The Audio Version of today’s note

Mark 10:17-31 KJV

[17] And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? [18] And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. [19] Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. [20] And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. [21] Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. [22] And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. [23] And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! [24] And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! [25] It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. [26] And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? [27] And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. [28] Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. [29] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, [30] but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. [31] But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Note for 20250123

No, this is not a prosperity teaching, though there is enough here to have such a misunderstanding. The heart will seek more of that which is in the heart. If the heart is then for gold and silver, dainties and the luxuries of extreme comforts; then that is what riches is measured as.

Do you remember reading of the time when the mother of Jesus and His siblings came looking for Him, how he pointed to those that were with Him, saying that whosoever does the will of His Father, they are His mothers and His brothers and sisters? Did He not also speak blessing on those who will receive any of those He sent out to minister the Gospel of the Kingdom of GOD to others? For whose gain do you labour, yours or to the Kingdom of GOD? And if then for the Kingdom, are they who are joined to the Kingdom of GOD not called your family? Do we not speak of brothers and sisters in reference? Are the widows not like our mothers?

What about our Father? When this young man came to Christ and said, "Good Master..." What did Christ reply? Is it not written to call no one on earth father?

Matthew 23:8-10 KJV

[8] But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. [9] And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. [10] Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Who then is your family? And do all stay in just one house here on earth or are there many houses which may be called home, a place of shelter?

But, man's heart has hardened. The love of many has waxed cold. How many go without shelter, because men have lost their first love?

You know that I care for my mother, living with us in the house. Do you know that I have been brought to pause in quiet time, by the Spirit to go and check on her? I have even been brought to pause, mid-recording, to answer a message received from someone that needed me. Did we not just recently read how the disciples were put to labour to serve the masses with the increase of bread, when they were prevented from the rest that Christ intended for them to have. Family. Those that do the will of our Father. Those who are searching for Him, seeking salvation and deliverance. Did Christ not pause to deal with someone who needed Him? What about the request for healing and driving out unclean spirits?

But, do not be mistaken, there will come a time of reward, even here on earth.

Matthew 5:3-12 KJV

[3] Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [4] Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. [5] Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. [6] Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [7] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [8] Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. [9] Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. [10] Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. [11] Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [12] Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Tell me, for which riches do you then yearn for? Are you like this young man, grieved by that which he had to give up; or, like these disciples of Christ, that gave up everything, even unto death? But do not be mistaken, the wealth of the godless is stored up for the righteous. Even Israel had to endure the wilderness before they came into the promised land.

A rich life is to share the riches of GOD with those who are such a family as Christ has spoken about. And we are called by Christ and even the Law to have compassion for the stranger among us. Have your heart then grown cold, while you profess to have warmth in you. Are you hot or cold? Who has become lukewarm?

Who do you call, "Good Master?" Or, shall I ask a more apt question for our time? Why do you read the Word of GOD and congregate with believers? Is it to feel better about yourself, maybe in yourself; or to be a servant of the Most High GOD? Tell me, what was Christ's first instruction when this young man asked Jesus what he must do to inherit the Kingdom of GOD?

Selah, Shalom.

Let’s look again at the verse of the day on the date of the writing of this note:

Matthew 13:44 KJV

[44]  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
