The Light of Men

The Audio Version of today’s note

John 1:1-14 KJV

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. [6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. [7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. [8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. [9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. [11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Note for 20241130

The Aleph and the Tav. The Beginning and the End. The Word of GOD, that came to mankind and made atonement for our sin. The fulfilment of the Law and Prophets; the Light unto our feet. The Good Shepherd, the Only Begotten Son of GOD; our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Seed of the woman, the Son of Man; the First Fruit of the Resurrection and the Hope of all mankind. The Strong Man of The House, our Messiah and our Great Hope unto Salvation from corruption and death, to be redeemed back to our Father GOD Almighty in Heaven, The Creator.

I would carry on, but there are too many more names and titles that we know our Lord by, even our Prince of Peace and High Priest forever in the order of Melchisedek.

What John writes here in the opening of his testimony of Christ Jesus, is profound indeed and the source of hope and inspiration for me for a very long time. John here, the disciple that Jesus loved, shares with us some insights about Christ that He gained from his very close relationship with our Saviour. Being also the one that lay with his head on the chest of Christ at the Last Supper.

As an opening, or introduction to this Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John, we get a glimpse into how John knew Christ personally. You can almost say, he speaks from the closest circle of friends of Jesus Christ.

Once more, I read here and consider the parallax fault we as man make when viewing Heavenly things from the perspective of a man. John here gives us an introduction of who Christ Jesus is, even how he came to know Christ in all his interaction with Christ Jesus. Christ said that He is in the Father and the Father in Him. He said that He said nothing except that which He heard of His Father. Oh, and what of all the promises He made to us who believe in Him. That He is the Light, the Life and the Truth.

With this consideration securely in place, let us then consider what it means that He was with God in the beginning. If then the Word of GOD, then the very Word of GOD that spoke all of creation into being. Nothing was created except by Him, the Word of GOD.

Now, what does John say about those who received Him, that is Jesus Christ the Word of GOD; even those who believe upon His Name? Yes, that they may BECOME the sons of GOD. We are often so boldly looking at the concept of Salvation, that we forget to see "the next step" in the process. That is to see where this Salvation by Jesus Christ will take us. In other words (and I must be careful here) what will the net result of salvation, deliverance and redemption be? That we read, of course, in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, as given to John on the isle of Patmos. In short though, we can summarise it like this, that we will be with Christ, where He is, as Christ is; even siblings of Christ as joint-heirs with Christ. Of course, this said too, that these statements are a bit of a coalition of statements of Christ and those that testified of Christ, including the Law and the Prophets of GOD, even by the confirmation of our Father GOD Himself.

This "sons of GOD" statement is profound, and will get much more substance as we progress through the four Gospels by the disciples of Christ, that was kept for us as a testimony of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. I know that there are many that have concerns about translations and versions, but think about this for a moment. What did GOD permit to endure until this time for us? Aren't we to receive the Word of GOD in Spirit and in Truth? Did we not receive the HOLY Spirit of GOD, that Christ said would bring to remembrance to us, all that He had said? Yes, we have these Gospels, but, we also have (and I profess it senior) the Testament of Jesus Christ in the HOLY Spirit of GOD in us. Does the Holy Spirit not confirm, even to the point that we shout, "Amen!" It is by this Same Holy Spirit that we cry out to GOD Almighty, "Abba Father."

The net result is thus that we will become the sons of GOD, in the New Heaven and New Earth that is to come, even to dwell with GOD in the Heavenly Tabernacle with GOD, that will descend to the New Earth as we read in Revelation 21. Family of GOD, sitting at His Table, being in His Holy Presence forever. If then sons of GOD, the King of kings and Lord of lord's, then princes. As much to say, that when we are taken to that place for which we were created for, having endured all until the end of what we know here, that we will come into the first day of standing in perfection before the Lord our GOD forever. When we are delivered as babies to the realm of GOD, then shall life start for us as the sons of GOD, and we will taste from that which have come in a very new and perfect day. All that we have endured is until that end, that we may stand in that place which we were called for. Which we have been qualified for, to be sanctified by the Lord on the day of rewards.

To put it plainly then for the sake of understanding: this life is thus similar to an audition or an interview for what comes next. This is the testing period before we become the sons of GOD, ordained by GOD to the ultimate office to which He has called us. In a life that is everlasting, this is almost like the conceiving period. We have not been born to everlasting life yet. We are still in the womb. When the birth pangs are done, we will be delivered into the everlasting life with Christ.

