Revelation 7 KJV

[1] And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. [2] And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, [3] saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. [4] And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. [5] Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. [6] Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. [7] Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. [8] Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. [9] After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; [10] and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. [11] And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, [12] saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. [13] And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? [14] And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. [15] Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. [16] They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. [17] For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Note for 20240905

Today, I have a question, to which I do not have an answer at the moment. Why are the tribes of Dan and Ephraim excluded from the list of those that are sealed by the Angel? Yet, there are twelve tribes mentioned here. We see the tribe of Manasses mentioned, which was the Son of Joseph, but Joseph is mentioned in the list so an inclusion of 1 addition through Manasses, which covers the missing Dan, but Ephraim excluded, probably because Joseph the Father is mentioned. Nonetheless, Dan definitely is not in this list.

John just recorded what he witnessed. I will have to do more research into it. There is no explanation for it here in this text though.

At this point, 6 of the 7 seals have been opened of the Book. So it appears at very least that all this takes place during the 6th seal. With the sealing of the foreheads of the 144 000 of Israel, the descendents of Jacob are dealt with, in common speech. A remnant as we have seen the case ever since Israel exited from Egypt, but then, John sees a great many in white robes, that came from the Great Tribulation, standing before the Throne of GOD. It is written that they come from all nations, kindreds, peoples and tongues. It is what it is, as it is written, they washed their robes, and made them white with the Blood of the Lamb.

There is another group mentioned here, which I feel has been overlooked as far as I know. And that is the Angels, as we learned previously, how they worshiped with the four beasts and the 24 elders that they have been redeemed by the Lamb to GOD.

So, at this stage, just in consideration, it appears that the 144 000 of the House of Jacob, is marked on earth. The redeemed of Christ and these, those who came from the Great Tribulation, are in Heaven at the Throne of GOD. In the care of the Lamb.

Though, these things are above my understanding, this is how it seems to be at this moment in time. Still is the Lamb in Heaven, and one seal remains to be opened on the Book we read of in the previous Chapters.

By the Spirit am I guided to mention this too: there is something that is happening on the earth, and there is something happening in Heaven at the Throne of GOD. The sixth seal brought destruction on the earth, as we read at the end of Revelation 6. This here in chapter 7, is still 6th seal things. It appears, at least, there is some setting apart taking place.

Now, and this is a consideration, I make it very clear. This is of me. If I have to base where about a rapture event is implied by the text, it would be here. Because before, these in white robes were not mentioned at the Throne of GOD, instead, there was the mention of the sea of glass like crystal.

In Heaven, mentioned at this time, at the Throne, we have GOD Almighty on His Throne, with the Lamb of GOD. We have the 4 Living Creatures, the 24 elders seated on their thrones and the multitude of Angels round about. And then, these; dressed in white robes, worshiping GOD Almighty and the Lamb continuously.

At this stage it seems that it is only the 144 000 that are marked with the seal of GOD, that is of GOD, left on the earth. Now, it must be noted that only the 144 000 that are mentioned are of Israel. The number of them is known, but is it just chance that this is where the multitude in white robes shows up before the Throne of GOD? And of the Great Tribulation, do we honestly have the confidence in our understanding of what this is referencing?

Here then is a comfort, supported by the text so far. Those that belong to GOD at this time, they are either marked in earth to be protected, spared or taken up into heaven. The Angel with the seal of GOD, stops the 4 Angels that have been given authority to hurt the earth and the sea. This is where we are, according to our own reading through the text as it is written for us. God is our protection, all who worship Him and believe in the Lamb of GOD.

Of the remnant of Israel, even these, the 144 000. There is nothing here that suggests yet that they believe in the Lamb yet. They are marked and set apart by GOD. It is just logical (I know that is a dangerous word in this context) that those of Israel that washed their garments and made them white with the Blood of the Lamb will be included to this great many dressed in white, not?

So friends, from what I have read at least so far, that is where we are for now. And I still hold it out, that; if there is any indication from the text that stands in favor of a rapture teaching here in Revelation, this is where it should be. At the sixth seal, in preparation for what comes next, set apart by GOD, by the Angel who has the Seal of GOD, and of course, as Christians, we easily transition from here to know that to be the Holy Spirit of GOD.

So today, a bit more of a look into things than just that of personal reflection on the Word of GOD. I will try to add to the blog what I find on the questions on the listed tribes.
