We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

Sadly, there is a sentiment in the world today to speak against the nation of the LORD as people please. Friends, this is not about politics, it is about the Word of GOD, especially as it is given in this chapter of Isaiah. The world has gone into some form of rebellion against the Creator, our Father in Heaven, and there is a spirit that has taken a stronghold in this world, against His Only Begotten Son. What does the Holy Spirit reveal to you of the Word that came by Isaiah?

2. Scripture Text

Isaiah 54:1-17 KJV

[1] Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. [2] Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; [3] for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. [4] Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. [5] For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. [6] For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. [7] For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. [8] In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. [9] For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. [10] For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. [11] O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. [12] And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones. [13] And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. [14] In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. [15] Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake. [16] Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. [17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

3. Devotional Reflection

I cannot change what is written here of Jerusalem, or of the elect of GOD. It will come to be exactly as the Prophets of GOD foretold. See here for yourself, how GOD said,

Isaiah 54:7 KJV

[7] For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.54.7.KJV

This chapter speaks of a future Jerusalem, it is important that you understand that. Even from the time of Isaiah, and when Jeremiah prophesied, we see the LORD hand over Jerusalem to the power of Nebuchadnezzar. But, the LORD brings them back out of Babylon. But, their return is not clean, for they mingled themselves with the nations (Ezra 9.) This, after the LORD had set aside the Northern Kingdom of Israel and they were scattered among the nations. (2 Kings 17)

In Jeremiah 30, the LORD declares His indignation against Judah and Jerusalem and there is a theme of a New coming Covenant unto Jeremiah 39. Here in Isaiah, we have a foresight of the same theme:

Isaiah 54:5-6 KJV

[5] For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. [6] For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

Of course, and this is what the New Testament is about, it is this promise of this Husband, as He, The Word of GOD made flesh (John 1:14) is rejected by Judah and Jerusalem. They missed the time of their visitation, and they did not receive their King, because He did not come in a comely form (reference Isaiah 53 again) when they should have known by the Words that came by Isaiah. So, the LORD blinded them. The thing is, "the little while" verse 7 speaks about, went into an extended time after 70 AD. (And friends, when we want to understand a "little while," it must be understood from an eternity viewpoint. GOD does not experience time like we do, to Him, a thousand years is as a day, remember?)

In 1947, the Jews (as the House of Judah has become known) were returned to that territory that was known as Palestine then, and declared as the nation of Israel, as a result of the Balfour declaration of 1917, for a Zionist aspiration. But, there is a world war between it, and of course, the regretful holocaust of the Jews. Yet, a fulfillment of prophetic promise by the Word of GOD.

Now, both the Jew and the Christian are waiting on their Messiah. For the Jew, they await his first coming, and the Christian awaits the return of Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD. This is very much a matter of, "To Be Continued..."

Now, for the average Christian believer, whether reborn or just an ally, who is not against us; it is important to see Israel (The House of Jacob, all twelve tribes, not just the Jews (House of Judah)) having prophecy by the Words of the same prophets that spoke of the Gentile inclusion to GOD'S promise of redemption; that Israel will be redeemed and restored. Outstanding, of course, they must first accept the betrothal (of their Husband) in a similar way as the Christian. The Altar of GOD, and the Temple in Jerusalem, has been cut off since 70AD, with no purification or sin offerings according to the Law of Moses since. Like I say, that little while turned into nearly 2000 years for the children of Jerusalem. That is what makes this chapter so beautiful friends, the LORD is not done with Judah, neither with the Biblical Israel, the Nation of GOD. In Revelation we see 12 tribes represented, as we see prophesied also in Ezekiel 37.

According to Paul in Romans, we that are known as the gentiles, are the Wild Olive Branch grafted into the Cultivated Olive Tree; the branch cannot reject the Tree, if so, the grafting process is rejected and we become a dead stick. So, it is beyond me how some can claim two things at once, being Christian, but still rejecting the Tree. It is an Oxymoron.

Today still, we sadly see the Jews at the Western Wall in lamention. They wail for the Temple, still blinded that they (like us) are the Temple of GOD. They cry for the Temple, but the doors of their heart are still closed. So, with the Heavenly Host, we are awaiting the moment that GOD will open their eyes, and we can be Brothers in the Kingdom of GOD, with all that will receive the Lord Jesus Christ, as the Son of GOD, our Betrothed.

At this moment in time, here in 2025, the hearts of the watchmen are waiting in anticipation, when the LORD will open their eyes with excitement, but also with lamentation. For we know what lies between this moment and that moment, the Week of Jacobs trouble. Oh, we lament for a Reign of Righteousness, by the Right Arm of GOD.

Now, that we have looked at about of history, and also of that which must still come, let us read the first 3 verses of this chapter again:

Isaiah 54:1-3 KJV

[1] Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. [2] Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; [3] for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

4. Verse of the Day

From the YouVersion Bible App (Expanded from verse 5)

Psalm 68:5-6 KJV

[5] A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation. [6] God setteth the solitary in families: He bringeth out those which are bound with chains: But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.68.5-6.KJV

Note on the Verse:

Consider just for a brief moment what was said of Jerusalem today in scripture, was she like a widow? Her inhabitants, and even the Gentiles, fatherless? There is a profound beauty in the Love of GOD that surpasses my understanding, but even in my limited scope of understanding, of this I am sure. I will not reject GOD or His elected King of kings, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

5. Optional Reading / Study Expansion

Jacob’s Trouble

It is not merely about "Jacob's Trouble” (Daniel wrote on this too in Daniel 12) alone, but let us look briefly at this section of Jeremiah 30:

Jeremiah 30:7-11 KJV

[7] Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. [8] For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: [9] but they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. [10] Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. [11] For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jer.30.7-11.KJV

Daniel 12:1-3 KJV

[1] And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. [2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

https://bible.com/bible/1/dan.12.1-3.KJV

Friends, you cannot see the end in clear view without understanding the Merciful Kindness of our Creator. He will correct those He loves, He will remove their blemishes, even for the sake of His Own Name. And, there is a matter of blemish for the tares that was sown in by the enemies of GOD. So, there is a purification coming to His creation. And, for that purpose came the promised Messiah, as declared by GOD first in Genesis 3:15 to the Serpent that tricked the woman. The Messiah inaugurates “The New Covenant” of which you can read more in chapters 30 to 39 of the Book of Jeremiah. We had a hint of the Messiah in the previous Devotional, when we looked at Isaiah 53, as we also looked at “Who is it?”

6. Closing Paragraph

Are you excited yet? Do not reject the tree to which you are being joined to, to share the inheritance. The likes of the early disciples and apostles, were early adopters of this New Covenant in Jesus Christ, and many from the Jews, since then. Now the Question: Were they "forgotten" as long as some to even this day has been forgotten? Of course not, they were accepted and remembered even while Jesus Christ was still here in the flesh.

Isaiah 54:7 KJV

[7] For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.54.7.KJV

Have you forgotten? Are you forgotten? Or... Is it still a matter of, "To Be Continued?"

Selah, Shalom.
