Note for 2024/07/29 - Hebrews 3:1-19 KJV - The Long Walk
Hebrews 3:1-19 KJV
[1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; [2] who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. [3] For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. [4] For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. [5] And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; [6] but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. [7] Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, [8] Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, In the day of temptation in the wilderness: [9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, And saw my works forty years. [10] Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, And said, They do alway err in their heart; And they have not known my ways. [11] So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) [12] Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. [13] But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. [14] For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; [15] while it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. [16] For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. [17] But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? [18] And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? [19] So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

What will today bring? Will it provoke us, which is just another way to say, will it offend us? Why are we surprised when the world of sin offends us in our faith, is provocation not the natural state of wickedness? Is evil then not offensive, so much so, that we wish to separate us from it. And yet, Christ died for sinners. Our path is carved, it is designed with junctions and intersections that brings us to the necessary choices that determine our final destination. What is the end of our belief, and what is the end of unbelief, that is what the author speaks of here.
Friends, it is a hard topic to write about today. This end, that I write of here today, which is part of the scripture today, is on the day after, one of our close family's end came. The house is quiet, and we each are dealing with it in our own unique way. So, believe me when I tell you that the choices we make in life are in deep focus for each of my household today. Grief and mourning with the sense of loss of a loved one.
So, I do write this morning, also in the memory of Ruth. Contemplating, considering and standing in a deep hope. You see, despite our deepest heart desires, friends; each one makes their own choices. And if silent on the topic, how can we truly know the outcome? Yes, we comfort each other with words, but in the end, only The Lord knows. As sad as it may be, that is the truth. In the end, we will all face the final truth of our heart, we will go as those who went before us; leaving behind, all that was gathered unto us here on earth. Yes, then the race of life has been completed, the moments of choice are done and over; leaving the soul to face the final consequence of the life we have lived. For Ruth, the time is done now, but for you who are still breathing, you still have this moment. What is your faith? Who do you believe in? Have you communicated it to your loved ones at least, so they may be comforted when your race is done?
This chapter, that comes today as if it was ordered from on High, as I indeed believe it is; deals with this very topic. Yes, seen through the scope of Israel being delayed in the desert, 40 years, because of unbelief. No unbeliever could enter into the Promised Land. What then is the "Promised Land" of our faith in Christ? You know the answer. You know what is your hope in Christ based on, that is the eternal salvation of your living soul that came to man from the breath of GOD our Creator. Dust to dust, but the wind blows as it pleases and who knows where it finds its rest. It is indeed unseen, we only know that it exists because it brushes our cheek or blows us off our feet. So, I ask you today from a place of perspective; how is your wind blowing through this day? For our words are carried on that wind. Are you that gentle and meek wind that brings comfort from the heat, or do you live in such a way that a storm watch warning must proceed you everywhere? Remember, it is Christ that stilled the storm weather for the disciples at sea. He can also calm the storm in you. Let your wind then blow in Honor of your Creator. Let Christ calm your storms, and bring your soul to peace, so that you may enter the peace of GOD.
Shalom.
In memory of Aunty Ruth, in a deep hope that your soul has found its rest.

Philippians 4:4-7 KJV
[4] Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. [5] Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. [6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

[9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. [11] Give us this day our daily bread. [12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. [13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

From Psalms:
Psalm 93:1-5 KJV
[1] The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; The LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: The world also is stablished, That it cannot be moved. [2] Thy throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting. [3] The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves. [4] The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, Yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. [5] Thy testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

For The Long Walkers
Received from a Brother in Christ for today.
Isaiah 56:1-12 KJV
[1] Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. [2] Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. [3] Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree. [4] For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; [5] even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. [6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; [7] even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. [8] The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. [9] All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. [10] His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. [11] Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. [12] Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

Isaiah 57:1-21 KJV
[1] The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. [2] He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness. [3] But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore. [4] Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, [5] enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks? [6] Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these? [7] Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice. [8] Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it. [9] And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell. [10] Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved. [11] And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not? [12] I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee. [13] When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; [14] and shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. [15] For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. [16] For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. [17] For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. [18] I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. [19] I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him. [20] But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. [21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Isaiah 58:1-14 KJV
[1] Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. [2] Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. [3] Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. [4] Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. [5] Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? [6] Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? [7] Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? [8] Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. [9] Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; [10] and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: [11] and the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. [12] And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. [13] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: [14] then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
