2 Peter 2:1-22 KJV

[1] But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. [2] And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. [3] And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. [4] For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; [5] and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; [6] and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; [7] and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: [8] (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) [9] the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: [10] but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. [11] Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. [12] But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; [13] and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; [14] having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: [15] which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; [16] but was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. [17] These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. [18] For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. [19] While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. [20] For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. [21] For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. [22] But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Where shall I begin?

"[9] the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: [10] but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities."

What is it that you see in the world today? Have we made ourselves guilty of the same? Who then establishes the rulers, even a wicked king over wicked people? Shall I speak in the same tone as Peter? Indeed I do, I agree with what is written and plead with the Lord to forgive me if I am guilty of the same. Who do you give honor to?

These words of Peter are hard words which are meant to be for correction. Do you stand in rebellion, or pray for the will of GOD to be done? At which point does intercession become a party to the transgressions of those we stand in the gap for? Shall we pray to The Holy Most High GOD to ignore evil and wickedness? In all things, there is a line that can not be crossed. Hence, the mention of Balaam, who beat his donkey, by which the Lord spoke to Balaam when the Angel of the Lord was standing in his way. The Lord gives warning to refrain from evil, are we then going to be forcefully to have things our own way? And for what, a little more money, power or favor in this world? Heaven forbid, no! What then is on that shopping list prayer we recite off to the Lord? What is it more than requesting if GOD Almighty, that our will be done?

Friends, it is time to repent. It is time for us to turn away from the ways of this world, to "come out of her" so we will not share in the plagues that the world will be judged by. How does man covet today, how does he lust and live in greed for all his heart desires? Read verse 9 again, and hear what the Spirit is saying.

Don't you know that we are being prepared at this moment? Don't you know the Lord is preventing us, who trust in Him, from being in the way of corruption, for the sake of our salvation? If we are in a safe place, He keeps us safe there, and if we are in a place like Sodom, He is saying, "Get out," for the Lord will come against the wicked and woe to them who are found with them. The Word of GOD says that some will be saved as if snatched from the fire. My question to you today is this: how close to the edge of destruction do you wish to stand? Go after righteousness, return to the ways of GOD, honor God, do not lift yourself up as untouchable. Have your security in the LORD your GOD, for it is GOD that will save us, deliver us and redeem us. Your choice is; who do you stand with, this world or GOD? Choose then this day whom you will serve. For, the Lord has drafted a way unto Salvation in Jesus Christ, and He has proclaimed what is wickedness; shall we then stand in rebellion saying, "not according to what man has defined?" Just how much rebellion do you esteem GOD will tolerate? Have we then learned nothing from the Word of GOD?

No, friends! It is time to make things right. It is time to conclude this race. Forgive then who you must, but do not stand for evil and the workings of devils. Renounce wickedness, adopt righteousness and trust the Lord your God in All things. Will you heed the warning when it is spelled out for you? Or will you resist the Lord and say, "not yet, maybe tomorrow; I still have things to get done?" Like with Balaam, the messengers of GOD are standing in the way, to prevent you from going into trouble headlong. Will you beat the donkey that you ride upon? Blame the car, when it won't start; or, a friend that is causing you delay or from moving when you want? Has the Lord struck you with an illness or placed you in pain, to prevent you from going to those places you might have gone if you were well? Read verse 9 again. The Lord knows best. Why stand outside if the sun will scorch the earth? Why remain where you are, when the flood is on its way? Why be hard-headed, when the Lord employs all to keep you safe? Those of you that have been restricted or moved about, will you gain understanding now? Do you trust in the LORD? Then permit Him to move you about to keep you safe. Did the Angels not take Lot and his family outside Sodom before destroying it?

Oh, friends. Don't you know the time you are standing in? Look up, for your redemption draws near. Do not bind yourself to iniquity, but stand in the Liberty of Christ. Forgive one another, set each other free from expectation. Love flows from GOD, and hate from the enemy of GOD. How do you then still oppose one another, in this game of competition the world is based on, where you are fooled into thinking that you need to fight for your own survival? The Lord is our Provider; give us this day our daily Bread, LORD.

It is my hope that the Lord will open our eyes so we may see, even those that stand on His behalf. Don't you know that the Lord commands His Angels to stand in your protection? Who then brings in the harvest? Who will mark those that belong to the Lord? Who will collect the elite of GOD from the four quarters of the Earth? Do you believe what you read in the Word of GOD?

The days are coming, when you will need this reminder that you received this day. Just remember, the very same water that parted for Israel, is the waters that drowned Pharaoh and his army. Who then stood with Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego in the furnace; and what harm came to them? The question is do you believe that GOD will do that for you? What He has done for others, He will do for you. So trust in the LORD. For many, you will not even see such a furnace for the LORD acts proactive all the time... Like with a flat wheel or a friend who comes and makes you late for an appointment. The ways in which the Lord keeps you safe is often invisible to us, because we never make it to the intersection of that trouble.

Please friends, get as serious as you can with the Lord your God. Step deep into His presence, and follow His commandments. Yes! This world will come against you, but the Lord will be your Protector, in Christ, He will save your soul. Then you will be with the Lord, even if this world passes away. Stand firm in righteousness, trust in the LORD our God.

May the Lord be with you, may He bless and keep you. Remain in the Way of Christ.
