Revelation 21 KJV

[1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. [2] And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. [3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. [4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. [5] And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. [6] And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. [7] He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. [8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. [9] And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. [10] And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, [11] having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; [12] and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: [13] on the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. [14] And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. [15] And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. [16] And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. [17] And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. [18] And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. [19] And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; [20] the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. [21] And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. [22] And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. [23] And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. [24] And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. [25] And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. [26] And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. [27] And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Note for 20240919

How many things did you read in this one chapter that surprised you?

[24] "And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it."

I remember the first time I read this, and it felt like my mind was breaking under the consideration of it. Not just this verse, but also about who may not enter into it.

Now, if there is one thing that we can be sure of is that there is definitely a separation of mankind, written of, in the Book of Revelation. It is clear that there are mass die-off events. But it speaks of the second resurrection and the second death; and these seem foreign from our understanding. For even in the lake of fire, there appears to be an eternal death, we read how the beast and the false prophet were still there after the thousand years of peace. Verse 24, and 26 for that matter; challenges our concept of understanding. Who then are these kings of the earth that will bring their glory and honor into it? I don't know. You know what, and I do not have to know, GOD'S will be done. The chapter does open up stating that John saw a New Heaven and a new earth, for the former things have passed away. Even though there is no more sea. Is this new earth, the one that the meek will inherit? I say again, I do not know for certain, but it does make sense considering verse 27, and who may enter it and who not.

The thing is, if it is New as it is stated here, how can we possibly consider that we that are of an old world can possibly conceive what it may be, unless we are shown like John was shown? If I say, I am going to give you a "blibblob" how would you know what it is? It is just a word I made up, so it is new and undefined as of yet. I can't even give it, because I don't have it to give. Earlier in the Book of Revelation I wrote of the parallax error man makes when considering heavenly things. For a lack of words, it is almost as if we can only see the undercarriage of it. We lack perspective. And with this it is a matter of faith and trust in God Almighty the Creator too. The carnal mind will say it is foolish, yet a special blessing was spoken out by Christ for those who believe without having seen.

Friends, I could have written on the city, the gates and foundations of it. I could have written to you about the sheer size of the city, even of the challenge of the curvature of the surface of the earth. What still of the high mountain that John was taken up onto?

What is new? What of the old is part of the new? Were we not told to become a new man and to leave the old man behind? When Christ spoke of being reborn, Nicodemus thought he might have to somehow come from his mother again, but after our reading we have come to learn that it is the birth of the Spiritual man, born of the Spirit of GOD. And as we become this new man, at our Redemption by the Lord Jesus Christ unto GOD, we will have a part in all this that is New, when all that is old has passed away. If this, what we know now is the womb, at our full deliverance, we will be birthed into Life. What does a baby in the womb know of the world outside?

What we can tell from what we have here, is that both Israel and the Church will be there, as resembled in the city, by the design of it. Not only is this like a promised land but an entire new creation from our perspective at least.

My draw to this city is not that it is of gold, nor that it is on a high mountain. Not even that both heaven and the earth is brand new. No! My draw is that our Father GOD and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be there, and we will be with GOD, forever.

For a deeper look into these things, I will make links available again on the Blog. The conclusion for me at the end of this reading is that I know what I choose and where I want to be. The Word teaches us how we may be there, and that is worthy to know. And as I yearn for that myself, I yearn to have all those I love to be there too. But as Christ gave us a choice, even as GOD our Creator and our Father in Heaven do; I will do the same. Nobody can be forced into this choice, each must make it on their own. I choose Christ.

Proverbs 19:17 KJV

Psalm 141 KJV

[1]  LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; Give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. [2] Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; And the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. [3] Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; Keep the door of my lips. [4] Incline not my heart to any evil thing, To practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: And let me not eat of their dainties. [5] Let the righteous smite me; It shall be a kindness: And let him reprove me; It shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: For yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities. [6] When their judges are overthrown in stony places, They shall hear my words; for they are sweet. [7] Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, As when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. [8] But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: In thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute. [9] Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. [10] Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

Note on Psalm 141

The Lord called me to read this chapter last night at 1:41am. He has done this before, so I knew. This morning's reading was Revelation 21, and how I wish to escape to the Lord my GOD, to all that which is promised there.

In my age, I am growing weary of the iniquities of man. It is like sitting in a thorny bush. The onslaught of wickedness is constant, everywhere I look. But here, in my inner room, here in the Word of GOD; I am given a moment's rest, and an eternal Hope unto Salvation and inclusion to that City of GOD, I just read of again. To be there where I will not constantly be faced by the wickedness that man has fallen into. Even to shed the temptations in my own flesh. When that which I resist each day, no longer is at all.

So with David, today I cry unto the Lord my GOD, make haste unto me.

Shalom
