2 Peter 3:1-18 KJV
[1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: [2] that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: [3] knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. [5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: [6] whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: [7] but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. [8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. [10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, [12] looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. [14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. [15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; [16] as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. [17] Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. [18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Note for 2024/08/14
Amen.
I guess Peter would then be called a doomsday prophet too today. Does he write of unknown things, or is it in line with the prophets and his fellow apostles, even what the Lord Jesus Christ spoke of? This fervent heat, is it not what Malachi wrote of in the last chapter of the Old Testament of the Bible as we have it today? When the sun of righteousness shall rise? If you have followed along with me in the reading, if you read the notes that I wrote; then this is not new to you. I ask you, is the world on fire now? Friends, this is but the start. For years on end have the messengers of God been speaking on it. Who heard them and who listened? How many times must a man be warned, before he will make the necessary changes? Did Noah not try to convince those with him then, that a flood was coming too?
Yes, these words of Peter were written long ago, but read what he says. What did Christ say about the servant that said his master delayed his coming and then became cruel to his fellow servants?
Friends, as we read through the Word of GOD "as it happened," know that we are in the segment of the Word that speaks on what is to come. We are now fast approaching the Revelations Jesus made to John on Patmos. Next, we will read the letter of Jude. While we plan to complete this reading through the Word, some might not complete it with us. You have no promise that I might even be here until the end of it, though we pray to the Lord for His mercy and grace that we can at least finish this. Since we started, my own body has grown old.
If I alone was speaking on these things, then maybe you could still question it. But, how many witnesses is required by the law of Moses? Do the words of Christ count as witness; and Paul, Peter and John? What of Isaiah, Elijah, Jeremiah, Malachi and how many more must I list off? The day of the Lord is coming, and it will come to pass, just as it was written of. What excuse will a man have? The Word of GOD can be found easily. Will Christ find faith at His return?
Have I sold you anything here? How do I stand to profit from you in speaking words of warning? Are we then not reading the Word of GOD, and is it not this Word of GOD that gives the warning? Have you seen what is happening in the world, how it stands in line with the prophecies in the Word of GOD? In which season do you stand?
The day is coming when there will be a famine for the Word of GOD. So may the day come, when the words that even I have written will be hard to find. But, if the Word of GOD is established in you, even written on your heart, who can take it from you then? Now, we can still go to church, we can read at home. We still have the liberty to believe as we want. We still have a choice now, but what happens when the dark kingdom rises that this Word of GOD says is coming; that the Lord will permit for a short season in the hour that he gives his enemy? We are read up on all the promises of GOD, but will you heed the warnings in it too?
Friends, this is what Peter is speaking of here. It is of a day that is sure to come. Let me then ask a question by way of reason: why are men of this world, even its elite; digging into the ground to make for themselves doomsday bunkers? And if not digging down, they are seeking a way to escape the earth. What do they know that you won't hear of? This Word of GOD is sure, it even speaks on these that will ask a mountain to fall on them and hide them from the wrath of the Lamb of GOD. And these, do they believe, digging their own graves?
Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For as you read of the coming destruction of this world as we know it, read too, what the Word of GOD promises those that trust in Him. No flesh can enter into the Kingdom of GOD, and don't you know, have you not read that GOD is Spirit? Is Christ not also called the first fruit of the resurrection? How then was it for Him? He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. I ask again, as so many times before; do you believe in what you read? What is the response of your soul?
I cannot give comfort to anyone who rejects the Lord of our Salvation, for there is none. Only in Christ can we partake in the promises of GOD. Even to the repenting sinner on the cross besides Christ, He said, today you will be with Me in Paradise. To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
Are you ready for the coming of our Lord, or are you still in love with this world? Heed the warnings in the Word of GOD, consider the promises that He has made, if only we can repent and turn from our wicked ways and believe in Christ Jesus. Then we will know the Way unto the Salvation of our Soul.
Choose then this day, who you will follow. In Christ you can know the peace of GOD.
Shalom
YouVersion Bible Verse of the Day
(Extended)
Galatians 5:16-24 KJV
[16] This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. [17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. [18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Galatians 5:25-26 KJV
[25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [26] Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
