Note for 2024/06/29 - Acts 28:1-31 KJV - The Sprint Ahead
Acts 28:1-31 KJV
[1] And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. [2] And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold. [3] And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. [4] And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. [5] And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. [6] Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. [7] In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously. [8] And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. [9] So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed: [10] who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary. [11] And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux. [12] And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days. [13] And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli: [14] where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome. [15] And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. [16] And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. [17] And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. [18] Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me. [19] But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of. [20] For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain. [21] And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee. [22] But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against. [23] And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. [24] And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. [25] And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, [26] saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; And seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: [27] For the heart of this people is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes have they closed; Lest they should see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should be converted, And I should heal them. [28] Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. [29] And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. [30] And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, [31] preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Note for 2024/06/29
We know the isle called Malita as Malta today, and Malta has an interesting history, but I will not keep you up with that. For those who the Lord leads to look into it, see also of the "Fat ladies of Malta," you will be surprised to find that figurines of it are still sold today. Many of the old things are still around and their origins are not fully understood except by those who still follow those religions.
So, Paul made it all the way to Rome and his life was spared for it. He testified for Christ and even lived in his own hired house, unrestrained from doing so with many hearing him. Pay close attention when he quotes from the book of Isaiah (Esaias).
Friends, what can we learn from this journey of Paul from Jerusalem to Rome? Is it not that we will reach that which we are called to do by GOD, if we Trust in Him? It is the Lord that blesses and keeps us and what He has set apart for us, will come to be, having what is needed to perform His duties. Paul's life is one example to us, his commitment and dedication can be commended, but it is our Lord Jesus Christ who truly deserves the Honor for taking a chief persecutor of the way and reforming him to become one of the chief Apostles and tutors for us to hear.
How has your faith in Christ changed you? What has GOD done for you? Like Paul, I know the Lord has healed me, kept me from death even. Have I then not a duty to testify for Christ before all too? No one can convince me otherwise, for I know the miracles GOD has shown me. It keeps my faith, but it is not for the miracles I have seen that I believe, but for the sacrifice made for us upon the Cross. I have investigated it for myself and found it perfect, but it is perfect even without my investigations. When GOD says that you must do something, He will get you there to do it. You will stand where He said you would, if you hold onto Him and obey Him. Wait on the LORD, don't let the "fast food" ways of our times make you impatient, wait on the Lord. When I was younger, I was eager to preach for Christ, but I did not have a real testimony for Him yet. No! But, with a life lived now, the evidence of the Love of GOD is known by me and I now have a testimony of Jesus Christ within myself, for which I am now grateful. I have had a life of extraordinary things, both good and evil. I know what I am forgiven for and how I was saved. Over the course of the past few years, I have shared much of it with you, restraining as much as I can not to reveal those I have forgiven for their transgressions against me. How do you call the Lord your healer, if He has not healed you; your Savior, if you have not been saved?
Each of us has a testimony of Christ to give, not? Some seem to have a testimony that has a greater impact on those who hear it than others. But, most of what GOD does for us goes unnoticed even. When all things are revealed, you will know more of it, even those things GOD protected you from, that did not come near you. Without God's protection, evil spirits would have torn you apart. Poisonous things would have had it's full effect on you, even in the air we breath and what we consume, but the Lord kept you and the harm intended for you came to very little effect. Now, many of you still do not know, for if you knew, you may have set yourself on revenge. But that is not what GOD wanted for us, to live vengeful lives. He is our vengeance, and He will judge the world.
You have read of the journey of Paul now, and there is still a little left to read. Let that encourage you, please my friends. We stand in this last mile of our journey now. Yes! This world is ready for all that we have read in the Word of GOD. Now, it is time to be ready for this last stretch of our own journey in the Lord. We may very well be that final generation that sees all the prophecies of GOD fulfilled. We will witness much in the months and years ahead.
I am left with one question for you today, a question the Lord asked me: "Are you ready?"
Shalom.

Psalm 85:1-13 KJV
[1] LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: Thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. [2] Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, Thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. [3] Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: Thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger. [4] Turn us, O God of our salvation, And cause thine anger toward us to cease. [5] Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? [6] Wilt thou not revive us again: That thy people may rejoice in thee? [7] Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, And grant us thy salvation. [8] I will hear what God the LORD will speak: For he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: But let them not turn again to folly. [9] Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; That glory may dwell in our land. [10] Mercy and truth are met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. [11] Truth shall spring out of the earth; And righteousness shall look down from heaven. [12] Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; And our land shall yield her increase. [13] Righteousness shall go before him; And shall set us in the way of his steps.
