‭Colossians 3:1-25 KJV‬

[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. [5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] for which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] in the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. [8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; [10] and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: [11] where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. [12] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; [13] forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. [14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. [15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. [16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. [17] And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. [18] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. [19] Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. [20] Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. [21] Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. [22] Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: [23] and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; [24] knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. [25] But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Having read all this, how do we live on as if there is no change in us? Which words would you rather have not written here, or do you need an excuse or justification not to comply with instruction? The Truth is, that if it is not in your heart, then you are not in alignment to the order in which GOD placed things. Who can shrug off any of this? A further truth is, that we know internally that the Word of GOD is correct, and it is not the Word that must change, but us.

I do not wish to single out anything specific here, because all of it is equally important. But, I do perceive which areas in the text today might be met with some skepticism. Husbands, wives, children and slaves, read and understand. I suggest, instead of rebelling against the Word, rather investigate it further. What does it mean, to love, to submit and to obey? For one, in not provoking your children, maybe it is time for a parent to hear and understand the things which our children are facing and be helpful for them to overcome these challenges.

Following Christ is not something you say you do, it is something you actually do. Here, Words are not enough, no! Action must meet the words we speak to validate them before GOD and mankind. "Set your affections on things above, not things on earth."

Friends, have you noticed the change in the world and on earth yet? Have you noticed how darkness is rising in the lives of mankind? There is a sore oppression falling on just about everyone. Just yesterday I read that John Deere is laying off staff in the USA, moving some operations to Mexico, I heard. And it is not just one company, is this not the nature of things happening right now? I cannot remember where at this moment, but I saw that some farmers are dumping their tangerines on the ground to rot, because the people are too poor to pay for it. What insanity is that? Would this world rather spoil food, before giving it away cheaper or for free? I know, it is probably to be able to recoup the losses from insurance, but surely both the Sun and the tummies of the hungry can spoil it much the same way. In fact, a tangerine would be nice to eat right now.

What insanities have you seen? Maybe, how Kenya sends a police force to Haiti to deal with gangs there, while their own country is in revolt. And let me not even get started on a curtain billionaire releasing mosquitoes, and a rise in Malaria cases in the USA. Is it okay, just because I do not live there? Is it strange then, that Mexico is interested to join the BRICS coalition of nations, that is set on bringing the US Dollar down, and John Deere moving operations there? Strange things, I have seen.

It might seem like a coincidence when you only see one or two reports, but, when you see many, there is a general movement happening all over the world. Did anyone notice when Turkey sent a warning to Israel, that should a war on Lebanon take place, that they would back Lebanon? And when the US withdrew from NATO under President Trump, who had the strongest military in the NATO nations? Was it not Turkey? Moves and counter moves, wars and rumors of war, while nature is revolting itself too. I ask again, have you noticed a change in things?

Then I remember the prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ, when He prayed, forgive them Father, for they know not what they do. I ask you, who then is the father of chaos and revolt? Who led the Rebellion in Heaven? Is it then by chance that every second movie or series coming out now, seeks to change our view on demonic things? I ask again, have you noticed a change upon this earth?

Tell me, how then are we to prepare for times such as this? And I mean, this very moment for these things are far progressed in movement. How high has the crime rate climbed globally? Lawlessness! Mankind seeking his own way, and willing to destroy each other for it.

Brothers and sisters in the faith in Jesus Christ; fear not, for Christ said these things will come. But surely the time has come to look up and know that our redemption draws near. "Set your affections on things above, not things on earth." Heed the words of Paul here in our reading today earnestly, prepare as best you can to prepare yourself Spiritually, for someday soon, our Lord and Savior will return. Let no man deceive you. But then... You know, because the Holy Spirit confirms all these things within you. You know, while the world carries on in their ordinary ways, just as in the days of Noah. So, now more than ever; if you reach out to others in The Lord Jesus Christ, you are extending the hand of Salvation unto them. For only GOD can put a stop to what Satan is rolling out upon the World right now.
