John 2:13-25 KJV
[13] And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, [14] and found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: [15] and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; [16] and said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. [17] And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. [18] Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? [19] Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. [20] Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? [21] But he spake of the temple of his body. [22] When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. [23] Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. [24] But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, [25] and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Note for 20241203
You know, as we look here at this scripture, we mustn't forget what the feast of Passover resembles. That is in memory of the Angel of the LORD passing over the house marked with the blood of a lamb, and went not in to cut off the first born child.
In this scripture there is thus a combining of these words into a single concept. Even the overturning of the tables and the driving out of those who made the house of GOD common with their trade. It brings the body of Christ into a similarity as the House of GOD. And also speaks of those things that make the true House of GOD, common and what defiles it. To Moses, GOD said at the burning bush, remove the shoes from upon thy feet, and here, people treat the house of GOD as a common market place. But the true House of GOD is in us, how do we make that which is intended for holiness, common and defiled? Common trading, common thoughts and feelings, in that which is set apart for GOD.
Christ drove out these common things out of the temple in our text today, but by which He compared it to, He drove sin out of the body and made it holy unto God again. He removed the sin and forgives and pardons us before the Lord our GOD. He cleanses us, as He cleansed the temple here. Removing iniquity from within, refusing it a dwelling place in the House of GOD.
These money changers traded in animals for the sacrifice, and in this the animals were driven out of the temple, but Christ remained, for He alone is worthy to be the Lamb of GOD for the sin of mankind. No other, nothing else is counted worthy to stand in that place. In Christ alone comes salvation from the LORD. All others were driven out, in this very moment there is a Spiritual dominance proclaimed over all that came before. It further is extended in the Words of Christ when He said, "...nobody comes unto the Father except by me." "The Father is in me, and I am in Him (the Father.)" So too was the Holy Spirit sent in the Name of Jesus Christ, so we too can be in Him.
Friends, what is Holy unto the LORD? Man thinks of himself as lord over his own circumstance, but GOD alone rules over all. Man was created by GOD, in the image of GOD, for the purpose of GOD. The Word of GOD can only remain in the House of GOD that is designated and sanctified to GOD. All other designations make that which is set apart as Holy unto GOD, a common "marketplace" for the worldly transactions. It defies the house of GOD. As these money changers and all common sacrifices must be driven out for the House of the Lord to be rededicated for the purpose of GOD. And instead of the blood of animals, Christ gave His own to purify us for GOD. Essentially, bring us back to a state where GOD can walk with man, as He did in the Garden in Eden.
Now, as Christ cleared the temple of its defilement here, so too must iniquity be expelled from us. We must be washed and sanctified by Christ, even by His Blood. For this He gave His life, for the eternal sacrifice for the cleansing of mankind, so man can be redeemed by GOD. Even to bring man again to the former state, when GOD had pleasure in mankind. When GOD created man, he did not proclaim alone that His creation was good, as He said of all other creations. No! He said that it was very good. (Genesis 1)
For whose use are you dedicated then? As a vessel, whom will you please and serve? Will we remain common, or become holy for the purposes of GOD our Creator, our Father in Heaven? For this Christ died, to redeem mankind back to GOD. As the only Begotten Son of GOD, we are His inheritance, for we are born of GOD. Man was created by God for GOD. We are His possession; not to be possessed by any other, nor to stand for ourselves alone, for in so doing we stand contrary to His Will.
Permit Christ to drive out of you, all that does not belong in you and to wash and clean you for the use of our Father in Heaven. Let Him evict from you, all that trespass in you, for you belong to God.
Selah, Shalom
