Daily Devotional

Note for 20250819 - 1 Peter 5v8 - Peace and Safety

1. Opening

Today I want to bring you (me that have no formal training in any school, but thought in the Word of GOD by the Spirit of GOD that indwells) somewhat of a master class in understanding the nature of this world, its current ruler, and the regime change that will most assuredly come.

This grew from the verse of the day, that gave a marker that the time has come to declare a deeper trough which may be difficult for many to hear, nonetheless remaining the truth. The hope is to ultimately help you see how much sits behind the verse of the day and also Ephesians 6:12, because both come with a back story that is too large to teach in one session, and yet we must at this time.

There are a few ways in which you can partake in the Daily Devotional:

We are to receive the Word of GOD by the Spirit, so I strongly urge you to pray before you receive the Devotional. Let Christ take the lead in your Spiritual Development.

2. Scripture Text

Here is the verse of the day from the YouVersion Bible App, which initiated this devotional.

1 Peter 5:8 KJV

[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

https://bible.com/bible/1/1pe.5.8.KJV

3. Devotional Reflection

Of late, there has been much talk about exposure, "whistle blowing" and famous people saying alarming things. Some of these rapports are quite disturbing and hard to hear.

Today, I have one single verse as the scripture reading that is also the verse of the day, today. And then I have another single verse, which I hope will awaken all who hears, to matters that used to be assigned to "conspiracy theories," but now are discussed in parliaments and senates.

Daniel 2:43 KJV

[43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

https://bible.com/bible/1/dan.2.43.KJV

Who are "they?"

If they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men, then they are not part of the seed of men, friends. Not?

Who are "they?" And how shall they mingle themselves with the seed of men, but not cleave one to another? The concept of cleaving is well understood from Genesis, as coming together as one flesh.

Now, who is this one that moves around like a lion, seeking whom he may devour again?

Ephesians 6:12 KJV

[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

https://bible.com/bible/1/eph.6.12.KJV

Who is our struggle against then, where does it manifest? Let us look at an extreme case.

Mark 5:2-9 KJV

[2] And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, [3] who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: [4] because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. [5] And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. [6] But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, [7] and cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. [8] For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. [9] And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mrk.5.2-9.KJV

But, there is something about our reading in Daniel that is slightly terrifying if it goes with some understanding of how these spirits work, friends. The toes that are of clay and Iron, comes from Nebuchadnezzar's dream of the statue that represents the kingdoms of man, which started with his Babylonian Kingdom.

So, who are "they?" Especially if we recall that Jesus said we will know them by their fruit.

Jude 1:4 KJV

[4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jud.1.4.KJV

Matthew 25:41 KJV

[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.25.41.KJV

Revelation 12:12 KJV

[12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.12.12.KJV

Revelation 2:13 KJV

[13] I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.2.13.KJV

Luke 10:18-20 KJV

[18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. [19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. [20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.10.18-20.KJV

Now who is this Lion walking around again seeking whom he might devour? You know, so many are terrified of reading the good news that is in the book of Revelation. Let me show you how a thousand years of peace start...

Revelation 20:1-3 KJV

[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. [2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, [3] and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.20.1-3.KJV

When Satan is bound, there is peace on earth, but who is Satan?

Ezekiel 28:14-19 KJV

[14] Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. [15] Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [16] By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. [18] Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. [19] All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.28.14-19.KJV

He is a Cherub, not just an angel. What do we know of cherubs, and no, not the baby angels that they have painted in pictures.

Ezekiel 10:14 KJV

[14] And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

https://bible.com/bible/1/ezk.10.14.KJV

Revelation 4:6-8 KJV

[6] And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. [7] And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. [8] And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

https://bible.com/bible/1/rev.4.6-8.KJV

These are examples of Cherubim. This is the order of who Satan was, before He was cast down to earth. Not a red horned man with a whimsical tail.