Remember how Christ said that we will judge the angles? When? Remember how Christ said, that we will rule and reign with Him? When? Over what shall we rule and reign, and where? Now, we know in part only, but when the appointed time comes; then will we be delivered into all that is known. We will be known and we will know all in Christ Jesus. We await our perfection in Christ, we strive for it here, even the righteousness of Christ. But, we will be delivered unto it by our Lord and Saviour, when the harvest is brought into the Storeroom of GOD. Do we know “the full” of it now? No. We do not even have a concept of what the concept will be of such a great deliverance. Have we been redeemed? Not yet, we are still here. Now what then is promised of that which is to come, and are we not saved by our faith in Jesus Christ, that is accounted to us as righteousness and partakers of the Salvation by Grace.

Now, we only have faint perceptions of the promise to come, but we will stand in full knowledge of it with Christ when we are redeemed back to GOD. Like Abraham, we believe what GOD said, and we await it patiently. GOD knows best, and He will complete what He started in us.

I hope this brings you comfort, even though it will inspire you to remain strong and loyal to the end of what we know here and now. What awaits the believer is of the Promises of GOD.

Shalom.

Philippians 2:4-11 KJV

[4] Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. [5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: [6] who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: [7] but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: [8] and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Highlights from “As it Happened”

Job 38:4-41 KJV

[4] Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding. [5] Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? Or who hath stretched the line upon it? [6] Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner stone thereof; [7] When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? [8] Or who shut up the sea with doors, When it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? [9] When I made the cloud the garment thereof, And thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, [10] And brake up for it my decreed place, And set bars and doors, [11] And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: And here shall thy proud waves be stayed? [12] Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; And caused the dayspring to know his place; [13] That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, That the wicked might be shaken out of it? [14] It is turned as clay to the seal; And they stand as a garment. [15] And from the wicked their light is withholden, And the high arm shall be broken. [16] Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? [17] Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? Or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? [18] Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? Declare if thou knowest it all. [19] Where is the way where light dwelleth? And as for darkness, where is the place thereof, [20] That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, And that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof? [21] Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? Or because the number of thy days is great? [22] Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? Or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, [23] Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, Against the day of battle and war? [24] By what way is the light parted, Which scattereth the east wind upon the earth? [25] Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, Or a way for the lightning of thunder; [26] To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; On the wilderness, wherein there is no man; [27] To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; And to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? [28] Hath the rain a father? Or who hath begotten the drops of dew? [29] Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? [30] The waters are hid as with a stone, And the face of the deep is frozen. [31] Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, Or loose the bands of Orion? [32] Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? [33] Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? [34] Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, That abundance of waters may cover thee? [35] Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, And say unto thee, Here we are? [36] Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who hath given understanding to the heart? [37] Who can number the clouds in wisdom? Or who can stay the bottles of heaven, [38] When the dust groweth into hardness, And the clods cleave fast together? [39] Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? Or fill the appetite of the young lions, [40] When they couch in their dens, And abide in the covert to lie in wait? [41] Who provideth for the raven his food? When his young ones cry unto God, They wander for lack of meat.

Job 39:1-30 KJV

[1] Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? Or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? [2] Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? Or knowest thou the time when they bring forth? [3] They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, They cast out their sorrows. [4] Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; They go forth, and return not unto them. [5] Who hath sent out the wild ass free? Or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? [6] Whose house I have made the wilderness, And the barren land his dwellings. [7] He scorneth the multitude of the city, Neither regardeth he the crying of the driver. [8] The range of the mountains is his pasture, And he searcheth after every green thing. [9] Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, Or abide by thy crib? [10] Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow the valleys after thee? [11] Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? Or wilt thou leave thy labour to him? [12] Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, And gather it into thy barn? [13]  Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? Or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? [14] Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, And warmeth them in dust, [15] And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, Or that the wild beast may break them. [16] She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: Her labour is in vain without fear; [17] Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, Neither hath he imparted to her understanding. [18] What time she lifteth up herself on high, She scorneth the horse and his rider. [19] Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder? [20] Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? The glory of his nostrils is terrible. [21] He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: He goeth on to meet the armed men. [22] He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; Neither turneth he back from the sword. [23] The quiver rattleth against him, The glittering spear and the shield. [24] He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: Neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet. [25] He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; And he smelleth the battle afar off, The thunder of the captains, and the shouting. [26] Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, And stretch her wings toward the south? [27] Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, And make her nest on high? [28] She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, Upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place. [29] From thence she seeketh the prey, And her eyes behold afar off. [30] Her young ones also suck up blood: And where the slain are, there is she.
