Luke 7:18-35 KJV

[18] And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.  [19] And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? [20] When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? [21] And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. [22] Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. [23] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. [24] And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? [25] But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. [26] But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. [27] This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. [28] For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. [29] And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. [30] But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. [31] And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? [32] They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. [33] For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. [34] The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! [35] But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Note for 20250413

Shall we wait for another who will save us then? Jesus testifies of John the Baptist, and He testify about the Pharisees and lawyers, but what and who, besides the declaration of The Father from Heaven, testifies of Him?

Luke 7:22-23 KJV

[22] Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. [23] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Isaiah 29:18-21 KJV

[18] And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. [19] The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. [20] For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off: [21] that make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

Malachi 3:1-3 KJV

[1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. [2] But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: [3] and he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

I know, this is a large chunk of meat bitten off here today. Can you receive it? If I left it at that, if my words went no further; can you see Jesus Christ in the Words of the Prophets of GOD? You see, Jesus does not give these men an idle message to take back to John the Baptist. He speaks on what is being done in relation to the Prophecies about not only Him, but also of John (if the words of the Prophets are known.)

GOD does not change, His methods remain the same. Look at what Moses received to give:

Exodus 23:20-22 KJV

[20] Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. [21] Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. [22] But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

Of course, if we go to verses 29-30 in Exodus there, we even read about the timing of things. But friends, what of Christ Jesus in your day today? Who shall testify of Him?

Luke 7:23 KJV

[23] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.7.23.KJV

How does this now read in context of what Moses said? Shall you provoke the Lord? We have been brought to the Saving Grace of the Son of GOD, for we heard and believed. Yes, we received the LORD and entered into His peace. In Him we rest from our burdens as we lay it down at the foot of the cross. Indeed we may know the Good Shepherd, and live in the Hope of Salvation and redemption unto our Father in Heaven. The Poor is blessed by Him, for He is our Provider, even as men (even unbelieving men at times) bring the tokens of GOD's love into our home.

Psalm 23:2-3 KJV

[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. [3] He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

We are blessed by what Jesus Christ has done, and what great comfort have we found in the Spirit of GOD poured out in us? But all would not receive Him, and this has been the source of weeping for many of GOD's children. And here, in this section in Luke 7, Jesus Christ speaks against them. Look and see, hear and understand...

Luke 7:33-35 KJV

[33] For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. [34] The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! [35] But wisdom is justified of all her children.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.7.33-35.KJV

I wonder... How many sermons have been preached on verse 35 here? You see, in just a short statement, Christ gives "a tip of the hat" to the proverbs of Solomon. Now we might miss it all together, but the learned ones that stood there in judgment of Christ, knew. It is against them that Jesus speaks here in the quote above, the Pharisees and the Lawyers, the scribes and all the naysayers. They knew the scriptures, yet understanding may have evaded them. Look what Solomon wrote...

Proverbs 4:5-9 KJV

[5] Get wisdom, get understanding: Forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. [6] Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: Love her, and she shall keep thee. [7] Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding. [8] Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: She shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. [9] She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: A crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

https://bible.com/bible/1/pro.4.5-9.KJV

I am well aware that not all can receive this today in understanding. For the Word of GOD must be in you, and this here is not milk but steak. The Word of GOD, especially when at work in us, works together cohesively in all that man encounters in life. Those that honour the wisdom of GOD, the sound teachings received from GOD justifies wisdom. For in hearing, they receive and understand. Those who uphold the ways of wisdom, and the start of wisdom is the fear of GOD. Do not provoke Him who comes in the Name of GOD.

Now, by conversation on the Word of GOD, all that we received and in the pondering of it, we can come into a deeper understanding. However, for the meek and all the children, there is still the cross and trust in GOD. For Christ also said, blessed are those who have not seen, yet believed. Yes, even just upon the Name of the Son of GOD.

We might be persecuted and driven out of gatherings as man is insistent on his foolishness of honouring the flesh over the Spirit. Yes, we might be thrown in dungeons and deep pits, oppressed, discarded as lowly things, worthy (in the sight of fools) to less than is given to a dog. But, we are at a Spiritual River that flows from the Throne of GOD. The wealth of the wicked shall sustain us, and the meek shall inherit the earth. (Yes, I said it, for Jesus Christ said it in Matthew 5) The meek shall inherit the earth. How does that fit into the doctrines of man?

For now, those that ignore the Wisdom of GOD, are speaking on prosperity in the kingdom of this world. They did not receive John The Baptist, who came in the Spirit of Elijah. They did not, and still don't, receive the Son of GOD, though He rose from the dead. They refuse the salvation that is of GOD, and stand in a justification of their own that cannot last. The heading for today echoes then again, "Be not offended" in Christ Jesus. Do not provoke Him, the Angel of the LORD Most High. Just remember these words too... As it is written for us, as the last chapter of the Old Testament, before the Gospel of Jesus Christ is received. The Gospel that starts with this man, John The Baptist, of whom Christ says there is no greater prophet than him born of women. Read then here how the meek will inherit the earth...

Malachi 4:1-6 KJV

[1] For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. [2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. [3] And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.  [4] Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. [5] Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: [6] and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
