Luke 6:13-38 KJV
[13] And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; [14] Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, [15] Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphæus, and Simon called Zelotes, [16] and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor. [17] And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judæa and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; [18] and they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. [19] And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. [20] And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for your's is the kingdom of God. [21] Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. [22] Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. [23] Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. [24] But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. [25] Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. [26] Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. [27] But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, [28] bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. [29] And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also. [30] Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. [31] And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. [32] For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. [33] And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. [34] And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. [35] But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. [36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. [37] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: [38] give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

First Instructions
Just look at where everyone came from, even from as far as modern day Lebanon, Tyre and Sidon. And He chose twelve unto Himself, disciples, whom He also called apostles.
This is the account we have here by Luke, similar in many ways to the Sermon on the Mount. Now, to put it in perspective, I have an entire series on the Sermon on the Mount available on SoundCloud as a playlist. This in our reading today is much like the beatitudes we find in Matthew 5. In other words, what I am trying to tell you is that there is too much here today to consider in just one sitting. And yet, we must; because of the time that we are in. So, we will look at this from that:
Luke 6:36-38 KJV
[36] Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. [37] Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: [38] give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.6.36-38.KJV
How merciful has GOD been with mankind? How merciful has GOD been with you? How long has He waited for you to come to Him? How long has He waited for you to start obeying His instruction? Did you get where you are in your faith in just one moment, or has GOD graciously waited upon you? Did He bear with your misunderstandings, even kept you safe when you did wrong and quickly forgave you when you came to repentance? What is the testimony that is in you, regarding the Mercies of GOD our Father in Heaven towards you personally? How much Grace has GOD shown you, for you to hear this today?
This too, you should know, these instructions here in Luke, it is written that it was spoken to the disciples of Jesus Christ. Yes, including even the traitor Judas.
It is here we learn that we will meet that measure by which we measured. Judge not, less you be judged; if you condemn, so will you be condemned. As you measure out for others, so will it be measured out for you. Now, it might sound that I am merely repeating what is written, and sure it is because it is written perfectly; but can you hear and make this all true in your daily lives, not just when you are seen at church? This is about the measure you measure by in your heart and mind. It is by the way you treat a stranger, even those that are unlike you. Read this section of today over and over again, because if you misunderstand this, you will miss how to conduct yourselves in the Name of Jesus Christ.
We will judge, that is sure. Even when we say we don't, our nature here on earth betrays us. What is it to give hearing to 1 John 4:1, to try the spirits if they be of GOD? And what of what Paul says here:
1 Corinthians 6:3 KJV
[3] Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.6.3.KJV
Oh, we will judge, but so will we be judged. This is about the measure by which we judge, how we come to our conclusions and does it include consultation with the Word of GOD. The one that says that he does not judge, is he then not an hypocrite, for he judged to come to that conclusion. Some might say it is a consideration, and yet does it reach a conclusion that guides behaviour. Can we judge by mercy and grace, as our Father GOD in Heaven dealt with us, even sending us our Salvation in the form of His only Begotten Son? He nailed His Word to the Cross, so that we may live. That, my friends, is love; even as Jesus willingly went to suffering and death on our behalf. Is that the nature of things here in the world? Or would this world have your head at every occasion, as we walk in the valley of the Shadow of Death? A place where anyone or anything can rob you of your life; and yet, we live. Is that not mercy from above? More than just mercy, but also protected from above.
Is it not fair judgment, that we be treated as we have treated others. Is it not fair that we be judged by our own standards? If we live by the sword, that we die by it; and what is the Word of GOD? Condemning one another, saying this and that about one another (usually behind their backs.) What mercy do we deserve, and who can say he is without such error, in the presence of Him that knows all?
You will do well to mark this chapter in Luke as a brief "First Instructions" in your Bible and to revisit it often. Just before you condemn another, to remember all that you have done and find compassion as the Father had compassion on you.
We are in the last stretch home, aren't we? So, are you ready yet? The truth is slightly terrifying, even as we meet it with a Hope in Jesus Christ. Because, if we were fully ready, that our race here in life was run, then we would have been collected by the angels of the LORD. Thing is, we have seen those that have completed their race, and at their graves we mourned for them. So, while we still have the breath of GOD within us, we can respond to what we have read here today. Yes, we can turn our lives around to Christ. We can walk in a better way, and we can take on the forgiveness that was given by mercy and grace. It's not too late now, in this moment that we read and hear the Word of GOD; but, the next moments after that are guaranteed to none. It is in this moment, that we can reset our lives, to walk in the way of Jesus Christ.
Selah, Shalom

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV
