The Unfaithful Servant

The Audio Version of today’s note:

Luke 16:1-14 KJV

[1] And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. [2] And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. [3] Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. [4] I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. [5] So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? [6] And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. [7] Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. [8] And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. [9] And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. [10] He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. [11] If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? [12] And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? [13] No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [14] And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

Note for 20241023

Mammon, or GOD? You know, there are many that quote from this parable without understanding. What is an everlasting habitation? Is that not where eternity will be spent? Look at the conditions under which man is to make friends with the unrighteous Mammon. Can you see that it is when you forsake GOD, when you live by greed? We are called to live by faith. Might there be a spiritual attachment to greed? So, this is then the task I leave to you today, find out who Mammon is. Research it, because I guarantee you; when you see it for yourself, if you are standing for righteousness and the will of GOD, you will not want any part in it.

The title those who codified the Bible gave this scripture is, "The Unjust Steward." I was given to call it "The Unfaithful Servant." If you are standing divided between a love for GOD and a love for this world of unrighteousness, you will utilize that which serves your own survival best. Do you remember how we read in the Book of Revelation about being either hot or cold? What did Christ say He will do to the lukewarm? Be then friends to whom you belong to. You see, this parable is actually quite clear.

Money, or wealth, can be used for things of righteousness; but so soon the spirit of it lures a person to hoard more-and-more unto himself. It is so easy to lose sight of Who provides for man, and rely on wealth to save you out of trouble. Where is faith in Christ then?

I remind you again, by way of a question; what is an everlasting habitation? Man is called to make friends with those he will spend an eternity with. Will you walk by the flesh or by the Spirit? Can you remember what Christ said to the rich man who enquired what he had to do to enter the Kingdom of GOD? What shall you do if your right arm makes you stumble, or you cannot trust your eyes? Christ said it is better to enter into the Kingdom of GOD as a cripple, than the whole body to be lost. Choose righteousness. Have a heart and mind for the righteousness of Christ. Do the right thing, according to the Word of GOD, not the thing of unrighteousness that will get you out of trouble in the moment. Choose to trust in GOD, that He will deliver you, and until He does, you might just have work to do for His Kingdom, where you are. How many have Paul led to Christ while he was in chains, a prisoner? We live for GOD'S convenience, not our own.

I don't know about you, but for me, this brings a great deal of clarification at this moment. This parable speaks on what or who we turn to for our deliverance. I will wait on Jesus Christ and the Will of GOD, patiently. GOD'S will be done.

Verse of The Day

(YouVersion - Expanded from Verse 12)

Romans 12:9-14 KJV

[9]  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. [10] Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; [11] not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; [12] rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; [13] distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. [14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
