Revelation 20 KJV

[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. [2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, [3] and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. [4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. [5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. [6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. [7] And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, [8] and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. [9] And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. [10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. [11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. [12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. [14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

This chapter can be divided up into three distinct parts. You have the binding of the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan. Then, you have the rule and reign of Christ on earth with His Saints, lasting for a thousand years. And then you have the 2nd resurrection which is unto the White Throne judgment. Very broad outlay, I know, but it is just for perspective of the range of this chapter.

Now, as it has become usual, I will link the Bible Study teachings of Pastor Dave Jones of Royston Bethel TV on the Blog today. Where you may also find an audio version of this note, as I share the word with my mother for whom I care. But, before all that, first we must look at the response we have to what we have just read. I will try to keep it brief, so those that have less time than others may find what they need, and those that need more can find it in compiled form on the blog at hourseofbread4u.blogspot.com. It is your choice how much you bring in.

In the first section, notable; the true enemy of GOD is described. Dragon, serpent, Satan and the Devil. Second, it is the Angel who had the key to the bottomless pit, that could open it so that Satan could be bound by a chain that the Angel had with Him. No more is needed, that is it, for the power to do that is given to the Angel to do it. And then, men are no longer deceived by Satan. The result is a thousand years of peace on earth, under the rule and reign of Christ and His Saints.

Secondly, there is this very real and guaranteed period that was just mentioned. Remember how we were told by Christ our Lord, that the meek would inherit the earth? Matthew 5 comes into effect here at this time, and all that we have read of the rewards that will come for the saints on earth. Yes, even the lion eating straw. The earth will be at peace, because Satan is bound and Christ reigns. It is at this point that I wish to ask just a simple question: If the saints then rule and reign with Christ, over who and/or what? Do you remember what we read yesterday in Zephaniah 3? And of course, it is not the only indication of the fame that will be given to those that the Lord redeemed. Let me insert it here as a reminder...

Zephaniah 3:19 KJV

"Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame."

I will try my best to compile a list of references on the blog of all that I can find that is pointing to this very real period of time that will play out a sabbatical millennium of peace here on earth.

Sometimes, trusting in the Lord for what He has promised is just less complicated than wanting to drink in all the knowledge in one moment. Faith outweighs knowledge, for it builds by the Spirit of GOD; trust, wisdom and understanding, which comes from GOD Himself. You see, in trust, I do not have to understand everything; I just have to know that it will be as it is the Will of GOD for it to be. And yet, by the Same Spirit will things be revealed to us, who walk in the Spirit. Then, it doesn't have to be according to my opinions and theories; it only has to be what GOD wants; and I am not only okay with that, it brings me joy. To use a somewhat human term, "because He deserves it." The LORD alone is worthy. It will be according to His pleasure for He is the Creator.

Lastly, in this chapter; we see the release of Satan again at the end of this period of time. He then gets up to his old trickery and deception, and leads man on earth back into rebellion against GOD. Gog and Magog, the final war on the earth. This time though, it is a brief and abrupt end for them, fire comes down from heaven and consumes them. Then, the second resurrection and all is brought before the White Throne for judgements according to their works. Yes, even those that were just destroyed by the fire falling from Heaven. Satan is cast into the fire and all that stood with him. Also note, that the beast and the false prophet are still in the lake of fire, where they were thrown a thousand years ago, at this time.

It is such a huge chapter and it covers an enormous period of time. Now, do you remember the question that I asked about who or what will be reigned over by Christ? It is these that came into rebellion again at the end. Have you noticed I write that Satan leads man into rebellion again, as it is written here in this chapter too?

Friends, do you remember when the Sadducees came to Christ with their questions on resurrection? Did He not say then that we would become like the Angels? (Mark 12:18-27) Did you not just read that the second death has no power over those who have part in the first resurrection?

I know, especially in our current state, we cannot know everything yet. It is almost as if we are too small and too weak at this moment still to hold on to it all. But, you can trust in GOD. His Word does not contradict Himself, it is our understanding that fails. So by faith and trust, we have access in Christ to even that which we do not even know or understand. Simply by believing in the Son of GOD. Now, do you remember John 3:16 still?

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

So, now you have witnessed in the Word of GOD for yourself, the declaration of GOD Almighty regarding Christ our Lord, and how it will be fulfilled. That builds trust in Him, not? Believe then, that this second death will have no power over you. Trust in the LORD. He will bring all to a destined result. Each will receive a just reward, even as Satan and all that stood with him. It is a seed thing, it is a type thing. Just as GOD said in Genesis 3:15.

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

We might feel a little lost at times, but GOD is in full control. And I, for one, trust in Him. I am even convinced. Sadly, and very sadly so; my conviction counts only for myself, each must have their own. But it is from this conviction that I share with you here, for I too long that all be saved and that none should perish.

Now, I can write more, but I will end off here, for the sake of time restraints.
