1. Opening
As some of you might know, I am fortunate enough that The LORD called me to be the full-time care giver to my mother. As a matter of fact, had it not been for that purpose in my daily life, the recorded daily devotionals may not have been something that I would have done. This is where I started to prepare to do quiet time with mom every morning. As her memory is not what it was any more, I wanted to ensure that she does not forget what she has devoted her life to in learning.
There are a few ways in which you can partake in the Daily Devotional:

2. Scripture Text
Matthew 7:7-12 KJV
[7] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: [8] for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. [9] Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? [10] Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? [11] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? [12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

3. Devotional Reflection
This morning, mom was not doing so great again. Something, which she has been eating for a long time, made her feel unwell. I was awakened by Kellyn sitting on the floor by the bed, undoubtedly, tired herself. Her father is still in hospital, but is showing signs of improvement after his stroke. She heard mom, while I was still sleeping and decided to permit me to get some rest. Had it not been for the puppies (they are not really puppies anymore, but that is who they will be for us, always) running around on the wooden floors, I would probably not have woken up. My hearing presents its own set of complications.
I told her to get in bed and get some sleep, that I will take over, but she stayed up until we got mom back into bed. She gave mom something for the nausea just before she turned back to bed after 5am, having to get up for work in a short while. Even now, as her usual breakfast time rolled by, in turn, I have opted to give her a few moments more to lay in and will take her cereal to her in a bit.
This is everyday matters, isn't it? So, why am I sharing it with you?
I share this with you firstly, because when I read this scripture, which is a bit of an expansion to today's Verse of the Day on the second day in the week of Global 24/7 Prayer, and the LORD said to me that I must testify from my own life to you today.
The truth of our situation is that we too, like so many others have been affected by the rising prices and lowering incomes. I myself, a pensioner, which is slightly higher than the public grant pensioners receive from the government, but nowhere near enough to run a household. Mom gets the smaller amount from the government pension grant. So, we have become highly dependent on the (largely) commission based income Kellyn receives, which has been challenging itself, by a contracting economy. So, yes, things at home have been more challenging than before, but GOD has sustained us and we still eat everyday, much of that coming from the good graces of family and friends, who are undoubtedly stirred in the Spirit to give. That is the truth of our situation, but also that we are often still afforded treats, and it is nothing strange to see someone walk in with a chocolate or some other treat for us. Oh, "give us our daily bread" is fulfilled in our lives and we are truly aware of it, living in a trust that GOD will provide today, as He provided yesterday and all the yesterdays before.
Now, to some this might seem like a hard life, but we are blessed, friends. You see, we cannot deny that it is GOD who provides, and that He uses vessels of mercy and grace for His purpose. Yes, it is a walk of faith, and therein is the blessing, because we know the bank balances of our combined incomes cannot afford us the lifestyle we live. So, if that is true, then the Word of GOD is true also, that GOD will heal and renew us, day-by-day.
Matthew 7:12 KJV
[12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.7.12.KJV
There is something I want to show you, friends. GOD uses us, vessels of mercy and grace, to help others. This is where faith in Christ becomes effective in the world. It is when we share with one another, and do the little acts of kindness, that we can do for one another. Yes, it is about allowing one another to sleep in a few moments, or to bring something to eat or drink, to permit the other to sit and rest a little. It is about doing the dishes, so the other person doesn't have to. But, it goes further than that.
Just last night I was blessed in a major way. Kellyn's brother was clearing his cupboards and had some clothes for what those in the USA would call "good will." In South Africa, we have the term, "hand me downs." I received the most beautiful and comfortable clothes, such as I haven't had in a while, and it is the branded stuff. You know, the good stuff. But, some of that will also be going to my nephews. Now, let me show you the Word at work.
Matthew 25:40 KJV
[40] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.25.40.KJV
But for the complete picture, you need some verses before this.
Matthew 25:34-39 KJV
[34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: [35] for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: [36] naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. [37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? [38] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? [39] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.25.34-39.KJV
When we pray to God, and ask, it is this "vehicle" of good will that is activated in the Spirit. The truth is, we all live on the "hand me downs" of the Father's Good Will. Even the positions we hold at work, or the alms we receive from the rich, but it is GOD Who moves the hearts, and His sheep that answers the "call." So, to all those who have done the "good will" of our Father in Heaven, in the Name of Jesus Christ, being obedient to the Holy Spirit, may the LORD Bless and Keep you. For it is by this vehicle of GOD'S grace that I am blessed day by day, and I can assure you, the Lord will bless in return.
Today's devotional started with me telling you about my mom. You see, mom loves to crochet when she can, which is most of the day, when she has wool. She used to crochet these intriguing blankets made out of blocks she crocheted, which would be needled together. And that is the picture I see when I see this Grace of GOD working in people, by whose hand the LORD Bless so many. We, as the church, when we are living according to GOD'S will, are like mom's blankets that bring warmth to someone. All the beautiful different colours of wool, carefully put to shape and form, to cover someone when they are cold. We are knitted together, just like mom's blankets, and while we are not all the same, those differences often speak to different needs in one another's lives.
In closing: These days, the blankets have become too heavy for mom's fragile form, but she still crochets, hats and gloves and sometimes scarves. Mom sends these products to my sister in Hogsback, where she in turn sells them to add to her income, so she can afford to have a roof over her head.
So, while many may look at our household, and our family and even say, "they have fallen on hard times," I present you with an alternative viewpoint: We have been blessed to see and live by the ways of GOD. We cannot survive on our own, and maybe we do not have all the fancy items this world has on over, but we have one another. Sure, every now and then, one may fall ill, or of late, a part of that changes, like when the economy dwindles and commission earning goes down, but, GOD makes up for that on other ends.
Your freewill gift or offering is an answer to a prayer somewhere. Sometimes, you might not get as much as a "thank you," and that is okay, because, the time will come when that person will be able to look back on their life, as we looked at mine today, and have the assurance that by the Will and Love of GOD, even by the vessels in which GOD chose to make His abode, we are sustained and cared for.
4. Verse of the Day

Matthew 7:7 KJV
[7] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Note on the Verse:
This verse was the core of today’s message and testimony, given, as led by The LORD.
5. Optional Reading / Study Expansion
A Little Deeper Look
So often, we “get cheated” by only reading a single verse or even just a section of a chapter. Sometimes, not even an entire chapter covers the concept that is being told over, then we benefit from reading more chapters or even the whole book from which it came. Much the same today, there is more:
The verse just before our Verse of the Day:
Matthew 7:6 KJV
[6] Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.7.6.KJV
The same way, we only have a partial section from Matthew 25, what happens to those on the left?
Matthew 25:41-46 KJV
[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: [42] for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: [43] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. [44] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? [45] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. [46] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.25.41-46.KJV
It is a complicated matter for the Christian heart to consider, but there are those that will never bow the knee before the LORD. (Jude and 2 Peter 2 - if you want to look into it more, and even these two references are just a brief look at this.) The strange thing we learn in the Bible, is how GOD will often use ones like Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar and Cyrus too. And yes, the LORD will even use these for the benefit of His Elect. As we then pray, we make supplication to the Throne of GOD, and GOD answers with His Will supreme over the requests of mankind, we honour that by praying, “Thy will be done.”
6. Closing Paragraph
So is prayers often answered:
Matthew 7:12 KJV
[12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.7.12.KJV
But, it starts here, where GOD then puts into action the answer by those who obey His Word and live in agreement with His will:
Matthew 7:7 KJV
[7] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.7.7.KJV
Go... Live fulfilling lives, render unto one another, what is in the Heart of GOD.
Selah, Shalom.
