Parables of Christ - Part 24

The Persistent Widow

The Audio Version of today’s note is advised

Luke 18:1-8 KJV

[1] And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; [2] saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: [3] and there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. [4] And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; [5] yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. [6] And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. [7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Note for 20241027

The last verse here in our reading this morning has been the source of my fear and trembling as I workout my Salvation with the LORD of all Creation. Will Christ find faith on the earth when He comes?

Selah.

Today, though, we look at this widow that continually troubled the unjust judge to avenge her on her advisory. Jesus compares it to how we should pray, stating that our Father in Heaven will avenge us upon our enemies. Let us look at the next Psalm on my reading plan of the Psalms.

Psalm 108:1-13 KJV

[1] O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. [2] Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. [3] I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: And I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. [4] For thy mercy is great above the heavens: And thy truth reacheth unto the clouds. [5] Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: And thy glory above all the earth; [6] That thy beloved may be delivered: Save with thy right hand, and answer me. [7] God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. [8] Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; [9] Moab is my washpot; Over Edom will I cast out my shoe; Over Philistia will I triumph. [10] Who will bring me into the strong city? Who will lead me into Edom? [11]  Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? And wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts? [12] Give us help from trouble: For vain is the help of man. [13] Through God we shall do valiantly: For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Do you think, from what you just read, that the parable of the persistent widow speaks also to this prayer of King David? Who did King David go to? Who did he trust to bring the victory for him and the host that went out with him to the battle front?

Who is mankind's advisory? Or, shall I ask this, who have the unrighteous masses of our current age surrender to? Has this world conceded to unrighteousness and the forces we read of in Ephesians 6? Will Christ find faith in the earth when he returns, will he find those that love GOD the Father first and above all? In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, what did Abraham say to the rich man when he asked for water? Who then is it that is having things their way in the world we live in? Are we not bombarded with wickedness everyday? Who is our advisory, in this world in which we live, to which we do not belong? Who will have the victory in the end, is it not our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Will not the only Begotten Son of GOD even come to Israel's salvation when they repent and say, "Blessed is He that comes in the Name of the LORD?" Do we not cry before the Lord, for the unrighteousness of those in this world? Are we not to endure all this until our Groom returns?

What is left to consider in our prayers before the LORD our GOD? Do we pray in accordance to His Will to be done here on the earth as it is in heaven, and for His Kingdom to come? Do we pray that wickedness should be no more? Do we pray according to the statutes of GOD, do we not cry for the protection of the innocent and those whose names are written in the Book of Life? Has the church been strapped in, put in bounds and prevented from doing what is right, oppressed on every side and has the good nature of the righteous been taken advantage of by ravaging wolves? Did we bring our heartaches and pain before the LORD, while in the world, we turned the other cheek? How long have we yearned for righteousness and to live in peace with all? Let's read again from the beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount.

Matthew 5:3-12 KJV

[3]  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. [4]  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. [5]  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [6]  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [7]  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [8]  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. [9]  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [10]  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. [11]  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [12] Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

At times you may grow tired while you endure all in this world. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. At times, the oppression that comes from the enemy may lay heavy upon you, even so that you may wonder if you would have more if you concede to the wickedness in this world. Remember then this parable of this persistent widow, as you pray to God in Heaven, our Father, in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who made us the Children of GOD by the Sacrifice He made for us. Be persistent for righteousness, endure and be strong in the long suffering. Forget not mercy and grace and the gift of Love that has been planted in you. Have compassion for those who have fallen victim to the enemy of mankind, praying with Christ our Lord, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." For the real enemy of GOD and all His children is the advisory and all of heaven that went after him in his rebellion against the Throne of GOD Almighty. For we struggle not against flesh and blood... All things work for good for them that trust in GOD and are the called according to His purpose (Ephesians 6:12 and Romans 8:28)

Do not lose sight of where you are heading to, that new city of Jerusalem, that will descend out of the New Heaven unto a New Earth. (Revelation 21 and 22)

Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV

[25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

The focus of this scripture here is verse 27. Christ will present to Himself a pure bride. You are not alone. The GOD that kept Daniel safe in the Lion's Den is with you. He gave you authority over wicked and evil spirits, even over the beasts of the field. But, that authority only comes in Christ Jesus His only Begotten Son, that made the way open for us to be redeemed to God our Father, as the Children of the Most High Creator GOD. Where we may fail He will not.
