[37] And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. [38] And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. [39] And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. [40] Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? [41] But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. [42] But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. [43] Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. [44] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. [45] Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. [46] And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. [47] Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. [48] Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. [49] Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: [50] that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; [51] from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. [52] Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. [53] And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: [54] laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

Note for 20250429
I must admit, this morning's reading was quite hard for me. You see, for those that bring the Word to others are often faced with similar circumstances as what the Pharisees and Scribes faced, as Christ speaks here to them. We speak of things, which some of it we ourselves still struggle with. Now, what is to be done with this? Shall I remain silent on the Truth for the sake of my own conviction? Shall I remain silent because I am still imperfect? LORD, help me to do what is right, to speak what is Truth and leave the Judgment to the Most High GOD, our Father in Heaven. Listen here:

Who of us is without sin? And yet, do we strive for perfection? What then did the Pharisees and Scribes do, but this? They did a whole lot more though, look how Christ pointed to them as the killers of the prophets and messengers of GOD.
Of all that Christ said here, this morning the following stands out to me above all.
Luke 11:44 KJV
[44] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

Now, to fully grasp it, a person must know a little about the Law. You see, those that came close to the dead were reckoned to be unclean and had to go through a cleansing. Now here Christ says to them that they are like graves, unknown to those that come close to them, and they make those that come near them unclean. That is quite a statement, true as it may have been, still hard in the hearing. And that is what we see play out, even here towards the end of this chapter, as they vehemently urge Him to speak on matters, laying in wait for Him to find reason to bring accusations against Him.
Now, of course, today, if we have any good sense, we know it is a fool's errand to accuse the Son of GOD, for He was and is perfect in all. While they should have known by the scriptures they had read to know all these little things to bring accusation, they did not know that Jesus was the Son of GOD. And it is in this that I mark a serious danger for mankind, in that we investigate everything and form an opinion. Is that judgment?
Maybe, let me take a slightly different perspective for the purpose of explanation. Have you heard of the man that claims he is Islam's Mahdi? How many know that Islam is waiting for the return of Jesus Christ too? For their faith says that Jesus will help their Mahdi, or at least, so it is said. I speak on reports, not my own knowledge. Have you seen the public outcry about this man, and the accusations against him, to the point that he says, he is not the anti-Christ. Does the Word not say that the World will love the anti-Christ, and that they will follow him? This man speaks and offends everyone, it is not quite the way I have read.
And there you have it, in the offence! The same was true for the Pharisees and scribes. Look here in verse 45:

[45] Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.

I am not offended by this man, speaking on things without a knowledge of Christ. Yet, he speaks blasphemous words, so why would I hear him? Does GOD need a man to stand in defence of Him?
2 Kings 19:35 KJV
[35] And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

You see, we are called to be obedient to GOD. Is it offense that drives us, or the instruction of the LORD? If it comes from a place of offence, then it does not come from a place of love. What then of what we just recently read:
Luke 6:27-28 KJV
[27] But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, [28] bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Is it a personal attack on someone in love or hate? Don't you know that there are many false prophets, and even they will speak of false prophets. Do we stand in love or hate, and does our hate make us unclean? Do not fear! Was that not an instruction too? Now, do we keep the watch to condemn or to save? There is a difference between correction and condemnation, one comes in love. One comes in contradiction to the Word of GOD. And yet, I know that we all fall short of the glory of GOD, for that reason did Christ come to our Salvation.
Now, this here is left for us to consider, in line with the log in our eye and the splinter in another's:

Let us not make unclean, that which GOD has made clean. If GOD is offended, if this is not permitted by God, then GOD will strike him down. Remember, that GOD let's rain fall on both the wicked and the righteous until the day of judgment. Instead of focusing on one, focus rather on Jesus Christ. Be aware of all, but let Christ show the way. Be wise as serpents, gentle as doves; where does wisdom start? Fear GOD, not a man full of boasting and slanderous words. Pray GOD's will be done.
2 Thessalonians 2:11 KJV
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Will GOD not separate the goats and sheep? Is the anti-Christ permitted for us, or for the purposes of GOD, that those that wish to walk after a false messiah, would? Who sends the strong delusion again? Keeping watch is to stand on the city's wall. The LORD is our Protector, He is the Keeper of our Souls.

Now what House is spoken of here? Is it the one that Solomon established or the one that Christ established in mankind, by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that the Father and the Son can come and make their abode in us? In conclusion then, so you may know:
