Matthew 6:1-8 KJV - Glory

[1] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. [2] Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [3] But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: [4] that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. [5] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [6] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. [7] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [8] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

But now, everything is a marketing opportunity, isn't it? Is that not what we see? And man has fallen in the same habit as what companies use, for they blast their life out for public spectacle saying, "like and follow me. Subscribe to me." What is it that we sell, our soul? Is it our words and opinions; that it is in the same way or form more and/or more valuable than those of others? Are we making that which is meant to be in secret public for our own benefit? Am I doing the same, by writing here? Shall I then keep quiet, keep what I have learned from the Word of GOD for myself alone, that I may receive some reward for myself? Is this an alm from me, or from He who sent me? I am not public for my sake, but for the Kingdom of GOD.

We are supposed to learn from the Word of GOD, right? We are to investigate our motives, right?!Look at the beam in our own eyes, before attempting to remove a splinter from our brother's eye. Whose Name is being honored here? Is it not the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? If you have the Holy Spirit of GOD, you don't need me. GOD gave a donkey the ability to speak, addressing Balaam. So see me then like a donkey, but hear the Word of GOD.

Remember, we are looking at the sermon on the mount for the Words of Christ, in response to what we read in the book of Revelation. Are we hot or cold, or have we become lukewarm mixing the Word of GOD with the words of this world? I am not interested to know what you think of me, my hope is that you will see Christ who saved me. I am not paraded in public, nor do I stand on some pedestal. Most of you do not even know my name. It is this very chapter that says that the left hand should jot know what the right hand is doing in giving alms. Gold and silver, I do not have; but what I have, I give to you in the Name of Jesus Christ. Stand up and walk according to the Way He has shown.

Even so, it might be wise to take a moment to investigate myself, so that my own motives remain pure. If not, I may just become just another beating drum that makes a noise in the ears of man, and heaven knows, there is far too much of that. When you read the Word of GOD, is it to judge others, or for you yourself to learn a better way?

In prayer, do you pray for others? Does it have to be in public? Is it a shopping list of things, and by whose will do we pray? Do we pray to GOD our Father, or in the sight of men?

Tomorrow, we will look at the Lord's prayer. May GOD take pity on us, may He show us mercy and grace.
