1. Opening
Welcome to the 4th Day of the Global Week of 24/7 Prayer.
This morning, as I was sitting in my quiet moment, I responded to some friends in Christ quickly, eager to start reading in expectation, when I got the title for today's note, "An Ordinary Man." I wanted to read the Verse of the Day, but the Lord guided me to Isaiah 56 (just 56, not reading past that for today.) "Copy." Then could I come to the Verse of the Day.
There are a few ways in which you can partake in the Daily Devotional:
We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.
2. Scripture Text
Ezekiel 37:5 KJV
[5] Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.37.5.KJV
The Scripture for today’s Devotional Note is based on the YouVersion Bible App Verse of the Day that ties into the Global Week of 24-7 Prayer for the 4rd of September 2025.
3. Devotional Reflection
The strange thing is that Isaiah 56 is not about ordinary men, and neither is this verse of the day. Both scripture sections speak about verse specific people. Ezekiel 37, about the prophecy how GOD will reunite the entire House of Jacob. And of course, not specifically part of today's verse, but one of the most beautiful moments, when Ezekiel is instructed to Prophecy over the bones, and when he does, they start coming together.
Permit me to show you something, here is the verse of what was instructed to Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 37:4 KJV
[4] Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.37.4.KJV
Who is “the Word of the LORD,” friends? And do not be mistaken, when “Lord” is written “LORD,” it is a reference to our Father in Heaven, GOD Most High, the Creator. Let me remind you again, since you undoubtedly probably remembered John 1 in this moment, of another verse that brings some beautiful revelation and clarification:
Revelation 19:10 KJV
[10] And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.19.10.KJV
Friends, this order to prophesy over the dead bones is to bring the Word of GOD to the Nation of GOD, which is all of Israel (All twelve tribes.) Even the whole House of Jacob, yes! Even to the lost tribes that were scattered in 2 Kings 17. Jip! It is about the testimony of Jesus Christ, the Word of GOD, that is what brings life to these dead bones.
Do you want to read John 17 again, how Jesus prayed to Our Father in Heaven for Unity? (We look at this in the previous Note) How is it that unplanned by me, GOD is weaving the truth through, by an ordinary man like me? I didn't even know, right up until this moment. Here is another verse that used to challenge me, but I am starting to see the truth, though it may be considered a controversial verse, Jesus said...
Matthew 15:24 KJV
[24] But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.15.24.KJV
Which brings us to the "paste" moment of Isaiah 56, when we ask about "an ordinary man?" (In other words; strangers, not of Israel, which I am sure the Jews would at this point still, rather not have Isaiah having prophesied it.)
Isaiah 56:1-12 KJV
[1] Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. [2] Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. [3] Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. [4] For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; [5] even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. [6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; [7] even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. [8] The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. [9] All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. [10] His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. [11] Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. [12] Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.56.1-12.KJV
Shall we look at verse 5 and 7-8 again? What is this? How could Isaiah then weave together this here, even the message from the LORD on this very day, without Him writing The Word of GOD? Not His own words, but Word of GOD, being fulfilled as the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ still goes out today? Remarkable, isn't it? And, friends, I need you to know that this morning I am learning with you. I have never seen them together like this before. It is as if the Word of GOD is opening to us today, which in itself is a fulfillment of prophecy.
Yes, an ordinary man or woman, can receive an honour greater even of that of sons and daughters according to the Word of GOD by Isaiah. Wow! Talk about rewards! Our offerings will be accepted on GOD'S Altar! Wow!
Now, to be fair, I will admit that it does require some understanding that the altar will be restored during the reign of Christ on Earth, and that is another matter that will require a bit of a deep dive to explain, but for now, let us just have our peace in this beautiful promise. I can even perceive that this good news will be of little value without the Holy Spirit's in-dwelling, in a lack of knowledge of the Love of GOD. But, for those who have joined themselves to the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus Christ and know the joy and peace of Salvation in Christ, and have joined themselves to the supper table of GOD, this is next level in revelation.

Referenced Scriptures
Breath and Prophecy Over the Bones
Ezekiel 37:4 - “Prophesy upon these bones… hear the word of the LORD.”
Ezekiel 37:5 - “Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.” (Remember that the “breath” and “wind or breeze” often refers to the Spirit of GOD in prophetic terms)
Spirit of Prophecy & Testimony of Jesus
Revelation 19:10 - “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Christ’s Intercession and Desire for Unity
John 17:1–26 - Jesus’ prayer to the Father for His disciples and all believers.
Christ’s Mission to Israel
Matthew 15:24 - “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
Inclusion of Strangers and Eunuchs
Isaiah 56:1–12 - God’s promise to those who join themselves to the LORD, even strangers and eunuchs.
Scattering of the Tribes
2 Kings 17 - Historical scattering of the northern tribes of Israel.
Now, there is quite a bit that we have not looked at in the scriptures we read today. We have placed no focus on “keeping the sabbath from polluting it,” nor have we looked at “keeping his hand from doing any evil,” of which are both, separately significant Bible studies in itself.
So often, friends, we must leave something to look at “tomorrow” or “next time,” before we enter into some form of chaotic thirst for knowledge that was not scheduled by the LORD for the day. Just as I was withheld from reading on to Isaiah 57 this morning, I have to trust that the LORD will leave “Breath” in me to continue with my journey when the time for that “Chapter” to be looked at (which might be tomorrow morning, GOD sparing.) The LORD knows what “portions” we can eat at His Table, and we must trust the LORD in that and not become gluttons for knowledge. (As a matter of interest, that was a thing the Greeks suffered from; learning about new things, so they would often add to their pantheon of gods.)
Acts 17:22-23 KJV
[22] Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. [23] For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
https://bible.com/bible/1/act.17.22-23.KJV
Now, lastly, for those that can “stomach” a bit more, I am going to add some scriptures to make this a bit fuller for you, staying on the topic of unity (even of seemingly outcasts like strangers and eunuchs)
Ezekiel 37:7-14 KJV
[7] So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. [8] And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. [9] Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. [10] So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. [11] Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. [12] Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. [13] And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, [14] and shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.37.7-14.KJV
“Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.” Welcome to the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that would bring the tribes back together. Now, friends, this has happened in part since Christ came in the flesh, but there is a greater “revival” coming before the war of Gog of Magog in Ezekiel 38 (maybe even during it, but that is for GOD to know.) Let’s read on just a little further…
Ezekiel 37:15-28 KJV
[15] The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, [16] Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: [17] and join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. [18] And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? [19] Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. [20] And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. [21] And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: [22] and I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: [23] neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. [24] And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. [25] And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. [26] Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. [27] My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. [28] And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

Oh, man! There is so much more here than we can look at in just one session. But, to understand, you must have the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You must have a Heart for GOD’S Will, then you can see it. Let me not even go into the territory distribution section of prophecy, and the areas that are set aside for the Prince.
Such a remarkable revelation we have been blessed with her today, friends, with an indication that more is coming. And though I won’t be going into it today, the LORD did say to me, “This is Part 1”
6. Closing Paragraph
Yesterday, I cried as I prayed for unity, in response to John 17, and today, GOD brings me to this, to comfort my mourning heart. GOD loves us, friends, He is a loving Father, deeply involved in the matters that bring His Children to tears in a thirst for righteousness.
Trust in Him, He has ALL in HAND.
Selah, Shalom.
