‭1 Corinthians 6:1-20 KJV‬

[1] Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? [2] Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? [3] Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? [4] If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. [5] I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? [6] But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. [7] Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? Why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? [8] Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. [9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [10] nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. [11] And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. [12] All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. [13] Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. [14] And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. [15] Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. [16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. [17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. [18] Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Note for 2024/05/08


A few times now, I have asked those of you who follow along in the reading... Do you truly believe in what you read? Do you believe it is the Word of GOD as brought to us of GOD, inspired by the Holy Spirit of GOD in those that held the pen? I do. All of it. And are we not to receive the Word of GOD Spiritually? What did you just read then?


Now Paul lists off all the things which shall not be permitted in the Kingdom of GOD, and you can study it one by one if you please, but he starts off this chapter about those who believe dealing with each other by the law of man.


If there is dispute among you, first do not take it to the heathen to judge you as believers. They know not mercy or grace, neither have they the Holy Spirit to guide them according to the Will of GOD in the matter. But probably more profane than that, is why you have a charge against your brother and your sister in the first place. So, Paul says, and I agree; is it not better that you judge the matter in forgiveness. If there is loss or harm suffered, can GOD then not restore you, or heal you? But why do we who believe then judge matters as if we do not believe? Solomon wrote that those that give to the poor lend to GOD, what still about His children? If we show mercy and grace, will God not keep us whole? Why do we judge matters as those trapped in the flesh alone?


Now the Lord reveals as He pleases to whom He pleases to reveal it to, and for me, this was given that upholds me. If I know the scale of measure is unbalanced, I must let the favor fall to the other. So I ask you, to whom must mercy be shown, to whom must the profit then go? Is that not why we were called to love and serve one another? But, man has become all together selfish, and sadly this has crept into the church long ago too. Parents teach their children to be selfish to overcome and survive in this world, but let that no longer be true, please. For GOD is the One who measures all, He gives and He takes. What he has given He can withhold too, and distribute as He pleases. The problem is that we still expect our rewards here on earth in the fallen state of this World. Instead of serving one another in love, we demand to be served and pleased by others. Don't you know that most acts of unrighteousness are done in selfishness? Yes! And who of us like to be accused of selfishness, but is that not selfish itself in nature? We are concerned about what people think of us, our credit rating and even that which we deem to belong to us. Is GOD not LORD over All? Did Christ not die upon the cross for All of Mankind? Yes, even for the one who comes against you. And if Jesus died for them and forgiven them, who are we to accuse them? Is GOD the Judge or do you become the judge when it serves your own interests?


Now, regarding the long list that is given here by Paul, it is not given for condemnation, read on... In Christ the price for those are paid, so we can enter into the Kingdom of GOD when we believe in Him. Our sin, all our transgressions are thrown in the sea of forgetfulness. GOD removes it from us as far as the East is separated from the West and thinks of it no more. It is covered by the Blood of GOD'S Sacrificial Lamb, the Eternal Lamb slain once and for all.


The problem then is unbelief and a weakness in faith. If we deny forgiveness for another, do we not exclude ourselves then too. If we accuse those forgiven by our Lord, do we not come against Him then?


I have mentioned before, I have done the study myself, and I am convinced entirely that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ fulfilled the entire Law. Even to the point that a husband can redeem his wife from a vow to GOD, but that that vow then falls on him. Is that not what Christ did for us? He took the curse of sin, which is death, upon himself for us,the Church of Christ, His Bride.


So, are we then guilty of these on the list of transgressions? Yes! We are sinners. And if we are guilty of one act we are guilty of sin. Who then will cast the first stone at another? Christ made us free from the law and established with us a covenant sealed in God's Love for us.


Why do we then bicker amongst ourselves like little children that know nothing? We get upset with one another because someone did not do what we wanted them to do, expected them to do even. Have you then become slave masters? What someone then does, let him do it from the freedom that GOD has given us. But, do not be mistaken, the Judgment will come, and if not covered by the Blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we will not survive that by any other means. So judge not lest you be judged. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us, did we not proclaim that even with our own mouths?


We are still in a grace period that is now quickly running out. And when the time for grace is done, then it will be too late to claim forgiveness for yourself. Mercy unto the merciful. Read the Word with understanding please. Mercy. Show that to one another, even charity and patience. Do unto others as you would have them do for you. Give freely without expectation of returns.


Then you will know the peace of GOD and His favor will rest on you.

Thought for the Day


Friends, are you where GOD needs you to be, are you even on your way to where you should be?


Look at the Israelites, was their journey not delayed 40 years in the wilderness because of their disobedience? So much so, that only the next generation entered into the Promised Land? If you are disobedient to the instruction of The Lord, you cause delays for yourself too. For you are promised eternal life for your faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.


Why suffer all the wasting of time by our “wrong turns”, and the consequences of poor decisions. Submit to the Will of GOD and you will get there sooner.
