Note for 20240821 - 2 John 1 KJV - How Great Thou Art

Voice Note Version
2 John 1 KJV
[1] The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; [2] for the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. [3] Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. [4] I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. [5] And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. [6] And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. [7] For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. [8] Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. [9] Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. [10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: [11] for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. [12] Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. [13] The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

Note for 2024/08/21
Since it would require guess work to determine who the elect lady is to whom John wrote, it is probably best that we just take her to be a sister in the faith; and in my own mind I would like to hold it that John wrote to Mary, the mother of our Lord. Do you remember when Mary and the brothers of Jesus came looking for Him, how He said that those that do the will of His Father in Heaven are His mother and His brothers? So, the inclusion stands by the Faith and obedience to our Father in Heaven. So can this letter also be adopted by the Bride of Christ, who is the Church and the elect lady.
The message is clear enough that we can give it heed in our lives; that we go not after some new doctrine, but hold on to what we received from Christ at first. So are there many things that man has shared with one another that may very well fall outside the original Gospel of Peace and Hope, received in Christ. Take this for instance, that Christ said that He will return as the Disciples saw Him ascend to His Father in Heaven. That He went to prepare a place for us, and that He will take us to where He is when He returns. That He would come as a thief in the night, when we think the time is not. So can I carry on and on, and relay again what we have in the four Gospels left by the Testament of His Disciples. Even as we read here from the words of the Disciple whom Christ loved.
It is also prudent that we remember how Christ loved us. For many are called but few chosen. Words of Christ again. What he gave us, He received of our Father in Heaven. Now have we who believe in Truth, received the Holy Spirit of GOD that comforts us, guides us and corrects us. The Helper in our journey unto righteousness that we will be perfected in the day of Christ's appearance. And by the decree of GOD above, we will not perish, but receive life everlasting. By the Holy Spirit have both the Father and the Son come and make their abode in us. These things, just some of what we hold onto in the Walk of Faith in Christ.
Are we then holy, set apart from this world unto Almighty GOD? Yes! If we remain in the truth and obey the commandments of GOD. Yesterday we read of that which testify in the earth, being the Word, the water and the blood of Christ. Hold then onto the Truth that John writes here in his letter to this elect lady. Do not go after the teachings of man that have no foundation in the teachings of Christ. For men easily speak in vainglory, seeking attention and favor from those who hear them. By their fruit shall you know them, for the nature of the believer is to give rather than to receive. And as we have read in 1 John, try every spirit, if it be of GOD.
Do you believe in a moment? Or do you believe in Him who rules over every moment? Why mark days off on a calendar, when we are called to walk in the same way each and every day, in the same Hope and the same Comfort of Salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord? If you walk in His ways this day, then will He find you with faith if He returns this day. For He Himself confessed, the day and hour is known by none but our Father in Heaven.
I will leave with you this day, something that may assist in the consideration of all things in the fear of GOD. If both the Father and the Son are in us, as John writes here; what of our words and deeds that we do in the sight of GOD? He that knows our thoughts and heart, even the number of the hairs upon our head. What man may keep hidden from others of mankind, the Lord knows in truth too. Repent then, and do not walk after the ways of this world of iniquity assigned to judgment by Christ, our Lord, at His coming. Follow His commandments.
Shalom

Matthew 6:24-34 KJV
[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? [26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? [27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? [31] Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

From Psalms and Proverbs
Psalm 99:1-9 KJV
[1] The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: He sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved. [2] The LORD is great in Zion; And he is high above all the people. [3] Let them praise thy great and terrible name; For it is holy. [4] The king's strength also loveth judgment; Thou dost establish equity, Thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob. [5] Exalt ye the LORD our God, And worship at his footstool; For he is holy. [6] Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; They called upon the LORD, and he answered them. [7] He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: They kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them. [8] Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: Thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions. [9] Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; For the LORD our God is holy.

Proverbs 1:1-7 KJV
[1] The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; [2] To know wisdom and instruction; To perceive the words of understanding; [3] To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, and judgment, and equity; [4] To give subtilty to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion. [5] A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; And a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: [6] To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; The words of the wise, and their dark sayings. [7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
