Note for 2024/06/08 - Romans 4:1-25 KJV - Children of Faith
Romans 4:1-25 KJV
[1] What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? [2] For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. [3] For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [4] Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. [5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. [6] Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, [7] saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered. [8] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. [9] Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. [10] How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. [11] And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: [12] and the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. [13] For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. [14] For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: [15] because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. [16] Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, [17] (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. [18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. [19] And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: [20] he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. [22] And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. [23] Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; [24] but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; [25] who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Friends, there is much that we do not know yet. Things that are outside our knowledge, which is not part of our considerations. And as I like to ask some, at times, how often did Abraham read the Law, which, of course, is a tricky question; because the law was only given later to Moses.
Faith... It does not require knowledge. It does not require understanding. But, it does stand on Trust and Hope. If there is knowledge and understanding, faith is not removed, but strengthened. And as Paul so beautifully explains here, it is faith that is accounted to us as righteousness, even unto the righteousness of Christ if our faith is in Him. Then, we have become children of faith, and in that faith we have become children of Abraham. Yet, are there matters of which we can not be sure, if it is unrecorded and without reference in the Word of GOD. How then can we be sure, how can we hope and trust if not by Faith in Him who raised our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I will admit it, some matters are hard to make sense of, it can come to challenge our faith. But it is not our faith in just anything that brings us to salvation, or to righteousness as Paul explains here; it is Faith in Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. What did GOD declare to us in John 3:16? Do you know how certain you can be when the LORD uses the term "shall?"
Faith is based upon that of which you are convinced of. Faith is not having something as a backup plan. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior, what possible backup plan can you have for that? A bunker in the ground?
Friends, our faith is manifested in our actions and in our words. Do we believe what GOD promised us in the Word of GOD, is our faith based on Him? Or, did the world get to us, to question God's Word? Who then do you show to believe in your daily actions, because that tells the story of your faith. Abraham believed that GOD would give him a son, even when he was very old. And when he received that son in Isaac, he did not hesitate to bind him on an altar when the Lord tested his faith. How do we show our faith? As James wrote, faith without works is dead. What is it that GOD sees in us, because it is only GOD that can declare us righteous or not.
If we believe in Jesus Christ, we must also believe all He said. Do you understand that? We cannot say we believe in Christ and then exclude some of what he said for our benefit in debate. In order for us to do as we please, what must be discounted from the Word of GOD? What does our faith, our belief in Jesus Christ become then, if we cannot trust His Word?
The enemy comes against our faith and belief. So we gird ourselves with truth and take up the Word of GOD as a sword. Righteousness then our breastplate, that comes by faith, which we carry as a shield. Then our salvation is secure, even as a helmet on our head, for we know that our Salvation is of Jesus Christ. And the Good News of our Salvation is the message that moves us from one to the next, as we spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it becomes the shoes of God's Armor upon our feet. (Ephesians 6)
Friends, equip yourself by reading the Word of GOD. Receive it in the Spirit. Request of GOD in the Name of Jesus Christ, to reveal the Truth to you. For the unbeliever is ill-equipped for the day we are walking towards. They have no hope, they have no faith, they have no protection; unless we can convince them to believe. We are the church, we are the body of Christ Jesus our Lord. And if then the body, who will reach out to those that are still lost? As Christ died for me, He died for all of mankind, for it is the Father's Will that none of us will be lost. For GOD so loved the world, that He sent His only Begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. If God then dwells in us, who then will move to save others? How can we sit down and just warm benches? Who will feed the Sheep of Christ? (Matthew 25)
As I write here, the Spirit in you confirms, not? Are we then not of the same Spirit in Jesus Christ? The Word of GOD is the Truth. The whole armor of GOD is elements of Jesus Christ. He sent us out to continue with what He started here on earth.
Church, brothers and sisters of the Faith, the time has come. You know that the Spirit of GOD prepared you for a time such as this. Are you ready? Are you armored up? Are you battle ready for a Spiritual war? For while the enemy comes with hate and murder, we go out in love and Salvation, even as the Love of GOD will establish His Will in the earth as it is in Heaven. His Kingdom come.
Shalom
Verse of the Day
(YouVersion verse 14, expanded)
Exodus 33:14-16 KJV
[14] And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. [15] And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. [16] For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
