We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

Introduction

This morning at 3:00 AM, the Lord called me to come sit before Him and write this very note you are now reading. The title the Lord gave me is, “I Am, That I Am”. At first, I was perplexed. In my human capacity, I couldn’t think of what I could possibly write. I made myself a cup of coffee, burning the midnight oil while others slept. Then the Lord instructed me to do my daily reading.

So I opened to Ezekiel, reading the rebukes and vengeance God declared over cities. But it was the daily note that rang out like a bell:

2. Scripture Text

Psalm 27:14

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”

3. Devotional Reflection

“Wait on the LORD.” Isn’t that one of the hardest things for us to do lately? We live our lives from one night’s rest to the next, constantly busy in our minds—solving a hundred problems when we’re supposed to be resting. But the instruction is simple: “wait.”

And in your heart you may ask, But I have people relying on me. I have things that must get done. How can I wait? You see, we are all guilty of this. Too often we act before consulting God. We speak before asking the Holy Spirit if it should even be said. Yet the scripture reminds us again: Wait on the LORD. Oh we of little faith.

When we wait on the Lord, then we have this promise:

Isaiah 52:12

“For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.”

We live in haste—haven’t you noticed? Everything has to happen faster. Groceries and takeout are delivered in minutes. Drones drop packages at our doors. Something that used to take a day now takes twenty minutes.

But imagine for just one day, you stopped living in haste. Imagine that you lived in peace. With God, that is the life you can live. When you wait on the LORD, the pressure to hurry fades away. You realize you can breathe. You can take time to consult God on every matter. He can stretch the two hours you spend with Him into a lifetime—or compress a lifetime into a few seconds. God is outside of time. The answer is already in His hand. We just need to wait and ask, Where to next, Father?

So as I write this now at 3:34 AM, my heart is at peace—not because I know the outcome of anything, but because I know my Heavenly Father. And no matter what, we are in His hand, and nothing can remove us.

John 10:28–29

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

What a promise! Knowing we are in the Father’s hand.

And so we return to the title: I Am, That I Am. What a powerful truth—that the One who created the heavens and the earth spends time with each of us personally. He listens to the struggles of our day, and He holds us when our weeping prayers reach His throne. Sometimes the only words we can utter are, “Father, help.”

Matthew 11:28–29

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

How many of you does this scripture speak to? The weight of the world feels like iron shackles pulling you down. But when the world pushes you to your knees and mocks your fall, remember: on your knees, you are before the King. On your knees, you can look up to your Heavenly Father.

This is often where believers see great change. Not always in riches or possessions, but in answered prayers. Perhaps your spouse begins to pray again. Perhaps your child, whom everyone gave up on, suddenly says, “I want to go to church.” On your knees you can say, “Father, Your will, not mine.” On your knees you can declare, “I am a child of God.”

In that moment, Matthew 11 becomes alive—Christ removes the heavy yoke of this world and gives you His. Do not fear being overburdened. And no, you don’t have to rise at 3 AM. Many strong believers are fast asleep right now. But maybe you rise just a little earlier to start your day at the feet of your Heavenly Father.

When you start with God, then no matter how the enemy comes against you, you can confidently declare: “My Heavenly Father goes before me. I will follow Him and no other. For He is That I Am.”

Oh my friend, when you believe this in your heart—that God goes before you—you unlock a treasure greater than gold. You are walking by faith, not by sight.

So as I close, I encourage you: look at your daily life. Take the time each morning before the world intrudes to sit with God. Coffee, water, whatever you need—just wait on Him. Read your Bible, pray, listen. Watch what happens when you hand your day to God.

This is not a get-rich message—quite the opposite. Following Christ may cost you much. You may lose friends. Family may even turn away. But what you gain is far greater.

Isaiah 52:12

“For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.”

That I Am is not far off. He dwells within you, for you are the living temple of God. You are part of a family that stretches all the way back to Adam. Your name is Child of the Living God. And nothing can take that from you.
