Matthew 11:1-30 KJV
[1] And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.[2] Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, [3] and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? [4] Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: [5] the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [6] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. [7] And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? [8] But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. [9] But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. [10] For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. [11] Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. [12] And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. [13] For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. [14] And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. [15] He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. [16] But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, [17] and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. [18] For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. [19] The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. [20] Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: [21] Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. [22] But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. [23] And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. [24] But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee. [25] At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. [26] Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. [27] All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. [28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Note for 20250603
Jesus said, "Come unto me..." all those who are in need of rest. When I look around me, most of all I see qualifies as those He called to Him. Who is not in labour and heavy laden? There are some though, right? But, we do not always see the heavy burdens of mankind, even those burdens that visit so many, that robs man of sleep at night. We see the rise of food prices, inflation on everything and yet, most people’s wages are dwindling and employment harder and harder to find. So many are reliant on charities and favours. People are heavy laden, I see the backs break under the weight of all that is placed upon mankind. And yet, there is a generation that lives without care, their burdens laid upon others. Are they for GOD, or do they trust in another? I will leave that for you to ponder upon.
This chapter starts out by John the Baptist sending two of his disciples to Christ with a question that he asks of Christ, and Christ answers straight from Isaiah 35:5-6.
Isaiah 35:5-6 KJV
[5] Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. [6] Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

After the disciples of John had left, Jesus testified of John, how the unbelievers said that he had a devil, and the Son of man a glutton and a winebibber. Jesus says something about John that I do not want you to miss.
Matthew 11:14-15 KJV
[14] And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. [15] He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This is based on the prophecy that Elijah would come.
Malachi 4:5-6 KJV
[5] Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: [6] and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mal.4.5-6.KJV
And I wonder, how much may man have gotten wrong? Do you believe in Jesus, in all that He said? Well, what then to make of this? And what about this:
John 12:31-32 KJV
[31] Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. [32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.12.31-32.KJV
You see, each of us has a faith within us as we received of the LORD.
Romans 12:3 KJV
[3] For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.12.3.KJV
So if you lack faith, Who can you ask for more? You see, there is a need for a conversation between GOD and mankind. And we do it by prayer. Is it not written to remain prayerful? It actually says quite a bit more than just that, but also that.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 KJV
[16] Rejoice evermore. [17] Pray without ceasing. [18] In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. [19] Quench not the Spirit. [20] Despise not prophesyings. [21] Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. [22] Abstain from all appearance of evil.
https://bible.com/bible/1/1th.5.16-22.KJV
What is the prayer given unto us to pray, and how should we pray?
Matthew 6:6 KJV
[6] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.6.6.KJV
There is also the matter of being content with what you have:
Philippians 4:11 KJV
[11] Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
https://bible.com/bible/1/php.4.11.KJV
Or shall we complain against the LORD as Israel did in the wilderness when they cried for meat? All of our hearts we can make known to God in prayer. It is also said by Christ that GOD knows what we need. It is also written that what we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ, we will receive and even why our prayers might not be answered.
James 4:3 KJV
[3] Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
https://bible.com/bible/1/jas.4.3.KJV
Friends, when we come to Christ, it is on the terms of GOD, do you understand? What is it to trust upon the LORD for all you need? And, what do we truly need? Should we not rely on the judgment of GOD first, that He will do as He said, and get on with what is required of us?
There is a cross to be taken up before we follow Christ, and a cost to be calculated. What does it mean to come to Christ then? Like children we are to trust in GOD as we would have trusted our parents when we were young, even before we could speak and only cried when we had need. GOD knows what we need, but have we asked God what He wants? No one comes to the Father except through Christ Jesus His only begotten Son. That, my friends, is written too.
Selah, Shalom
