Note for 20250624 - The Gospel of Jesus Christ - Part 147 - Mat 28 - The Resurrection
The Gospel of Jesus Christ
According to Matthew
Part 147 - Mat 28 - The Resurrection (Conclusion)
Watch at:
Matthew 28:1-20 KJV
[1] In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. [2] And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. [3] His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: [4] and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. [5] And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. [6] He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. [7] And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. [8] And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. [9] And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. [10] Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me. [11] Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. [12] And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, [13] saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. [14] And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. [15] So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. [16] Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. [17] And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. [18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Note for 20250624
This brings us to the finale of the Gospel of Jesus Christ Series. The joyous News of the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Now, once again, Matthew leaves us wanting a little bit, because the believer asks, "What about the Ascension?" This is easily answered because it can be found in the other Gospels and of course at the beginning of the Book of Acts. Don't let this distract you from what is written in these 20 verses.
Now, if you are someone that pays attention, you might have noticed that it says "at the end of the Sabbath," which might bring some confusion, because the end of the Sabbath was at sundown, not sunrise or dawn as it is written here. But it does say as it began to dawn towards the first day, so it is indicating that it was well into the first day already (even by the Roman count.) The 3 days' matter is still left somewhat unresolved in us.
The first thing that I want to bring to your attention is this:
Romans 8:7 KJV
[7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.8.7.KJV
Man often gets into a situation where he questions. It did not work well for Israel, and it won't work out well for the gentile. You can see it like this: The Word of GOD is true, it is us that lack understanding. Are you okay with that? So, from what I could find is that the Jews would count any part of a day, as a day. So, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Or, as it would be counted then; the day of preparation (6th day,) the Sabbath (7th) and the First day of the week.
That still doesn't completely satisfy some, as it was said 3 days and 3 nights. John leaves us somewhat of a hint:
John 19:31 KJV
[31] The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.19.31.KJV
Even so, not enough to satisfy all. And we, hardly going to get into a maths lesson when we could miss the wonder of the resurrection itself. A high Sabbath is a special Sabbath that can fall on any day of the week and is revered as holy unto the Lord and is usually associated with the beginning or an end of a feast day, and in this case, it would have been the start of the feast of unleavened bread. Know this though, scholars have been debating this for a long time.
What we have is that Christ rose from the dead, overcoming both sin and death and was perfectly innocent and fulfilled all the scriptures in this regard. Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD, completed the "transaction" (on behalf of the Law) for the atonement of sin as the sacrificial Lamb of GOD.
People believe for many diverse reasons, and in the same way do many not believe. Christ was outspoken about that, and His disciples continue that, that His Sheep knows His voice and will follow Him. If we rely on human understanding, we are looking for trouble, because we still know in part. This is part of the parallax error I have so often written about, trying to understand heavenly matters from a carnal perspective. The Word of GOD is to be received spiritually, or more precisely, by the Spirit. Even so, the Lord our God is to be loved with all of our mind, all of our heart and all of our soul. That also means that all of us come into subjection to the most High GOD, GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is the Great I AM.
Here at the end of the series, it should not be necessary for me to convince you any more. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you believe in what He said and what He did and Who He is. Many of these matters of debates are to be placed before the Lord and accepted in your own-self. What a pastor, or even I shared with you, that is from another man. We must all work out our Salvation with the Lord.
What is the commission here in Matthew 28 though?
Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

You have to work out for yourself if you believe, and specifically today, also this:
Matthew 28:18 KJV
[18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.28.18.KJV
Now, we have taken a long walk through the New Testament and will be going to the Book of Titus next, but that will not be part of this series. For now, we will look at the Testimony of Paul, letter by letter and will not be forming a greater series, as we might have to delve into prophecy from time to time, as matters are unfolding in our time at this moment. We might even see that there will be breakaway days from our reading to that which is significant at the time. The Lord will lead the way, we follow.
I am blessed to have gone through this entire series with you. Now is a good time to consider all that we have learned in the process. May the LORD Bless and Keep you, day by day, but also in the faith unto the day of our redemption.
Selah, Shalom.
