Mark 9:30-50 KJV
[30] And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. [31] For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. [32] But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. [33] And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? [34] But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. [35] And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. [36] And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, [37] Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. [38] And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. [39] But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. [40] For he that is not against us is on our part. [41] For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. [42] And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. [43] And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: [44] where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. [45] And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: [46] where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. [47] And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: [48] where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. [49] For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. [50] Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

Note for 20250121
On the day of writing here, we are attending another memorial again. The wife of a friend has passed on. Each time we are faced with the cyclical nature of life, we are so easily brought to contemplate on life itself. What is life, and who are these little ones Christ is speaking of? Are we not the little ones of GOD? Are we, who believe in Jesus Christ, not called the children of GOD? Then I remember what is written, mourn with those that mourn. The sense of loss man experience pulls at the heart. More so, when death remains unexplained. It is like sending off a loved one to an unknown place, not knowing whether we will see them again. For the matters between GOD and a man, it is mostly only known in secret. It reminds us of dust to dust, and consideration is given to the judgment that will come. Shall they be resurrected first, or shall they be resurrected at the last day? For each, that truth is only known by GOD. That makes a memorial or burial hard for the believer to navigate, because we are in mourning, but we also know of the possible joy.
Who then wants to be the greatest? And, in knowledge of scriptures like today's, who wants to be the least now, only to be the greatest in the hereafter? May death not be a consideration, in our knowledge of the promise of eternal life. Yet should we be careful to navigate this life in truth, admit when we are not purview to the truth of each. Yet is it insensitive to speak such truth to those who stand in mourning, for their burden at this time is overwhelming. Who knows the nature of the secret man, what is done behind closed doors that goes unrepented? The Christian thus has this knowledge within, there is one of two outcomes for those who have finished their race here on earth. We know, our Saviour will return and resurrect the dead. Some to redemption, but sadly, some to condemnation.
So, have these memorials become a place where the end of man is most contemplated? Shall we meet a fate worse than a millstone around the neck being cast into the abyss? For many, this is the only type of day that meets such consideration, but it is at the forefront of the believers mind. For we are advocates of the resurrection unto eternal life with Jesus Christ. This is like the harvest Christ spoke of, some to the storeroom of GOD and some to the fire spoken of here in the scripture today.
May I then invite you this day to join us in this consideration? Who truly knows when his breath will cease? We are here one day, and gone the next. Life has a final result, and at this time still, that which comes at this threshold for each is obscured from the rest. Now we know in part, but one day, we will know in full when the Truth is revealed.
So, while we still draw breath, it is important to consider our neighbours well. If then a little one of GOD, how have we treated them here on earth? May it be found that we were helpers of the children of GOD. Servants to the Most High GOD.
Selah, Shalom.

Matthew 13:44 KJV
[44] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
