We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

2. Scripture Text

Today follows suit on yesterday. Verse 105 is the verse of the day, but I have extended a bit for context and the devotional.

Psalm 119:105-109 KJV

[105] Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path. [106] I have sworn, and I will perform it, That I will keep thy righteous judgments. [107] I am afflicted very much: Quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word. [108] Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, And teach me thy judgments. [109] My soul is continually in my hand: Yet do I not forget thy law.

3. Devotional Reflection

Do you remember a time when you could not drive? How intimidating it was when you first drove in traffic on a public road. Before you could legally drive upon the road, you had to pass your driver's test, not just of skill, but also of your knowledge of the laws that govern it.

The Word of GOD is what governs life, but really, it is the safe passage to eternal life. Here on earth, we are still learners, learning the rules for the Kingdom of GOD. As the headlamps on a vehicle, so light the Word of GOD our way, which bring us the beautiful verse of the Day from the pen of David, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet."

There is another matter I would like to show you. Look at this verse:

2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV

[17] Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.3.17.KJV

Who is the Lord? Who is the Holy Spirit? God poured out of His Spirit upon us, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and by Christ, the I dwelling of the Holy Spirit is forming Christ in us. Yes, just like someone learning to drive on public roads, in traffic, with on coming traffic and a set amount of lanes. You could say, a narrow path. Look at this:

Acts 2:17-18 KJV

[17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams: [18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

https://bible.com/bible/1/act.2.17-18.KJV

Even more so, look at what Jesus says about GOD (our Father):

John 4:24 KJV

[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.4.24.KJV

I do not want to keep you long today. So I will do my best to keep it short. For the modern day, you can see it almost like the headlamps of the vehicle. If you drive at night, without those, you'll drive in darkness. But it is more than that, because by day we still have the Sun.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet.

Selah, Shalom

Today's devotional is based on an extended version of this verse

5. Optional Reading / Study Expansion

a. Further reading: Isaiah

Remember How Paul explained about the wild olive branch being grafted into the cultivated Olive tree? (Romans 11:17-24) How the church is grafted into the promise of Israel (not replaced.) Also, that we become the children of Abraham by our faith, for faith was accounted to Abraham as righteousness.(Romans 4:11-16) Well, let us just have a quick look at what GOD says via Isaiah in chapter 48.

Isaiah 48:1-22 KJV

[1] Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. [2] For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name. [3] I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. [4] Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; [5] I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. [6] Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them. [7] They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. [8] Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. [9] For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. [10] Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. [11] For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. [12] Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. [13] Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. [14] All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. [15] I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. [16] Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. [17] Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. [18] O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: [19] thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. [20] Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob. [21] And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. [22] There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.48.1-22.KJV

This passage clearly speaks of when GOD will redeem Israel for the sake of His Own Name. Veiled, unable to see, but GOD is not done with Israel, He will plead with them and find them in “the furnace of affliction.

b. New identity in Christ (Part 6)

John 14:16-27 KJV

[16] And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; [17] even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. [18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. [19] Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. [20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. [21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [22] Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? [23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. [25]  These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. [26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. [27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.14.16-27.KJV

2 Corinthians 3:10-18 KJV

[10] For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. [11] For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. [12] Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: [13] and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: [14] but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. [15] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. [16] Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. [17] Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. [18] But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.3.10-18.KJV

Now we have looked at a few of these elements. Do you feel included in the promises of GOD? Is GOD in control of your journey, and is the Word of GOD with you?

6. Closing Paragraph

Today formed an unusual flow of sequence and format. We are looking at the Mysteries of Salvation by Jesus Christ and the intentions of GOD, our Father. From today’s scripture, can you conclude that what Christ spoke about the Kingdom of GOD, that it is near, even at hand speaks also to this “making an abode in us” and that is reliant on obedience to the Spirit of GOD? If true for you, you are on the right way, though still being delivered and going through this furnace of affliction and sanctification, you know the outcome, and that GOD will do it all for the sake of His Name.

So, trust in GOD and in GOD’s process.

Selah, Shalom.
