Christ is the Foundation

Luke 6:46-49 KJV

[46]  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? [47] Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: [48] he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. [49] But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Matthew 7:21-28 KJV

[21]  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. [24]  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. [28] And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

Note for 20241003

This morning it feels like I am standing in an echo chamber. We have just concluded the sermon on the mount, and for the past two days, our scripture comes from the same scriptures, or shall I say from the same period?

It needs to be said though, what is the foundation that you build your life upon? Is there any form of consulting with the Lord Jesus Christ about your life? How does your day start? What motivates your conversation throughout the day? When you build upon a foundation, every brick is measured against that which is beneath it and the bricks around it. If the wall is built crooked, it will not survive the storms that come against it.

What is it that we measure our lives against, friends? For the believer, we measure our words and deeds against the Word of GOD, right? The teachings of Christ, direct us in all things. How shall we then deal with our neighbor? How do we deal with those that come against us? Why are we surprised, when the world comes against the righteousness of Christ? How does our goals align with wicked people, are we somehow building up the same kingdom? Do we live to be served, or to serve? Did Christ not wash His disciples feet? Did He not go to the poor and needy? What is true poverty, but a lack of the knowledge of GOD'S Word? What is your faith built upon? How are we blessed each day? How can we be a blessing to others? Do you remember Matthew 25:40 yet?

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

How, then, do we speak to one another? How do we treat one another? Do we even have patience with the poor and weak in Spirit? Do we have compassion for their circumstances? Do we even notice when they are caught in a net? Would we know when someone is trapped, if it were not for the Word of GOD?

John 1 KJV

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Friends, it is this Christ that gave us the parable of the foundation, and what we build upon. It is not I that say it alone, but I say that which The Word of GOD said first. If you measure yourself according to the measure of this world, you will become crooked as it is. Measure then yourself against that which is pure and Holy. If you chisel your stone, measure it against this foundation stone, so the wall may be built straight and strong. If we forgive as we have been forgiven, then hate will depart from us, and all its company like rage and resentment. And in its place shall come love, even the love of GOD.

The sermon on the mount, and all these parables of Christ, are like the master building plan, even the blueprint of a righteous life. Brought by the very Word of GOD, His only Begotten Son.

You say you believe in Christ Jesus our Lord; do you believe in what He said and done? Is that the foundation of your life, as you build up the House of GOD? Which bricks are you then laying, or are you building with broken blocks? Investigate every brick, if it is good enough for GOD.

1 Corinthians 3 KJV

[16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Have I got your attention yet? What directs your words and deeds each day then? The flesh is the house of the soul of man, but the soul is the house of GOD. Don't you know that the Kingdom of GOD is in you?

Luke 17 KJV

[21] Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Be then Holy, for GOD is Holy. Seek first the Kingdom of GOD, and His righteousness...

Shalom
