The Gospel of Jesus Christ

According to Matthew

Part 126 - Mat 8 - Sent by Jesus

Watch at:

Matthew 8:1-34 KJV

[1] When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. [2] And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [3] And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [4] And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.   [5] And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, [6] and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. [7] And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. [8] The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. [9] For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. [10] When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. [11] And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. [12] But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [13] And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. [14] And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. [15] And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. [16] When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: [17] that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.  [18] Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. [19] And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. [20] And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. [21] And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. [22] But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.  [23] And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. [24] And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. [25] And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. [26] And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. [27] But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!  [28] And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. [29] And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? [30] And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. [31] So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. [32] And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. [33] And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. [34] And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

Note for 20250530

What a great way to finish this week with those things that Jesus had power and authority over. Now each of these mentioned here we have looked at extensively in the past few months in the testimonies of others. Matthew seems to just give a quick glance over all of these: disease, men, nature and devils. Why is it important for us to have this, almost as if in a list form?

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

[18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Luke 9:1-2 KJV

[1] Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. [2] And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.9.1-2.KJV

Luke 10:19 KJV

[19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.10.19.KJV

John 14:12-13 KJV

[12] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. [13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Acts 1:8 KJV

[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

https://bible.com/bible/1/act.1.8.KJV

What do these say to you? Are we meant to sit as “benchwarmers?” Has Christ forsaken us, or has He come unto us in a form this world cannot perceive? But, the good works they can see. Am I not a miracle walking as a testimony to those that see me, am I not shown as one that has been healed and delivered from that which troubled me in times past?

Matthew 8:4 KJV

[4] And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.8.4.KJV

This man was sent by Christ specifically to be a testimony unto the priests, do you see that. Commanded not to tell anyone, but to show himself to the priests as a testimony unto them. Healed and sent. And so too were the disciples sent to bear testimony of Jesus Christ by what they saw and experienced while Christ was in the form of mankind.

1 John 1:1-4 KJV

[1] That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; [2] (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) [3] that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Today, I have given many scriptures to show you why you have a testimony in you too. That you were touched by the power of GOD. For you were found in a different place and state, and you were made whole in Jesus Christ, just like me. Some have a greater testimony than I, and some carry a significant message that is often looked over, that Christ has never forsaken them since they were a child. But, each has a testimony of Christ, and is sent with the testimony we have in the Word of GOD and that of our own experiences. So I ask again, are we called to be "benchwarmers?"

Please do not be offended at the term, for to come into the congregation is instructed to. Come in, but then go out and testify in the world as lights in darkness. If you don't, you are like that child that is given a whole bag of sweets, who consumes all by himself never sharing. Keeping what he has for himself alone.

John 9:1-5 KJV

[1] And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. [2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? [3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. [4] I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. [5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Why did we go through what we did, is it not to have a testimony, that we may testify of Jesus Christ? What He has done for us. The Word confirms that in Christ is the power and authority, and we are given a testimony of our own. If the Son may glorify the Father through us, has He left us, or is He with us?

Friends, at this moment I can give you much more. Even though it is written that both the Father and the Son will come and make their abode in us. We await the return of Jesus Christ, we look up, but Christ has never left nor forsaken us. He is with us, even in us, by the Holy Spirit of GOD. Shall we then do as He has left for us to do?

Congregate for edification, yes! But, then break up and disburse among the people and shine the light of Christ in that darkness you find. Heal, teach and testify, and pray in Christ for those who need Him. Greater works, because Christ is with our Father in Heaven, do you understand. It is Christ in us that does the work. Do not sit at church and then sit idle, silent for the Kingdom of GOD at home too. Is revival in your heart? Then light the flame, speak and testify, praying as you go.

Friends, let me testify to you. When I was done reading here, I did not know what message would come. So, I know it is not me. Go and make disciples of all people.

Selah, Shalom

Proverbs

From my reading in the “As it Happened” Bible reading plan this morning.

Proverbs 1:3-7 KJV

[3] To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, and judgment, and equity; [4] To give subtilty to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion. [5] A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; And a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: [6] To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; The words of the wise, and their dark sayings. [7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

https://bible.com/bible/1/pro.1.3-7.KJV

Proverbs 3:11-13 KJV

[11] My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; Neither be weary of his correction: [12] For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. [13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding.

Proverbs 3:33 KJV

[33] The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: But he blesseth the habitation of the just.
