Romans 8:1-13 KJV

[1]  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: [4] that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. [9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [11] But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. [12] Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. [13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 

Note for 20241108

Today, I want to take a slower pace with you. We need that "calm-down" moment, in respect of life. You are in good hands, the Lord knows what He is doing with you. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ and live according to the Spirit. GOD has your back, when you trust in Him. Yesterday is gone, it is no more and you have this day, it has been granted to you by God to live in it. Be still and know that He is GOD. Be still and know that He is with you. Trust Him, cede your day to Him, that His will for you may be done. Don't precondition it, just trust it into the Hands of GOD. Place all before Him, and surrender to Him. Stand in His Truth.

Do you understand what you have just read here in Romans 8? GOD is not "out to get you," in fact, He wants to save you. He loves you. Yes, we don't deserve it, but it is GOD'S will to save man from the condition of sin which lies in the flesh. Your natural thoughts and feelings, it is of the flesh, it is carnal. By the Spirit of GOD that dwells in you, you can lay those things of the flesh down. There is a difference between what you want and what the flesh wants; and GOD knows this through His Son Jesus Christ that He sent to be in the flesh. Christ overcame all the sins of the flesh, and made atonement for your sin upon the cross. The fact that we are all sinners is well established, there is nothing good in the flesh. But you are not the flesh, you are in the flesh. When you drink water from a bottle, you cannot drink the bottle, because the bottle is not water, it is glass. That what is in the bottle is not the same thing as the bottle, the bottle just contains it. And once that which was in the bottle is done, the bottle itself has served its purpose. In this example, you are the water and the bottle is your flesh. The flesh, only that which contains the Spirit. 

What happens if the value of that which is in the vessel is not known? Yes, you might become careless with it, right? Now what if you know the value of the contents of the vessel, that it belongs to GOD? I speak plainly today, so that everyone can understand.

The enemy wants to break that vessel. He wants that which is valuable to spill out of the bottle before it reaches its destination. Out of all that has been created, what is it that GOD took care to create a salvation plan for? What is it, that the enemy of GOD is attempting to steal from GOD'S possession? That is right, it is the soul of mankind. Let me show you something... 

Genesis 2:7 KJV

[7] And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Friends, by that breath of GOD that He placed in us, we are forever linked with GOD. God created us in His image. Don't you know that GOD is Spirit?

So, why do a person place something valuable in a container, a vessel or a bottle? It is so it is not lost, that it is not spilled out to be soaked up in the earth. The enemy wants to break the vessel so you will go back into the dust of the earth. I know it is a simple explanation, but we do this today so that all can understand.

Now our flesh is not a simple bottle, no! This vessel is something that comes with thoughts and feelings. It can move by its own power, even heal when it is harmed. The purpose of the vessel is to keep the contents of it from spilling out and being lost forever. Yes, in this world this vessel gets knocked about, it gets scuffs and marks and many times come close to breaking point. But, if it endures to the end, then what was liquid once, has matured and become a gas. When the vessel comes to its end, the contents evaporate to GOD.

You are not helpless contents in this vessel of flesh. In fact, you have been given dominion over it, you, the living soul that comes from GOD. You can command the flesh, you can refuse its wants when it urges to go against the will of GOD. This you can test, by doing a fast. The flesh must obey your command, however, it does not change what the flesh is. It is still not you, just a container until its purpose is served out. But since you are "in charge" of this vessel, you also have been given stewardship of it. You are to keep it safe until the Lord Jesus Christ comes for the wine in it. That this vessel may produce fruit for GOD.

This world will try to place labels on the bottle, confusing that which is contained within. Don't you believe the lie too, don't let this world mislabel you. You are made by God, for GOD; matured in this world. And while dust may gather on this vessel, with all its scuffs (or wrinkles and scars in our case,) the prize is in the contents. Understand?

Now... In whose house do you want to stand, when the cork comes out? That, my friends, that is life. The flesh is not a simple bottle that can break. No! For us, GOD gave us something that can be driven like a car. We can determine where it goes here on earth. We can decide where we land up. We have a kind of "GPS navigation service" in the Word of GOD. We can even choose the end destination. In which house do you wish to stand when that cork comes out?
