Note for 2024/07/09 - Ephesians 5:1-33 KJV - Awaiting The Groom
Ephesians 5:1-33 KJV
[1] Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; [2] and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. [3] But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; [4] neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. [5] For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. [7] Be not ye therefore partakers with them. [8] For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: [9] (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) [10] proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. [11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. [12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. [13] But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. [14] Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. [15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, [16] redeeming the time, because the days are evil. [17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. [18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; [19] speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; [20] giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; [21] submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. [22] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. [25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. [28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. [29] For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: [30] for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. [31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. [32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. [33] Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Note for 2024/07/09
You know, most of you probably only remember Ephesians 5 for the teaching of the relationship between a husband and a wife, let me ask you then... Now that you have read it for yourself, is there not more here?
Ephesians 5:6 KJV
[6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Upon who comes the wrath of GOD? You see, it is easy to "fear monger" people, but; what is fear mongering for the disobedient, is just correction for the obedient, that will hear a warning and heed it, searching out the error in ourselves and obeying the Word of GOD, which then exclude us from the wrath of GOD because we submitted to such correction in obedience. Do you understand?
It is easy to use the latter section of this chapter to harbor expectation from one another, but what stands just before it? Should we not submit unto each other? Yesterday, Matthew 25:31-46 was part of our reading list. What about that done to the least of God's children was said by Christ Jesus Himself? Friends, should we not stand in service of one another, even be hospitable? Do we not minister one to another? Shall I ask this for a bit of clarity? If the Husband is then treated with reverence by his wife, is he not part of the church and required the same reverence to be shown to GOD? Does this chapter say, "Wives, love your own husband?" No, but; we should love our neighbor as ourselves, right?
Let me then make it more clear, first the log (beam) in your own eye, so you can see clearly to help your brother/sister. If someone then asks you to walk a mile with him, should you not walk two with him?
The Word of GOD is standing in a constant confirmation of the Word of GOD. The Word of GOD reinforces the Word of GOD. Failing only in our understanding of the Word of GOD. If we stand in obedience of the Word of GOD, then shall we be corrected of our misunderstanding. And more... Even excluded from the wrath of GOD, for even a light correction will be met by obedience then. If I say, "Do not hate your brother, make peace with one another and forgive one another in an act of covering his sin by the forgiveness available in Christ Jesus;" have I, then, offended you? Better still, if we each exercise self-restraint, self-control in submission to the Word of GOD, reproving our own actions and words, by the Word of GOD, which is Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Is Christ then not The Groom? Should we not all submit to Him? Should the wife not submit to her own husband? Who is Christ then to us? And, did He not demonstrate His love for us upon the cross?
Why then all this chaos among those who, at least, claim they are in Christ? Yes, I am talking to those walking under the banner of Christian. Or, are we only Christian when it is convenient; like an adulterous wife, seeking occasion to sin? A disobedient wife, that does as she pleases bringing shame upon her husband? Am I then offending any of you? In plain words, I am saying, "leave other men alone, you are betrothed!" For walking after sin is like that, to walk in the ways of another that is not Christ, so yes, even of mankind, follow Christ, not me, nor any other man when you are betrothed to Christ Jesus by God Himself, Who made you. Were we not given to Christ by the Father? Did He not die so we may live? Then, sin is, as so often depicted in the Word of GOD, adultery.
If we then walk after another, then we are saddling a horse we can only ride to death and destruction, for the price of adultery and sin, is death. How then do we hate each other? When we are part of the same body of Christ our Lord? Why all this infighting amongst believers, and then taking that for judgment in the world before godless judges? By laws that do not come from GOD, but from man, unknowingly even, standing in service to the Prince of Darkness? We have but One measure amongst ourselves, which is in Christ, if we believe. Then, we stand in obedience, for Christ said, if we love Him we will obey His commandments. Did Christ say that we must love GOD? Even that He did nothing or said nothing of himself, but by the commandment of His Father in Heaven? Did He say we must love one another? Then, when do we stand in disobedience and should we fear the wrath of GOD? If then corrected by the Word of GOD and submitting to the Same Word of GOD, do we then still stand in disobedience?
What did James write, faith without action is dead. What is it then to apply our faith by the Word of GOD, shall it not bring life? That is what GOD said in John 3:16.
So,if we must then reason for ourselves what the Word of GOD means and says, should it not pass the qualification of the Word of GOD on all counts? But, how can you do this if the Word of GOD is not in you? How can you know if you have not read for yourself? For if you did not read it for yourself, you do not stand by the Word of GOD, but by the word of him that told you what it says. So man follows a man, and when that man fails, their faith fails, for they were following a man not the Word of GOD. Understand. If Christ then is the Word of GOD, how will you KNOW Him? Yes! By the Word of GOD, my friends.
Submitting to the Word of GOD is submitting to your betrothed Groom, and that is standing in obedience and the Wrath of GOD is coming against the children of disobedience.
I sincerely hope, even by a great hope, that these words today will be a road sign pointing you in the direction of Who is Worthy to be followed. Submit then, to Christ our Lord, in all things. Obey the Word of GOD. Believe in the Word of GOD, for by the Word of GOD shall your Salvation come.
Be then of good cheer. Be joyful, even in the face of tribulations. For this world has no command of you, you are subject to the Lord of Salvation, even the children of GOD our Father in Heaven, Who is the Owner of all He has Created. Why fear when it is a Friend that is coming in wrath to judge the world, even the children of disobedience?
Do you still think this is just about husband's and wives? Even Paul alludes to it in today's scripture, see in verse 32. If we do not truly stand in the faith of Jesus Christ, we will use God's Word to convict one another, but in love we can edify one another in the True Church of Christ which congregates in the Spiritual House.
Shalom.