I need you to be fully aware that this is just an introduction. It is crucial that you gain a full understanding of who the enemy is, and that you understand the true depth of Ephesians 6:12

Ephesians 6:12 KJV

[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

https://bible.com/bible/1/eph.6.12.KJV

For The concept of demon possession and oppression has been some matter considered "conspiracy theories" too. And now we have reports of manifestations without a mingling with mankind, they showing up also on their own, as they are. I know many will say, "Matt lost his mind!" That's okay, I am speaking for the sake of those who have ears to hear, for eyes will see and not perceive the threat and worship them. This "they" from Daniel, and these strange men, from Jude.

If I speak more in just one session, it would not be wise. But, the truth resonates in those Holy Spirit filled one's. You know, but it is unpopular to speak about, isn't it? What has Hollywood prepared people for, friends? Will they call them super humans or gods when they return? Lying signs and wonders.

Know your enemy, who it really is. Ephesians 6, also gives the whole Armour of GOD.

4. Verse of the Day

From the YouVersion Bible App

The Scripture for the day is the verse of the day, please see above

5. Optional Reading / Study Expansion

a. Related to Devotional: Jeremiah 27

Jeremiah 27:1-22 KJV

[1] In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, [2] Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck, [3] and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah; [4] and command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; [5] I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. [6] And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. [7] And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. [8] And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. [9] Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: [10] for they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish. [11] But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. [12] I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live. [13] Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? [14] Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. [15] For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you. [16] Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. [17] Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste? [18] But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. [19] For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city, [20] which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; [21] yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem; [22] they shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.

b. Related to Devotional: Daniel 2:

Daniel 2:31-45 KJV

[31] Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. [32] This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, [33] his legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. [34] Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. [35] Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. [36] This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. [37] Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. [38] And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. [39] And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. [40] And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. [41] And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. [44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. [45] Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

c. New identity in Christ (Part 5)

(And related also to today's devotional as you will see by the closing)

Psalm 103:1-22 KJV

[1] Bless the LORD, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name. [2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: [3] Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; [5] Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. [6] The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment For all that are oppressed. [7] He made known his ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel. [8] The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. [9] He will not always chide: Neither will he keep his anger for ever. [10] He hath not dealt with us after our sins; Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. [11] For as the heaven is high above the earth, So great is his mercy toward them that fear him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us. [13] Like as a father pitieth his children, So the LORD pitieth them that fear him. [14] For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust. [15]  As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. [16] For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; And the place thereof shall know it no more. [17] But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, And his righteousness unto children's children; [18] To such as keep his covenant, And to those that remember his commandments to do them. [19] The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; And his kingdom ruleth over all. [20] Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, That do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. [21] Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; Ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. [22] Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: Bless the LORD, O my soul.

https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.103.1-22.KJV

1 John 1:1-8 KJV

[1] That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; [2] (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) [3] that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. [5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. [6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: [7] but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

6. Closing Paragraph

Now, here towards the end, you might feel a bit overwhelmed, and it is part of the reason why these devotionals are also left in writing for your benefit; that you can revisit it. So Book mark it, because you might have to share this with someone going forward (not what I said, but the scriptures)

It has to do with the Helmet of Salvation in the Armour of GOD, which is Salvation.

So, why is Ephesians 6:12 so important? Because it also ties up to another verse that has as yet not been quoted in today’s devotional today.

Matthew 6:15 KJV

[15] but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.6.15.KJV

Of a truth, it would be beneficial for me to continue on to absolutely bring a holistic view of this through with further scriptures, but we have already looked at an enormous sectional extract from the Holy Scriptures of GOD. So I will close off briefly and permit the Holy Spirit to minister further to you in this regard.

You see, the enemy moves against us, and when we go to war against others (or even just approve such battles) we side on the side of unforgiveness, which cuts us off from salvation and removes the helmet of salvation so we can get a “head shot” of lies from that old serpent, Satan. Then we walk after a lie in self-justification which voids the salvation of Jesus Christ for us, until we repent; when our Loving Father, by the Blood of Jesus Christ is quick to forgive.

Know thy enemy and his tactics. Forgive and be forgiven and stand in the Righteousness of Christ, ready for redemption and his coming.

Selah, Shalom.
