Father sent Him, He sends us. We look to Christ’s life—where

He went, what He did—as our guide.

John 3:17 (KJV)

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him

might be saved.”

Jesus was sent to the world, and so are we. Every person we meet is invited to the wedding

feast, yet many ignore it or come unprepared. God’s heart is that all be saved, but we often

judge others before they encounter Jesus. While God saves whom He wills, if He sends

someone to you and you refuse to walk with them, He will find another willing vessel.

3. Closing Paragraph

To be chosen is to say, “Here I am, Father, use me.” To be equipped is to walk with Jesus,

saying, “Where to next? Let’s bring them all in.” To be sent is to listen to the Holy Spirit, following

the instructions of the One who chose and equipped you. God’s will is that none be lost (2 Peter

3:9), and we are His vessels to accomplish this. Be willing, spend time with God, and prepare,

for the hour is coming when only the chosen will go forward, and the doors will close. Don’t let

that be you.

Selah. Shalom.
