Note for 20250822 - Matt 6v33 - Kingdom Focus

Daily Devotional

Note for 20250822 - Matt 6:33 - Kingdom Focus

1. Opening

The Lord has been working with me regarding a new way that the devotionals must be done on a daily basis, so you might see shorter devotionals going forward. There might be one, two, or three larger recordings depending on the will of God, but these will probably be additional.

This morning's devotion comes from the verse of the day.

There are a few ways in which you can receive the daily devotional and for your convenience, I make the links available here below:

We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

2. Scripture Text

Based on the YouVersion Bible Verse of the Day.

Matthew 6:33 KJV

[33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

3. Devotional Reflection

Have you ever wondered what verse follows this famous verse? It is actually also quite well known.

Matthew 6:34 KJV

[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

The Kingdom of GOD is within you, (Luke 17:21) it is near, even at hand. So, how do you seek it, if it is in you? And is it some future dated event, when Christ says not to take thought of tomorrow?

A guidance to this Kingdom focus comes from earlier in this chapter of Matthew, "Thy will be done" and also in this, "Thy Kingdom come." Where is GOD'S Kingdom established when we are subject to Him? That takes place in our every moment, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Yes, indeed, that means GOD gets a say in our choices, in fact, Jesus reigns by the Holy Spirit in us, while we live out our day. He died for us, so we may live for Him, right?

Not taking thought of tomorrow, is to focus on the Kingdom today. So, what is your instruction from your King on this day, and will you permit His Kingdom to be established in your life, where He leads and you follow, because that is obedience. That is to submit yourself under His reign, handing your crown to Him, that He be your King and you not so as you will and please. What you do, is His will for His pleasure. So we reign with Christ in us, even over our own flesh, guiding it where to go, by standing in agreement with the instruction of GOD our Father.

Maybe now, you will have a better sense on how to seek the Kingdom of GOD first, because it means you seek his will in your choices, today. We live for Him. You might find Matthew 5 very interesting if you read it now. Much of that is for today too.

Friends, I am not saying that there is no millennial reign of Christ on earth as we read in Revelation, because that is surely coming. I am also not saying that we won't go to be the Lord where He is, in other words, Heaven, for that too will come. I am saying that the journey starts afresh each day, and it is Kingdom focused, for we have part in GOD'S Kingdom here and now, the Kingdom of GOD is near. While we are still learners, we are in the school, but that school is in the Kingdom of GOD (the inner being, the soul) working in conjunction with the Holy Spirit, for GOD'S Kingdom to be established in us, that Jesus reigns in us. So we seek His Kingdom in us, and pray for it in the Lord's Prayer. The Kingdom of GOD is at hand, and the labour of our hands is for the will of GOD to be established on earth. So we do good, we act with charity and patience, and yes, even long-suffering with forgiveness in heart. You can say we are active-participants in those efforts, seeking first the Kingdom of heaven, over our own will. Better yet, when the will of GOD and our will begins to align without murmuring, but with agreement for good with the Holy Spirit of GOD, which is the indwelling of the Father and the Son, making Their abode in us.

I know, today took a bit of a new approach on the note of the day, but it is important to understand that the verse of the day is not just for today, but every day, in every thought, word and deed. Even to cover a multitude of sin with charity, in forgiveness, by the Blood of Him who saved us.

In other words, be merciful and kind, do unto others as you would have them do for you. For what you have done for the least of these, you have done for your King. (Wait for it to truly sink in) If the Kingdom of GOD is in us, is it not true for all of us?

I hope this gives you comfort today. May the Lord bless and keep you and may He lead you on your way, on the way of righteousness, even the way of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
