Note for 2024/04/22 - 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 KJV‬

‭1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 KJV‬

[1] Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.  [2] We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; [3] remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; [4] knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. [5] For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. [6] And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: [7] so that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. [8] For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. [9] For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; [10] and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

"... even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." What a powerful ending of this chapter.

From our reading we know that Paul would have been in Corinth at the time when he wrote this letter to the Thessalonians, but where he was or when he wrote this, that is not as important as what he wrote to them.

Did you notice that it reads of a deliverance that is done, for a wrath to come? What Christ has done for us, has a promise for us in our future. It is secure, if only we believe in Him. It is confirmed by the declaration that GOD made in John 3:16. How GOD will deliver us and spare us from the wrath to come, that He knows; we know that our Father said that we will not perish but have everlasting life, and we trust in His Word.

So often, especially as we navigate this life and purge unrighteousness from us, we are under the impression that what we do somehow secure our Salvation. What Christ did for us, is enough for our eternal salvation. Our part is to believe, and before you are consumed with thoughts and ideas, remember the sinner in the cross besides Jesus. If you then want to consider and ponder, think on what is faith in Jesus Christ.

A belief in Christ, is also a belief in what He said and done. You cannot accept Jesus Christ, but reject His instruction. It is Christ that said there will come a failing away. It is Christ that announced that there will be some saying that they did works in His Name and He will answer them, "depart from me you workers of iniquity, for I never knew you."

Now, I know about our president in South Africa, but that does not indicate that he knows me or I know him truly. Oh, what I know of him is fed to me by the media, by the words of man. I am not in his inner circle.

Friends, you need to be in the inner circle of Jesus Christ, by The Holy Spirit. Did Christ not say we shall know the tree by its fruit? What then is the fruit of Christ Jesus? We get to know someone by what they do and say. It is also in what a person does and says how we can learn if their words and deeds are the same. So, even a lair gets exposed and the hypocrite. If this is something you battle with, then I suggest reading the four Gospels that were left again. But, also know that there is red-letter-text throughout the New Testament, even as the Book of Revelations is the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John on Patmos. To believe in Jesus Christ we also need to believe what He said. Paul was called on his way to Damascus by the Lord that appeared unto him. Do you believe that?

This deliverance Paul speaks of here, it is done. We have part in it when we believe in Jesus Christ. This is a deliverance of the soul of man, while we may still lay our flesh down in a grave.

Friends, that informs us that there's life after the earthly end. In a manner of understanding, that means that the dust of us will return to the earth it came from, but the breath of GOD, that He placed in us at Creation, will return unto Him. Is it not that Breath of GOD in man's nostrils, that made him a living soul? We are in this world, but not of it. That Christ said too. The Kingdom of GOD is in us. Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in this world.

The words I write here to you are to increase your faith. And so too, we receive of The Holy Spirit assurance. Yes, we are comforted by The Holy Spirit. What GOD has granted permission must come, it must happen. What did GOD grant permission, do we know?

We are to live by faith and not by sight, right? Do we? So where is it that we can work on our faith? For whom do we live? For who do we labor? Can we love Christ Jesus, but hate those He died for?

These things must be at the forefront of our mind and heart. To love one another as Christ loved us. We must remember that the flesh that we see is but a vessel for the breath GOD placed in it. And that soul may very well be in trouble, how are we to assist?

You can forget what I wrote here, but do not forget the Words of Jesus Christ. He testified of His Father, and ours; and the Father testified of Him. So... Go to the Word and make that knowledge of Christ Jesus and our Father in Heaven real for yourself. It is not of my testimony that you will be assured of your deliverance, but of Christ in you. This is my testimony, and part of my deliverance. I cannot give you my deliverance, that is my oil; you need to find your own. I can only say that you will need oil. So I point you to where I got my oil from, so you may get your own.

Shalom
