Ready or Not

Luke 12:41-48 KJV

[41] Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? [42] And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? [43] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. [44] Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. [45] But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; [46] the lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. [47] And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. [48] But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

This section of the text, of course, comes at the conclusion of Christ telling His disciples of the time of the end. As much, the things we see happening right now.

Last night I was led to follow some coverage of hurricane Milton as it was approaching the Western Coast of Florida. Those people, facing an incoming hurricane, and while they wait for that, the edge of the storm system had them receive near a 100 tornado warnings. Just under 10 percent of those warnings materialized as actual tornados, but those caused a great deal of damage and loss. All along, monitoring Webcam footage, as the storm surge started to come in on the West Coast of Florida, these tornadoes were active on the East Coast predominantly.

You would think that people would get out of the way of such a storm, but there were some that didn't. I was shocked to see people even still walking on the beach on the west side of the peninsula. How apt is this I saw, to the text we just read in our Bible reading plan. They were warned, but they did not heed the warning. This now; the second hurricane coming through that area in about two weeks, do you think that these might be a warning of more to come? Will man learn? Don't they rebuild their dwelling places again, on this disaster highway?

The author of the devotional entitled today's text as the wise and foolish servant, and I was led to title it, "Ready or Not."

Is this itself not like we are warned in Matthew 24 and Luke 12? Does the Word of GOD not give us instruction on how to live? You see, the foolish person will ignore all warnings, walk right in the way of danger when he is warned to get out. Over a million people were evacuated from that area in Florida. Does the Word of GOD not give us an evacuation order from Jesus Christ from the Babylonian system, out of the way of this world? Or are we like these, who ignore the warning that came through the public broadcast system? What is Prophecy then? Did we not read in Revelation that the testimony of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of Prophecy? (Revelation 19:10)

The Word of GOD is like a public broadcast service from GOD to mankind. And by it, GOD guides us through every period of our lives. Last night, I didn't quite understand why my attention was brought to monitor this storm, and then to go and sleep before it made landfall. Now I do, it was in preparation for this morning's note. What would I have written here, if I neglected the calling to keep the watch?

Are you ready and prepared for the incoming storms? Have you heeded the call and come into safety yet? Is the Lord Jesus Christ your fortification, your shelter from the storm? Do you have a hedge of protection round about you, made up of heavenly protection? And of course, I speak of the incoming threat to this world, from Christ that will judge this world in their iniquity, just as we were told in the Word of GOD. We read it recently in Revelation, but so too did the prophets of GOD warn, before Christ was born in Bethlehem. Bethlehem, "Bet Lehem" is the House of Bread.
