Revelation 2:18-29 KJV

[18] And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; [19] I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. [20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. [21] And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. [22] Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. [23] And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. [24] But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. [25] But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. [26] And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: [27] and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. [28] And I will give him the morning star. [29] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Note for 2024/08/29

Every time, these letters ends with, "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit say unto the churches (plural.)" This is to be heard by the Spirit. Without the Spirit, what might you hear?

Today, the focus falls square on this Jezebel that Christ speaks of. Now for those that want a brief breakdown of who Jezebel was, I will insert a link here for you to see

Christ, while he was with us in the flesh, and even here in this chapter, equates those of the Jews with evil in their heart to be of the synagogue of Satan. Even saying that they are the children of their father the devil, vipers and snakes. Why do I mention this here, because Christ often speaks of something by a likeness. Even so, it is harder for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of GOD, than for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle. So, it is easy to follow that here too, that is those that have traits of Queen Jezebel, wife of King Ahab in the old testament. If you read the article from the link I provided, you will know her practices and her heritage and who she served. If you read the accounts of Jezebel, you will know even more. For one, as Jahu approached the castle after killing King Ahab, when she saw him, she put on makeup. I am just giving you what is written in the Word of GOD. Now this could have been a woman in the church that rose to teach and seduce other believers into the same kind of practices, but we also know that the Word of GOD brings a form of alignment between idolatry and adultery. The term daughters of a mother, is often referring to something, like a teaching, that may look a little different from the origin of it, but that it has the same root. So too, are there daughter cities of a main city center, I suppose the easiest way to explain that today would be to point at the suburbs of a city. But now see it Spiritually as something born of a spiritual orientation. It is a teaching that bears a likeness to the first departure from the Truth in Christ and the Gospel of Christ and the Word of GOD.

While we can indeed go into the depths of what this reference to Jezebel may mean, we ourselves must be weary that we do not venture into deep that we may come to know the depths of Satan (as they say,) especially in not becoming that which brings false accusations against another. Dare I say then, that it is probably Spiritually wise, not to depart from the original Gospel of Christ, our Lord and Savior. The question I have for you this day is to consider; just how far have modern doctrines departed from the original intent of the Gospel? It brings us back to all these "daughters" of the original departure from the Truth, ignoring verses in the Word of GOD, because it does not soothsay, but convict us of our sin. And in the love of this world and its ways, doctrine is ignored for the occasion to walk in sin, unrepentantly. The same is true, with wild interpretations and debates. For example, the Word says that GOD created man, male and female created He them. And what are the world's interpretations today, my friends?

As we started out on this Journey through the Book of Revelation, I stated that I will be looking at those things in me that are not inline with the Word of GOD. Does it then surprise you, that in today's scripture Christ speaks of how He searches the reins and heart? Friends, that directly speaks to what is in us, truly in us, without excuse or justification. That means the reason why we resist the commandments of GOD. Is self-control not one of the fruits of the Spirit? And the choice, whether we do good or evil, is it not ours to make? Do we walk after the righteousness of Christ, or by excuse and justification?

In practice, I have much to say, but I will refrain from doing so as best I can. For I know that it is the Holy Spirit working in us on our journey of deliverance and sanctification. However, this question I will ask: just how much pagan practice has been adopted into what is projected to us as the church of Christ by the world, today? Yes, I say what the world projects as churches have become business entities, tutored by the world in falsities. Brick and mortar buildings, and counsels that stand in a similitude to the synagogue of Satan. Maybe, even a daughter of it.

But, what I write, my friends, is not focused on the masses, nor on the church at large for we know that the True Church of Christ, the Body and the Bride of Christ, is in Christ and by Christ alone. Outside Christ, no part of the church can truly be claimed, for without Christ, you cannot be part of Him. So, the true church is scattered all throughout the earth, and exists in the Holy Spirit and belongs to the Kingdom of GOD. It is not captured in a building, but defined by Christ Himself. So will there be two in the field, one taken and one left behind.

Your faith and your doctrine, must not be a daughter of these false doctrines. That is why I urge you for self reflection, that the Word of GOD may lead each one of us directly before our Lord Jesus Christ. That He is our tutor, our Rabbi, but also our Good Shepherd. Don't let this world deceive you, Christ died for us while we were sinners. This world will seek to have you turn your back on Christ, while He is knocking at your door.

Do you want to look at your own truth with Salvation by Christ in mind? Then, ask yourself before the Lord, what is idolatry, fornication, even adultery, if you are called the bride of Christ? In word, thought and deed. Come yourself before the Lord in humility, bow before Him; search your reins and heart, if it is stayed on Him.

If you are part of the church, then these letters are intended for you too, that is why it is not written to just one church, but you are called to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Yes, mentioned in plural because the message was intended for more than just the mentioned church. So can we investigate in ourselves, if we are guilty of those things that Christ may have against us, and repent before He returns.

Leave the way of offense, do not be offended. For each conviction afford us the opportunity to kneel before the Living GOD and repent. There is forgiveness available to us in Jesus Christ, and for His suffering we should really walk away from iniquity and adopt all of righteousness. For the Lord searches our reins and heart, He knows when we are making excuses and justifying things in order to walk on in sin. He knows the deep seeded truth of all. Bring yourself in alignment with Christ, with the Will of GOD, and Trust in Him for all your needs, both of the Spirit and while we are still here in the flesh. Stand then, stay your reins and heart on Him that is the Savior of mankind.

There is much more here that we can look into, and as the Lord permits, there is always the Hope that we may learn more of Christ. But, we must also guard that we do not look into things that may lead us into false doctrines. And now, here at the end, the warning must come of idolatry again. Did Christ not warn us that men will become lovers of themselves? Are we permitted to make images of anything and worship them? What is an image? Plainly then, what are all these selfies that man takes? Do we not look into a mirror image of ourselves as we apply makeup or fix our hair? What is worship? Does the Lord love vanity? The Truth, my friends, are too much for the modern person to look at. And the excuses and justification will fly at every mention of those things that lay closest to our heart. Tell me, what images do we look at, what do we worship by cheer and adoration? Who are the stars and idols of this modern world? In how much trouble are we then standing in the ways of this world? What dead thing stands at the center of your lounge, in which direction are your chairs faced in? What is the truth of our hearts? Because not all sin is unto death, and we know that there is now no more condemnation for the children of GOD, but what remains in the reins and heart?

Are we truly Christ focused?
