Note for 2024/05/19 - 1 Corinthians 15:12-34 KJV - The Resurrection - Part 2
1 Corinthians 15:12-34 KJV
[12] Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? [13] But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: [14] and if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. [15] Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. [16] For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: [17] and if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. [18] Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. [19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. [20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. [21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [23] But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. [24] Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. [25] For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. [26] The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. [27] For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. [28] And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. [29] Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? [30] And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? [31] I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. [32] If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die. [33] Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. [34] Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Note for 2024/05/19
Today, we continue on in our reading on the matter of the resurrection. And while Paul makes a strong case for the resurrection, which I do believe in; my concern remains on that what I have noticed in the times we live today. Yes, first and foremost it is about what is explained here to those and Corinth, and thanks to the epistle, the dame is preached to us by Paul even to this day.
But friends, it is not just whether there is a resurrection or not, it is also whether you believe that you will be resurrected at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. You see, you can believe that Paul said it, but that is only a testimony of what was said, written. That is part of it yes, but that is not all of it. Do you believe that if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of GOD, even the first fruit of the resurrection and the Savior of Mankind; do you believe that you will be resurrected from the grave? Does that apply to you? Or is it just the words of some man in our distant past?
It is not just an account of what happened long ago. The Word of GOD also teaches us what is the Truth this very day we live in now. And by prophecy we are given a preview of how things will be in times that are still coming for all of Mankind. Not just for us, but also for all of GOD'S creation.
The same way, you can believe that there was the person of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and even in that belief, that He lived and died and was resurrected and taken up to our Father in Heaven... You may still not believe that this was done for you. You may still be convinced that you are unworthy and will not be part of it. All have fallen short of God's Glory, which is precisely why Christ Jesus was sent for us. We are all unworthy by our own efforts, but counted worthy by the Love that GOD has for us. We are included to Salvation by the Love of GOD, by the Sacrifice by Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of GOD.
What then of knowing Him? Not about him as even the demons do. What then of the Book of Life? You are known by what you do and say, and by God, even your thoughts and prayers are known, even the heart and your true intention. So are you known to GOD, all are known. Do you know the LORD? Do you walk in his ways? Did He not leave you all that you need to get to know Him? He even sent His Holy Spirit to come and live within us, and correct us, comfort us and lead us on the right path. We have the Word in writing so we can study it, and the Holy Spirit that confirms within.
So it is not just whether there will be a resurrection, it is also about the knowledge even with that inner confirmation that you will have your part in that, by the promises of GOD. And if you know the LORD, you know that He is not a liar. Then... What you read in the Word of GOD will indeed happen, just as God said it would. And the resurrection will take place, just as it is written. As GOD said it will happen, not according to man's imaginations.
So do you know what GOD says on matters, or what man says about GOD in a matter? In the words of man lays the root of all kinds of doctrines, and while all man's words are spirit inspired, not all is of the Holy Spirit. Which is the kindest way I can relay it to you at this time.
So, it is not just believing that the resurrection will happen, it is also about believing whether you will have a part in it. First the dead in Christ, and as you will see just a bit further along, then that changing of those still alive in that moment, in one moment. That is part of the first resurrection. For after that there will be another, but that is unto the white throne judgment. But that we will look at when we get to that part of the Scriptures.
It is not just faith, it is also hope and trust. And of course, the greatest, the Agape Love of GOD.
Shalom.
