Luke 8:1-15 KJV

[1] And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, [2] and certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, [3] and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.  [4] And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: [5] A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. [6] And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. [7] And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. [8] And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. [9] And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? [10] And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. [11]  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. [12] Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. [13] They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. [14] And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. [15] But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Note for 20250415

Today, before we get into the main message of the day it is very important to take note of those certain women that ministered unto Christ and His disciples of their substance. Though it is not the main focus of the day, the relevance is huge, and remember, though we are looking at specific matters, we are still in effect reading through the entire New Testament. Ever wondered how Jesus and the disciples were sustained, here you go, Luke answers that question for us. And Mary Magdalene is mentioned first.

Of course, today is about the parable of the Sower (as we know it, but remember headings in the Word were added too, by man.) We are looking at the seed that was sown, where it fell and what became of it. And chiefly to understand of course is this...

Luke 8:11 KJV

[11]  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.8.11.KJV

This is a very well known parable, and it is not my intention to repeat that which you have heard so many times over and over again, yet, it appears (even in the parable) that many soon become seedless, or that the Word of GOD brings no result in them at all. Still seedless, I suppose. The matter that must be understood is that the true seed is pure, it is perfect. It is where it lands that makes the difference, whether it bears fruit or not. Who conditions those that hear the word of GOD, as much, who tills the ground? Dare I ask... What disturbs the soil, even turning all the way around, to be ready to receive that which bears life? Is the place for rocks and thorns in the good field and is the seed not protected by the scarecrows? Who sows his seed at the side of the road?

Who still sows the Word of GOD, and how long will the Sower still be around? You see, just in the last few hours, some news found its way to me. Some news that is worthwhile mentioning to all who think that life will carry on the sameway forever. Some disturbing news from Great Britain, where believers no face up to 2 years imprisonment for praying or preaching in public. Is it for all faiths? Nope, not at all, it is just against Christians, for Islam is permitted to continue, but the Christian is prevented, threatened with Jail time. Some scarecrows have been brought out it seems, but this time, not to scare away the birds from stealing the seed, no, this time it appears it is to scare away the Sower himself. Shall the land then lay barren? Will the field be seedless?

Who thought that Britain would go this way, as the enemy of the Word of GOD overwhelmed the borders of an open society, and a different kind of seed was sown that left the field covered now in tares and thistles. What do you harvest from a field of thorns?

How long shall we stand ignorant, friends? Times are not changing, they have changed already. If there was a wartime scenario, the enemy is within the city, devouring all that was left of what was good. The fields are overgrown, for care was dropped to maintain it. Yes, other matters received more attention, and before they knew it, the field was ruined. Shall the field then lay barren for a forced sabbatical year, that the soil may rest? Or shall the seed be removed forever? Only GOD the Father knows that timing. Once more, just in time past, and now, maybe more than ever; our brothers and sisters are prevented, just as it was in the time of Israel's exile to Babylon. Not just prevented, but also slaughtered, as we receive the news of beheadings and crucifixion once more. In the Christian news cycles it comes as "Britain has fallen." They are left now with an embargo against the Sower. The field due to be overgrown. At least they might still have the pub to down their sorrows, until that is taken away too.

Where are we then in the larger scheme of things? We're not warned to keep the watch? Here, as we are on approach to the feast in memory of what Jesus Christ, the Good Sower, did for us; the enemy is on the streets and the believer is forced indoors. Shall they set the cities ablaze? We were told to keep the watch, but we left dead puppets in the field. Who is left to blame that the crows came in? Now there is a different kind of crop upon the field, one that can only offer up great harm. Yes, the fields are left seedless, as man preach their sermons of prosperity for their kingdoms in this world. Friends, the fields were left neglected. Now they have become seedless, if not now, then soon indeed. Shall the plow be sent into the field before fire is set to burn up the brambles, tares, thorns and thistles? We are looking at the results of carelessness. A legacy received from our fathers, and that legacy prolonged as carelessness was inherited too.

And here is South Africa, are we then like lambs in pasture, or standing in queues to be slaughtered? But, like ostriches, heads stuck in the sand, the threat is not perceived for a lack of seeing. Might it be the same elsewhere? Did the Word not warn us that the entire world will be offended at Israel in the end? What does the world look like now then? Heads in the sand, u aware, dead puppets in the field as the field goes seedless. Oh friends! Look up!

Selah, Shalom.

Let’s expand the scripture:

Matthew 21:12-14 KJV

[12] And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, [13] and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. [14] And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

Let Us Remember:

Exodus 20:1-19 KJV

[1] And God spake all these words, saying, [2] I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. [3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: [5] thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; [6] and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. [7] Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. [8] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: [10] but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: [11] for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. [12] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. [13] Thou shalt not kill. [14] Thou shalt not commit adultery. [15] Thou shalt not steal. [16] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. [17] Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. [18] And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. [19] And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
