Note for 2024/06/17 - Romans 13:1-14 KJV - Love Thy Neighbour?
Romans 13:1-14 KJV
[1] Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. [2] Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. [3] For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: [4] for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. [5] Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. [6] For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. [7] Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. [8] Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. [9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. [11] And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. [12] The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. [13] Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. [14] But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Note for 2024/06/17
In the King James Version of the Bible, the heading for this chapter speaks of social and civil duties. Surely, yesterday's note is strengthened by this chapter, clearly pointing out that civil unrest does not please GOD.
Friends, the Word of GOD put things in order. Just as there is a leader that stands over people, so that leader has one who leads him. Now, we hope that our leaders fear God and we should pray for our leaders even as we pray for our loved ones. Should we then not love our neighbor and is our leaders not of mankind? It is GOD that establishes order. It is GOD that permits evil to touch the unbeliever, even to correct His children. If a leader then insists on wickedness, then the wicked shall rise against such a leader in an appointed time. What then if the world is corrupted, as it is; shall they then not be governed by a wicked leader? For the leaders come from the same people that they will rule over. But here you read, that it is GOD that establishes those that stand in places of leadership. So, yes, taxes should be paid. Even when the hand is on the scale, what is demanded of you, you should give. Remember about being slapped on the cheek, to turn the other? To walk two miles if one is requested from you? We fulfill the Law by loving our neighbor, just as we were commanded by The Lord.
Friends, it is man that denies instruction. We choose to obey or not. We can stand in peace or make war with one another, but what then works unto true good? What law will say, "do as you please?" That brings chaos, not order. The strange thing is, I have noticed; those that insist on doing as they please, request loyalty to their will in things and subject others to it.
What counts for social and civil order, also functions in some form in a household. In the church, is there order there? But man wants to do as he pleases, while not extending such to others. Look! The one who says, let me be, to do as I please, has rules for others, how they may engage, even managing their time for them. This should not be among the children of GOD, for from such is hostilities born. Man has forgotten proper order, no wonder they think they rule over all, even the spiritual. In that, man is mistaken, for no man moves less by the spirit in him. If then not the Holy Spirit, who then? For the Holy Spirit is One in all, the same Spirit, which unites us with God and with each other. Who then sows division, who speaks for wickedness and establishes evil in mankind? Is it not the enemy of GOD?
So, yes; there will be riots in wicked times, even upheaval against the government. But, as followers of Christ we should not join the crowd that moves in rebellion. For rebellion will stir up hate and hate will stir up disorder, violence and murder. The wicked leader will be overthrown by wicked people. For the wicked moves by love of self and service of self, not knowing that they have been captured within by dark forces. Then, casting out devils is all that remains, so the subject may be freed from the clutches of evil. For we struggle not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness.
So, yesterday I wrote on the spirit of offense, for if we stand in love, in the knowledge of The Lord, we know that the person has been deceived and corrupted by lies. We know the person is held in chains by evil spirits. Just like Jesus encountered with Legion, and cast the devils into the pigs.
Man stands on a plain that consists of the material and the spiritual, but only one is seen by the eyes that is made of flesh. The material is corrupted by the corruption that flows from the spiritual. Have you not read that the lake of fire in Revelations was intended for Satan and his angels? Will man then elect himself to go into it, by rejecting the Salvation of the Lord? We know, because the Word of GOD foretold it. Greater is he that is in me, than he that is in this world. Only Christ can save us, for He is the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15. He shall crush the head of the seed of Satan that bites man in the heel. All other powers that are not of GOD or Christ, stand in league with Satan. And man... Man is the vessel of spirits, even of the manifestation of spirits and to do what the spirit within lusts after.
I know, this is intense. But, once this is understood, the Truth will be plain to see. Those loyal priests of darkness understand this too, they have harnessed power over others by it. But, none is greater than GOD, nor His Son and neither His Holy Spirit for it is of GOD.
So, what then is the fruit of the spirit? Is it not seen by words and deeds? If the fruit is then of violence and lies, how can the tree be good? But, just as the fruit is born of the spirit, so is the tree of the spirit that is within. So, cast the devil out, resist him and plant the good seed, which is the Word of GOD. For if the tree is good, then the fruit will be good too. Evil is like a parasite, like poison ivy. It seeks to cover every good tree and strangle it, to prevent the tree from bearing good fruit. As workers of Christ, we are to tend to this garden and remove that which strangles. Yes, we are to dig around the tree and give it dung so it can grow and produce good fruit that will please the Lord.
The language of mankind falls short. For how do I explain that the tree itself can keep itself clean from parasites, by resisting evil? For He that is in me, keeps me. For that I would need another example. In short, see then that the defense system of the tree works from within. For we must resist the devil, then he shall flee. So must our choices reflect that which is good in the sight of GOD. So we follow Christ Jesus, for He is The Way, The Truth and The Life.
Shalom
YouVersion Bible Verse of the Day
(Expanded from verse 6)
2 John 1:4-11 KJV
[4] I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. [5] And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. [6] And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. [7] For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. [8] Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. [9] Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. [10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: [11] for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
