Hebrews 3:1-19 KJV

[1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; [2] who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. [3] For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. [4] For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. [5] And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; [6] but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. [7] Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, [8] Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, In the day of temptation in the wilderness: [9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, And saw my works forty years. [10] Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, And said, They do alway err in their heart; And they have not known my ways. [11] So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) [12] Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. [13] But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. [14] For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; [15] while it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. [16] For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. [17] But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? [18] And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? [19] So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Note for 20241119

Today might seem somewhat counter speech, but it is not. We look at the counter faith, unbelief and the price that is paid for it. We look at what has been left for us as an example of it, what was recorded for our benefit; so we can learn in the hearing of it.

Let me then ask a question for you to consider. Who were kept in the wilderness, just the unbelievers; or, did those who believed and trusted in the LORD their GOD have to stay that 40 years in the wilderness too? Look at Joshua and Caleb, where they not ready to take the land as the LORD instructed? Did they not give a Good report and trusted the LORD to give it in their hands. Yet, had they remained in the wilderness for 40 years with the house of unbelief. Yes, they had to wait, because those with them stood in unbelief.

In that there is a remarkable lesson for us as believers to learn. That one in a house, can make all of the house suffer along with them in unbelief. There are many things in life where one may say, "where is the harm in it?" The unseen harm is that which is withheld from the house because of unbelief. Israel stayed in the wilderness, until those that stood in unbelief were no longer left alive among them. Yes, it is hard to consider, but to consider it, we must. The harm is in the withholding of mercy and grace, the stay that is placed on a blessing, even 40 years in the case of Israel. Now this question, does GOD change? GOD remains full of grace and mercy for He permitted them to live out their lives in the wilderness, but yet, kept Joshua and Caleb, so they could enter into the promised land for their faith remained in GOD.

There is much more to learn from this, but this should suffice for today. Our entering into the rest of the LORD is dependent on our Faith in Jesus Christ. So have we who believe, waited with those of unbelief. We have received inner peace, yes; but we all wait together on the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Those that stand in unbelief can no more enter into the Kingdom of GOD, than those who stood in unbelief among Israel could enter into the promised land.

For many know only their fate, and their ultimate inheritance, when they cross the threshold of life through death, as Israel crossed the Jordan. Now, the believer crosses that path while still alive, laying the life of self down, for the life of Christ. By our faith, we have died to this world and a life of sin, with Christ; and with Him, we have risen from the dead and become a new creature in Him, that we might live, even to an eternal life with Christ; because of what He did. He that does not believe in Christ Jesus cannot have part in that, just like there were those of Israel, that remained on the wilderness side of the Jordan. They could not come in.

My question to you today, is how long shall we suffer in the house of unbelief, before mankind comes to their senses? What does the Word of GOD say in this regard? What did the prophets and the revelation by the Lord Jesus Christ say?

Know, the promised salvation comes by faith in Christ Jesus alone.

Verse of The Day

From the YouVersion Bible App (Expanded from verse 12)

John 15:12-27 KJV

[12] This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. [13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. [16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. [17]  These things I command you, that ye love one another. [18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. [19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. [20] Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep your's also. [21] But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. [22] If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. [23] He that hateth me hateth my Father also. [24] If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. [25] But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. [26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: [27] and ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
