Note for 20250709 - Sons in Faith - Part 13 - 2 Timothy 3 - Perilous Times
Sons in Faith
2 Timothy
Part 13 - 2 Timothy 3 - Perilous Times
2 Timothy 3:1-17 KJV
[1] This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. [6] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, [7] ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. [8] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. [9] But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. [10] But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, [11] persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. [12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. [13] But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. [14] But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; [15] and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Note for 20250709
2 Timothy 3 is packed with teaching that goes much deeper than the obvious and leads into a verse that should grab every believer's attention:
2 Timothy 3:12 KJV
[12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
https://bible.com/bible/1/2ti.3.12.KJV
The interesting thing about the word "all" is that it has an inclusion of every one that qualifies, excluding none. But, in a world devoid of knowledge and understanding, not even persecution is understood. Christ said that the world would hate us, because it hated Him first. And even in that statement, we see How Christ walked ahead in what we must follow. The first fruit of what He also explained to His disciples as a form of baptism He must go through. John the Baptist said of Christ that He will baptise with the Holy Spirit and with fire. In order to have better understanding, maybe I should coin it like this: Through much trials and tribulations will we enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
But, a great deal of our reading today focuses on these that would come in opposition for us, even as the previous chapter mentions that Timothy is a soldier for Jesus Christ and speaks of warring. We further know that Paul gave instruction for the "soldiers" in Ephesians 6, which happens to be the very church Timothy was the Bishop of. Since this is the last letter by Paul I know of, we have to presume that at this point Timothy at very least had in his knowledge the contents of Paul's letter to Ephesus. We cannot neglect the letter to Ephesus that John was to send by instruction of Jesus Christ, as we find it in Revelation 2.
Now, to truly have a grasp of what Paul is speaking about here, if we had to take a "deep dive" approach, we would have to bring in the knowledge that Timothy would have at this point, which Paul reminds him of in this very chapter. So too, would we have to have some inkling of who Jannes and Jambres was, who is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, but was known by Jewish traditions as the chief wizards of Pharaoh that opposed Moses. Friends, we have to consider that Timothy was highly informed and taught of Paul. This letter bears a sentiment of reminder, not so much teaching itself, more like an encouragement and exhortation to remain on course, instead of being overcome with grief for Paul's current predicament. The sentiment is, "there is yet much to be done and mind."
Now, there is an element of this perilous time that Paul speaks about that was revealed to me last night, before I even read this chapter this morning. In fact, I was taken down a bit of a "rabbit trail" which was given as a reading guide at the bottom of yesterday's note (which will go out today) on the Blogspot post. I also have it in PDF format and it is available on request.
For days now (and those that listen to the audio note can confirm,) I have been speaking about how I have been guided that the form in which the daily notes are done will be changing. How it might not be as regular as it has been for years now, but that it might take on a form of dealing with more than one series or teaching at a time. And when I say teaching, I mean the teaching that I receive and share with you.
These that Paul writes about here, which he also explains in Ephesians 6:12-13 and why we should stand dressed in the whole Armour of GOD, speaks to who the real battle is against. For understanding, Paul uses Jannes and Jambres as examples, but so does Jude write about them, speaking of "spots in our feast of charities" and also Peter in 2 Peter 2. We are shown these as Jesus meets Legion and drives them out into a herd of pigs. You know, the ones for whom the lake of fire was prepared, where people are walking towards willingly. Yes, indeed, we are speaking of the spirit of the anti-Christ, whom Jesus said was at work already when He was still with us in the flesh. You know, those who say they are Jews but are not. Let's look again how they are explained to Timothy here in this chapter:
2 Timothy 3:2-9 KJV

Let us jump to Ephesians 6 and see how it is explained there:
Ephesians 6:12 KJV
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
https://bible.com/bible/1/eph.6.12.KJV
Now, today, for the first time, I am going to bring you an extract from Jude that only looks at what Paul is reminding Timothy about, but by Jude's description of them.
Jude 1:4, 6-8, 10-19 KJV
[4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
[6] And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. [7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. [8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
[10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. [11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. [12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; [13] raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. [14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, [15] to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. [16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. [17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; [18] how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. [19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

I know this is a lot to receive in one session, but as we approach the time, even the hour of Satan, it is crucial for all to know, who might face a measure or even all of that dark hour that has been prophesied of for millennia. In fact, the urgency was apparent even in the time of Paul, Jude and Peter, how much more now.
As long as we continue to struggle against the flesh, we war not against the enemy but are subverted to focus on their captives. It is like kicking the enslaved, the one that has been abused and deceived. It is like slapping around the victim instead of arresting the criminal. I know I paint the picture grim, because it is grim, as long as we look at matters in respect of person. John also gave us a teaching on this, look:
1 John 4:1-3 KJV
[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. [2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: [3] and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Are you starting to see the level of infiltration? Now, the alarming part of this is not what you have heard here already, the alarming part is this: This is only like an introduction to the subject. It runs deep throughout the history of mankind all the way back to that moment in the garden in Eden, with Genesis 3:15 being the first prophecy in this regard, decreed by GOD The Creator Himself.
Last night, as this was revealed to me in a fuller sense, I was overwhelmed with urgency. Because this infiltration is even in the household, but always reaches for the highest position to cause as much corruption as possible. Indeed, we can see what Jesus spoke of in Matthew 25:41
Matthew 25:41 KJV
[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

This is just an introduction, friends. Even now, I have given more than most can receive. For years I have been working under a banner of Bethlehem, "The House of Bread" but for understanding what lies ahead, we should speak from the House of Steak.
Selah, Shalom. (As the Lord gives, so will I share more, but this might require a re-study of the entire Word of GOD)
