Note for 2024/06/18 - ‭Romans 14:1-23 KJV‬ - Whatsoever is not of faith is sin

‭Romans 14:1-23 KJV‬

[1] Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. [2] For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. [3] Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. [4] Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. [5] One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. [6] He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks. [7] For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. [8] For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. [9] For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. [10] But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. [11] For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, And every tongue shall confess to God. [12] So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.  [13] Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. [14] I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. [15] But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. [16] Let not then your good be evil spoken of: [17] for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. [18] For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. [19] Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. [20] For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. [21] It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. [22] Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. [23] And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Note for 2024/06/18

And, now you know, for you have read it for yourself. We distance ourselves from things for others. We do not wish to offend, neither should we live to condemn. How does this fit in the narrative today of what a man may eat, how do people get divided because of what is on their plates? And of days that are honored to The Same GOD Almighty, is not every day a gift from GOD? Now you know, you have read, but consider this please; who has not read this? We should not be stumbling blocks, but rather, we should help others, led by the Holy Spirit as we are helped too.

What we do is to Honor God and is that not deeply personal, what we suffer for or what we feast for? There are things that I do for GOD, even things in remembrance that I expect no other to uphold. It would not make sense to them. I remember a date of a vow I made, even though I walk in that vow daily, it is deeply personal. I remember the date I came to Christ, in the hour when I was fearful. I was so scared I ran to the church, literally running, after a confrontation by a witch. That too, is deeply personal, and for my weaknesses, I run to GOD too. I know my Savior, for I was saved, I am rescued and delivered daily. The Lord is my Provider. But, how would another make sense of what I have learned? So the days I honor are for The LORD in remembrance of the Salvation I have received. Each day is a gift, and he that tasted near death remembers. You do not want to face death without belonging to The Lord Jesus Christ, believe me. These things are real for me, for it is my life. How can I expect another to understand who was not there? Who has been hungry with me, suffered through pain with me? Who was with me when I was alone, cut off, even when I was laying half dead in the road? The Lord was there, when no man was there to save me. This is a brief testimony, but it is my oil and though I am willing to share, it can never be as impactful for another as it was for me, for I was alone there with the Lord as my Savior.

What you do, do it for the Lord, never forgetting, that what we have done for the least of these here, we have done for Him. Can we ever repay GOD? No! So what we do is not to repay, but to honor Him who saved us. Now I am rich, for what I suffered. So fear has turned to joy and turned a once complaining heart to gratitude. It is my testimony, it is very real to me.

What is your testimony? What is special to you before the Lord? See His hand in your life and honor Him for that. You know, I think my life also changed the day I realized that nobody is obligated to be kind to me. Every smile, or wave of the hand in greeting is a gift. Walk on a busy street and see how many notices you, what then still of someone who not only sees you, but greets you with kindness? Is that the norm today? No, today man lives in the fear of someone storming into a school and shooting at children. How many wicked things have we witnessed? This world is in trouble friends, I hope you see it. For only then can we learn to find compassion for those who are still trapped in lies.

The terrifying part today comes from the last few words of this chapter, "whatever is not of faith is sin." How many do you think have never read this before, and even of those who have read, how many understood? Don't you know that the Lord Jesus left it to us to continue with His work?  I am led to write this too... How many can look at a starving person and do nothing? What about a person in pain? What about a person who is heartbroken and alone? What about someone who is in need of help, and does not know how to find it? All of these, I have known personally. Friends, the Lord had to help me Himself, let that sink in. I am troubled by the state of this world, for I have seen it. And now, I have met people with a heart to give and help. Many were not like that before, and now, because the Lord is in their lives, they have changed. So was I too, and so am I changed too. What I receive from GOD, I share. Who will eat this Spiritual Bread?

Shalom

[27] Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
